Fantastic experience: The team of vets and nurses are amazing, can not thank them enough for their care of my dog and myself. Both surgeons were amazing and the nurses and reception staff are amazing.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and experienced staff. Definitley good pricing for the excellent service that they provide. And my dog Max agrees!
Fantastic experience: Thank you for the short notice visit. Were very helpful and diagnosed my dogs issues promptly. My dog is now doing so much better.
Fantastic experience: What a difference six months makes! It’s wonderful to see the clinic back to having friendly staff, genuinely caring vets, and transparency when it comes to costs. Dr. Sattar has been incredible in helping me come to terms with my cat’s Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. He has shown genuine compassion and care for my cat’s wellbeing, taking the time to explain everything clearly and making a difficult situation much easier to manage. His professionalism and kindness have been greatly appreciated.
Fantastic experience: The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, bending down to say hello to my pet female Staffordshire Terrier, the Vetranarin was Amazeballs (aka amazing ) everyone made us feel comfortable and we had a great experience which is rare these days
Fantastic experience: Professional and lovely service with our dog. Very happy and would highly recommend them.
Fantastic experience: Very experienced vet doctors and staff. Animals are cared for in a professional way, and the fee is reasonable. Cheers...
Fantastic experience: These people are amazing. They go above and beyond for my girl every single time. Yesterday she was rushed to them in what I thought was going to be an unstable way but they called as soon as she got there, they kept me updated. And than most of all were understanding, caring and just the best human beings. HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU ALL. Lil dawg is doing well thanks to you.
Fantastic experience: My puppy had issues post op with skin irritations around the incision point. They were fantastic and helped her immediately. She was happy and jumping around back to herself before we even left the vet. Fantastic care for Winni! Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Friendly, caring professional staff they will take very good care of your pets needs, wheelchair parking space at the front door.
Fantastic experience: Very kind and caring attitude shown to us by Jed as well as his excellent expertise in dealing with our pet's problem.
Fantastic experience: I had a chicken brought back from the brink of death!? Cost me a lot of money but she's healthy now. Could have bought 12 chickens to replace her
Fantastic experience: I’ve had awful experiences with other clinics in the past, including delayed medication that almost cost my dog his life, so finding Illawarra Animal Hospital has been a blessing. The staff are so lovely and always take amazing care of Xabi, from her desexing to her latest visit. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Good vet the lady i seen was good knew her stuff . Explained everything well and told me costs up front. Great to deal with. The ladies at front desk when you walk in are welcoming and friendly as well.
Fantastic experience: TLDR - These guys are fantastic, easily the best vet clinic in the area ! Highly recommend. We switched vets to these guys a while ago as they seemed to be more available than our original vet. We then had an urgent issue with our Bulldog on a weekend, we went to Green Cross Fairy Meadow as they had the ‘emergency vet’ - sat there for 2 hours, finally saw the vet who then told us we’ll need to make a booking the following week to work out the issue (while my dog was bleeding over the floor). I rang Figtree again afterwards and they squeezed me in the following day, diagnosed him, and booked him in for surgery the next day. Every staff member and vet are so kind, friendly and they genuinely love our dog. We have a good experience every time we visit, highly recommend !
Fantastic experience: Amazing care provided to our pup who ate some grapes. They were quick to respond, kind to us as parents and made us feel like we'll be able to keep him safe through the risky times. Huge thanks to Ryan and Shannon for taking amazing care of the little fella.
Fantastic experience: Had a great personality and good information
Fantastic experience: The workers were extremely great and Dennis the Vet was Excellent and they could not have done enough for little muffy She’s getting better by each day so thank you very much.
Fantastic experience: The avian vet on the day, 13/6/26, was very Kind, caring and knowledgeable. The recommendations spot on and budgie care hints greatly appreciated. I thank you!
Fantastic experience: I brought my cat in today & for the past 3 days he was unwell. As soon as he was seen the lovely woman tending to him made me feel so comfortable & I knew he was going to be taken care of & recieve the treatment needed. He is already doing so much better after a few hours extremely grateful ❤️
Fantastic experience: The staff were courteous and friendly. The Vet was approachable and answered all our concerns. The hours that Illawarra Animal Hospital have are really good as they are open when a lot of other vets are closed. Not too pricey either, so would definitely recommend them !
Negative experience: Gone down a lot since our last visit or possibly it was just a really busy day yesterday. We were left waiting in a consultation room for an hour.. then my dog was taken out the back and left alone in a room for 10 minutes ( I know this because that’s the only time he will ever bark if he’s feeling “left out” ) couple of girls on reception were lovely, couple that were there probably shouldn’t be.
Fantastic experience: Great service with a personal touch. My pugs and I always feel welcome. Thorough consults.
Negative experience: Unprofessional - should have put my cat down. charged $550 , gave mimicat back, spent 24hr watching her die, called back this morning.... asked for the receipt of yesterday. ladies laughed and hang up ... I DO NOT PROMOTE THIS VET . ....
Fantastic experience: My fur baby Pepe became very ill on sunday morning 7th june, our local vet was not open so we were lucky enough to get an appointment at Illawarra animal hospital Figtree as they were fully booked thankfully they got us in, this is second time we have had a similar situation with Pepe we saw Doctor Navvinah on both occasions, she is amazing such a lovely Doctor and great at her job, we have had very good outcomes on both occasions, the staff are very nice and accommodating they set up a space for myself and Pepe so i could stay with her while she was on a drip for 8 hours, i would also like to thank the lovely Vet nurse Ellie she is so kind and sweet and also great at her job. Thank you to all the team for helping Pepe and myself. I would definitely recommend Illawarra animal hospital Figtree
Fantastic experience: We got an appointment with Dr Bridget. Bridget was very gentle and caring with our dog Stella. Staff at reception are cheerful and friendly
Fantastic experience: Illawarra Animal Hospital was able to give me an appointment almost straight away which was excellent. The front desk staff made appropriate arrangements for my very reactive dog. The vet - Dr Prad- was kind, considerate and very thorough. I was completely happy with our visit. My dog is a lot more settled today after getting help from Dr Prad.
Fantastic experience: They are open long hours with lots of amazing staff on hand so i have never had to wait for unplanned visits due to puppy injuries. The service and care they have always provided has been amazing
Fantastic experience: We have entrusted our little dog Prince’s health care to the dedicated and highly caring, professional team at Illawarra Animal Hospital & Canon and Ball. For the last 4 years the team have been exceptional, so kind, reassuring and caring we highly recommend this practice. They Love your Animals as much as you do ❤️
Fantastic experience: Figtree Illawarra Animal Hospital has been incredible. My dog became very unwell and it was an extremely stressful time. Every vet and vet nurse that were involved in his care were well informed on my dog's illness. I felt confident with their decision making which brought him back to health. I never had hesitation on any of their decision making regardless of the outcome, they helped me make decisions every step of the way. I also want to mention the admin staff as well, they were so kind and friendly across the last few days. My dog is home now recovering well, I cannot recommend them enough and I am so grateful for all their contributions to getting my dog well again.
Fantastic experience: Great service, very caring staff.
Fantastic experience: Friendly, helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Dr Jed was very helpful with my dog Milly, and gave her an injection to stop vomiting and told me to bring her back if she was still unwell or where to go if she was sick overnight. Very caring vet, nothing was a problem. Thank you Illawarra Animal Hospital
Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with the service we received from the friendly girls in reception and the professional caring manner of Satar the vet. Thank you for your kindness. ⬛
Fantastic experience: Great vet Jed was honest and easy to communicate with he wasn’t negative at all nor was he judgemental great vet and lovely staff at front desk felt great to find a vet that you feel completely safe with and Peppa took to him but didn’t take to the treats
Fantastic experience: We had to say goodbye to our 15 year old family pet without warning. The team were so kind and compassionate with us. We came in as an emergency appointment and they gave us all the time we needed to spend with our precious girl. They looked after us in our time of sadness and I am so grateful we were so gracefully accommodated to take as long as we needed to say goodbye. Thank you F.A.H.
Fantastic experience: These guys are just wonderful with the fury kind. We love them all they are so passionate and care for our 4 dogs. Dr Ryan and Dr Jade and all the nurses have looked after out little Charlie pug who broke his humourous. They have all been carrying him around giving him lots of cuddles.
Fantastic experience: great very helpful staff
Fantastic experience: I love Illawarra Animal Hospital and the whole team. Doctor Prad is the most caring and professional Vet. He saved my Corgi, Yogi, from a Black snake bite and takes extra care with him on all his visits, as Vets are usually not Yogi’s favourite people! Yogi loves Dr Prad and I absolutely trust Dr Prad to ensure Yogi is calm and well looked with his highly professional and compassionate care. Dr Prad listens, explains things really clearly and communicates well through the whole process. I absolutely trust Dr Prad as he has taken the time to get to know Yogi’s little foibles, character and individual needs.
Negative experience: On November 26, 2025, my two small 12 year old dogs fell ill late in the afternoon. As this surgery was about to close, I made an appointment for the following morning for both of them. The vet we saw was dismissive and didn't or rather wouldn't listen when I said I thought they had been poisoned. His diagnosis was pancreatitis. I pointed out they were two different breeds, different ages, ate the same thing every night and had never had fatty foods or table scraps in the 11 years we'd had them. He remained firm in his diagnosis. My darling little girls were at the surgery all day and we were told they would be okay overnight and to bring them back in the morning. By morning they were both dead having suffered horrifically in the ensuing hours. As it turned out, my beautiful girls were poisoned. Had that first vet we saw listened, it is probable my girls would still be here today. I have never witnessed anything as cruel and inhumane as the way my little girls died. I will never take another animal to IAH under any circumstances. The lack of care, the lack of concern and the inability to listen to what was likely wrong with them was abhorrent. I hope that vet is able to find a new career because he certainly shouldn't be a vet.
Fantastic experience: Staff are always very helpful & friendly. Great pet care!
Fantastic experience: Have to say the Vet and Staff were all very helpful and friendly. The vet was great with my kitty who at the time was not a well boy. Thankyou.
Negative experience: When we started taking our dogs here four years ago, we couldn’t find fault. Unfortunately all that they seem to care about now is how much they can charge you. The communication about your pet is extremely bad. There is no continuity of communication between vets and nursing staff about your pets treatment. Promised updated information about the care of the pet is spasmodic and the front office staff don’t seem to care about quality of service and prefer to shove a payment reader at you then Helping you with an enquiry. Apart from a handful of people who work there, I would recommend if you love your pet to go elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Recently moved to this vet a few months ago and honestly could not be happier. The time and care spent and information given was second to none compared to other vets I've been too. My pooch just had her teeth cleaned with no extractions required where as another vet wanted to extract 12 teeth out! So glad I decided to go to illawarra animal hospital. Best decision ever x
Negative experience: As an owner dog breeder , I have had all my 5 litters microchipped & vaccinated there . The first 2 litters were fine ,everything was perfect no mishaps . The last 3 , has been a nightmare , the microchip numbers weren’t logged into the system for the council , And my very last litter, they logged the wrong information into their system , instead of Labrador they’ve typed in ridgeback . The new microchip no on one pup is apparently already in use to another man ? Totally incompetent workers. This has caused alot of confusion to the new owners . Do better , especially when you’re getting $1000 per 45 min visit .
Negative experience: Do Not Recommend- my dog nearly died from them. I got my dog desexed here and due to their negligence and prescribing the wrong medication, my dog ended up in the emergency vet. They admitted the vet game him the wrong medication but still took no accountability. Other people I have spoken to said they have had a similar experience. I had to pay over $6,000 out of pocket plus the fees of the wrong medication etc. Extremely disappointed and heartbroken by the lack of care and responsibility.
Fantastic experience: Have to share my most recent experience with Illawarra pet hospital figtree , the care and upmost support I received from team there is absolutely amazing , both my dogs were so looked after and I just felt an overall welcome feeling whilst I was there ! A massive shout out to the amazing Danni who not only went out of way to make sure we were truly looked after she also made sure and checked in on us when we went home ! Highly recommend you won’t be disappointed
Negative experience: TERRIBLE SERVICE NEVER COMING BACK.

Fantastic experience: I had the most amazing experience with team at figtree. My silly boy richo done his acl and needed to have the TPLO surgery on his leg! This happened 2 weeks before I had a whole month holiday booked overseas in srilanka. I was so worried and stressed and we organised to do the surgery while I was away as the first 4 weeks of rehabilitation are crucial. I was filled with photos and updates of my richo every single day making my trip so much better as I wasn’t worried about him at all and could see how happy he was there and how much love he was getting. Now when big richo comes in he is so happy to be there and he has made so many friends. Big richo is now made a full recovery and is back enjoying zoomies down the beach and living his best life. Thanks Terri and the team at ARH 10/10 service.
Fantastic experience: I can’t thank the team at Figtree Illawarra Vet Hospital enough for the amazing care they’ve shown my newly adopted rescue cat, Mochi (now named Ollie). From the very first visit, Tahlia and the entire team were incredibly patient, gentle, and understanding — not just with Ollie, who was understandably anxious, but with me as well as a new pet owner. It’s clear that everyone here genuinely loves what they do. They take the time to explain things thoroughly, offer thoughtful advice, and go above and beyond to make sure both pets and their owners feel supported and at ease. Ollie is settling in beautifully thanks to their kindness and expertise, and I feel so lucky to have found such a compassionate clinic. If you’re looking for a vet team that truly cares — for both the furry and the human kind — I can’t recommend Figtree Illawarra Vet Hospital highly enough.
Fantastic experience: thank you to Jade and the team for keeping us updated with our little yellow bird - Boyo, you guys are awesome despite the sad times
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff that really care about your prts
Thank you for the great review, Greg! We really appreciate your support.
Cheers from all the team at Illawarra Animal Hospital - Figtree <3
Fantastic experience: I CANNOT thank them enough for how amazing they are with my little teenie Pekingese! She has a few health issues and they tailor her care specific for her. Friendly, caring staff! Highly recommended
Fantastic experience: Efficient and caring.
Negative experience: I feel sick even writing this, but I want other dog owners to know what we went through at Illawarra Animal Hospital - Figtree. We have a trusted regular vet but they were unable to fit us in quickly for X-rays. That’s the only reason we went to this clinic. I regret it deeply. My first experience here was with a senior vet who left me completely shaken. After waiting 45 minutes with my anxious pup, the vet finally walked in, didn’t introduce himself, didn’t apologise for the wait, and spoke to me in a cold, dismissive manner. He criticised the way I held the lead and barked instructions, leaving me humiliated and in tears. That is not what any pet owner should experience when seeking help for their beloved animal. I later learned that the vet I’d seen was “Dr Mike Cannon”, a man full of self importance and void of compassion. We returned later for the results of the X-ray and saw the orthopedic surgeon. While his manner was far kinder, I was told very confidently that Joey had a cruciate ligament tear and that surgery was required, described as something he performed “daily.” He did note a luxating patella, but only while Joey was sedated for X-rays - it wasn’t able to be demonstrated to us during an awake exam. When we reported this cruciate diagnosis back to our trusted vet, they were shocked and said they simply could not believe it based on previous presentations. Wanting nothing but the absolute best care for Joey, we chose not to go ahead with surgery here and instead booked with Veterinary Specialists of Sydney (VSOS). At our very first consult there, the specialists were immediately doubtful of the cruciate diagnosis. They were able to demonstrate the patella luxation with Joey conscious in the room. During surgery, they confirmed what they suspected: Joey’s cruciate ligament was completely intact. The cruciate diagnosis from Illawarra Animal Hospital was wrong. This entire ordeal has been distressing, exhausting, and costly. We went into this wanting nothing but the very best for our pup, and instead what we experienced at Illawarra Animal Hospital was arrogance, misdiagnosis, and a lack of compassion. I strongly encourage other pet owners to seek a second opinion elsewhere before proceeding with major surgery based on the advice of one vet.
Negative experience: Have been here for many years but the waiting time has been half an hour and needed to wait for another 20 mins because they couldn’t find our booking. Not happy
Thank you for sharing your feedback Syafinaz. I’m really sorry to hear you feel we didn’t meet your expectations. Please know we always do our best, and our team works very hard to care for and accommodate everyone who visits our hospital.
I’ve tried to find your details in our system so I could reach out personally, but couldn’t locate them. I’d love the chance to chat and better understand your experience.
You’re very welcome to give me a call directly on (02) 4213 9333.

Fantastic experience: Thank you to the team at IAH for helping with putting our senior pet to sleep. And big thanks to Dennis for being very kind and understanding throughout the whole process.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately we had to put our beautiful girl Angel to sleep last week. She was a very reactive old girl and didn't like people other than our family. Everyone was wonderful, from the reception staff that arranged a home visit to the lovely Vet and assistant that came with her on the day. Very compassionate and understanding. Gave us plenty of time to say our goodbyes assuring us that there was no rush and to take as long as we needed. Can't thank you all enough for making a painful experience as good as it could be. R.I.P our beautiful girl.
Negative experience: I was extremely disappointed with the way Bell treated both us and the native bird we brought in. She was very dismissive from the start, repeatedly cutting us off when we tried to explain the situation. Her manner came across as uncaring, and there was no compassion or interest shown toward the injured bird at all. The overall customer service was poor, and I left feeling that both our concerns and the animal’s welfare were not taken seriously. The lady Cath on the front desk was lovely to deal with, so thankyou for your kindness.
Negative experience: recently took our pet here and it's absolutely the last time we ever will. i've brought a few of my pets here over the years (as well as to canon and ball) and 9/10 times i've felt brushed off, like little compassion was given to my pets, and like the vets were under some sort of time crunch which caused them to come off quite uncaring and cold. our most recent visit was utterly heart breaking, our baby returned to us after a really minor procedure a complete shell of herself, fearing to be touched even by her dad whom is her bonded for many years now. when we asked how it went when picking her up just an hour and a half later we felt like we were being rushed out the door and we were assured she would not be effected whatsoever by the anaesthetic. she went from constantly being with her dad and i to sleeping all day, and any attempt to interact with her she'd immediately leave us, extremely wary of being touched. we took her to another vet the day after and it was an entirely different experience. she was treated with such tenderness and genuine compassion, she was handled with firm but gentle hands and returned from the vet in better condition than we took her in as, despite driving to waterloo for this consult. not only this but the vet was incredibly thorough, in simply just a consult. a stark difference from the consult with Dr Mike where he'd not seemed to even visually examine her, at least not to our knowledge as he'd not really expressed as such, nor asked us any questions about her wellbeing. we learned from our most recent vet trip she potentially has liver problems which was actually picked up just upon visual examination, without her even being touched. it makes me seriously nauseous and deeply upset to think about how she was potentially treated in the short time she was at figtree, for her to come back a completely different animal, even cautious of her long-term owner. not only does this vet take your money willy-nilly but i worry what goes on behind closed doors. i'd rather travel an hour and a half to our vet we KNOW we can trust than ever go here again and it hurts to say that, this isn't intended as being inflammatory, just honest, because i wish i'd read the reviews here more thoroughly and took her elsewhere. she's still coming back into herself, but she now bites me whenever i try to feed or pet her, despite before that vet treatment she would eat from my hand most days. she thankfully is at least being more social with her dad.
Positive experience: I've had good experiences here with my staffy, they treated him well for a jaw infection and diagnosed him with hip dysplasia when no other vet throughout his 14 years ever did. Towards the end of his life the girls who euthanized him were lovely about it and gave warming condolences. There have also been times where treatment plans are either misunderstood or not explained properly. Something I was told for my Dachshund would be a fluid sack that if drained would likely keep coming back and isn't harmful, turned out to be a hernia after double checking with the vet because of the length of time it had been there and I wanted to be safe. (They even gave me this consult free of charge because of the miscommunication and I started asking them for the surgery records because I suspected this was a result of her desexing and something went wrong) So then I was recommended surgery and quoted $1100 to have it removed. I happened to be there with my other dog at the time for seperate treatment and I was told they're 6 months overdue for flea tick and worm. I questioned again (not the first time) why I haven't gotten updates through text as previously the updates came through for only 1 dog, now this time it's neither... They just checked my number was correct and said "you should be getting it" A couple days later I call the front desk and spend 7 minutes on the phone asking for quotes to cover their annual vaccinations, worming, flea and tick, I ask for the same flea tick and worm product they always get (bravecto) I'm quoted what I heard was $560 (turned out to be $516) I was put on hold multiple times as well while she calculated the costs. We arrive and I hear one of the girls say (we don't have your dogs microchip on file so I'm going to take this) - strange no one else has picked up on it considering it's his 6th or so visit? (I do suggest you get them to email telephone quotes because what I was told on the phone didn't include what was discussed and I show up being told I have to pay an extra $200 to what was mentioned in my phone quote.) While this happened one of the girls was so brazen and just said "no worries we can just add it on" it went back and forth like this a couple times until I got frustrated and had to explain she wasn't understanding that I was told the wrong amount, not everyone has hundreds of dollars ready to go we had to get our finances in order for this. The girl next to her was very helpful and explained they would need to honour the quote on the profile but surprisingly there was no quote put on there so they tried to contact management while I was there to assist resolving the issue but no one answered. I was told they would be in touch and then had to leave paying the original $516 I was told but with only half their treatment done. I'll be waiting for management to contact me hopefully with a resolution that doesn't involve me paying hundreds more than what I was told. I understand that vet practises are not perfect but I feel as though I've been messed around at this place more times than the average accident and it's very disheartening.
Fantastic experience: Naomi was so beautiful and helpful during a very busy time. So patient and kind thankyou
Thank you for your lovely feedback, Lisa. We’re so pleased to hear you had a great experience.
Warm wishes,

Fantastic experience: I had to say goodbye to my 16yr buddy Pepsi, staff were incredibly kind and empathetic and were open on a public holiday. Thankyou
Hi Giovanni - We’re so grateful you took the time to leave us a review! Your support means a lot to us.
Kind regards,
Illawarra Animal Hospital - Figtree
Negative experience: They do not follow procedures or understand the law regarding animal ownership. Lie about details. And do not have any respect for pet owners rights or perspectives.
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Fantastic experience: Excellent Dr - gave me options and was flexible enough to get a bladder tissue sample on the spot without having to torture my dog with anaesthesia
Hi C Sandov,
We are so happy to hear of your great experience at IAH. We hope everything with the bladder has now be resolved.
Warmest Regards,
Fantastic experience: Our dog Leia was taken care of so well during her operation. We are so happy with the friendly service and the wonderful care Leia received
Fantastic experience: I had a lovely experience at IAH figtree on Thursday night. My pup chewy is a reactive boy and with the help of emmalene in rehab, jade the vet and kelsey on reception, he is gaining more confidence with vet visits. Can’t thank them enough for their patience and kindness.
Fantastic experience: Personally I can't rate them any less than 5 stars. My boy Kong was bitten by a Red Belly 10/24 and again 2 days ago. On both occasions they saved my boys life. Kong and my family would like to give the whole crew at IAH/Figtree a heartfelt thank you , my boy is still alive because of you. Thank you Kong and family
Fantastic experience: Dr Jade, We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the incredible support and assistance you provided for Pedro. Your unwavering dedication and the countless efforts you put in truly made a difference in his journey, you went above and beyond. We deeply appreciate every single thing you did to help him during this time. Your kindness and efforts made a significant difference, we are genuinely thankful for your generosity and commitment and for being there for him when he needed it the most. It meant so much to us Thank you once again! RIP our beautiful furbaby Jeremy and Marina
Negative experience: Would NOT recommend this place. Have taken my dog here before and now my cat. Extremely expensive and very unhelpful. The staff seem to care more about taking your money than they do your fur baby. Will be going elsewhere
Fantastic experience: Have been coming here for a few yrs now, with my dog and cats. They are always kind and caring and have looked after my animals so well. My dog in particular has skin issues and gets a alot of ear infections and he always gets the best of care everytime. Couldn't ask for a better vet and wouldn't dream of going somewhere else.
Fantastic experience: Girls on the front desk always greet you with a smile, great service, expertise, and friendly all round.
Negative experience: Will never take another animal to this money hungry "vet". Took my dog in, he was ill, so he had to stay for treatment. They gave my dog enough medication for a 35kg dog (my dog was 18kg), The overdose killed my dog. I got a call saying my dog was doing great and that they wanted me to pay for the vet bill (I was told twice that I could come into pay it, but the vet didn't want me to come in and pay, but to pay over the phone asap!) After I paid the bill that somehow tripled in size within three hours of leaving my baby there, the veterinarian that was treating my dog, called me back 6 minutes later, to tell me that my dog was dead and that he was trying for 15 minutes to resuscitate him! So when he didn't want me to come in and pay, but to pay over the phone, my dog was actually dead and the vet didn't care to tell me what was happening, because money was way more important. As soon as I was told, i was at the vet in less then 10 minutes. When I saw him, he was stiff as a board! How long was my dog actually dead for??? Karma to the people involved in my baby's death. Response to Michael: If I wasn't lied to and taken advantage of, I would of written a nice review, but that's not the case here. I've taken two dogs to your vet practice, so if we aren’t on file, then how did you “treat” my dog? Unless files were "lost". My dead dog's ashes would beg to differ. Seeing as it was paid over the phone, I have bank records and also, a cremation company came and picked my baby up, so there is record of them being there.
Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend IAH enough. My dog Birdie has been having regular visits for around a year now and every single time I’ve left extremely happy with the services. All the beautiful ladies on reception never fail to greet us with big smiles and love (and treats of course!) and all the amazing vets we’ve seen thus far really have shown their love for animals. Thank you for taking such great care of Birdie, you guys are the best
Fantastic experience: Great Animal Hospital... We found an injured red belly black snake... took it to them and they had no problem with trying to help it... cheers...
Fantastic experience: I could not recommend Illawarra animal hospital any more. We found a lost dog and did not know what to do, felt almost hopeless. We called them up, and they met us with such kindness and helpfulness. The level of care and love they gave this dog still makes me smile. Thank you thank you.
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience at IAH. Emmalene in rehab is caring and treats your dog like her own. The vet Jade was thorough and listened to my concerns. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: What a pleasant experience! I was searching for a new vet after my regular vet retired. Kelsey on reception was super friendly and knowledgeable when enquiring and made us feel comfortable and welcome at the clinic. The Veterinarian was honest and not looking to make money off of me or devise problems. My dog struggled with major anxiety and they were so kind and helpful despite that and she came out happy and fine at the end of the visit. I was so pleased with my first experience and look forward to going back!
Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at this location, thanks largely to the exceptional service provided by the receptionist, Elli. From the moment we arrived, Elli greeted us warmly and assisted us with incredible care and attention. She truly went above and beyond to ensure our visit was positive and comfortable. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: my bird is alive, enough said! thank you dr jade for your kindness and your care! mr schnitzel has come home safe and sound ❤️
Hi Laura,
Thankyou so much for your kind words. We told Dr Jade and she was thrilled to hear of your positive experience. We are so happy Mr Schnitzel came home safe <3
Team IAH
Fantastic experience: I've been to numerous vets in Wollongong with multiple dogs, and honestly, I can't speak highly enough about this vet and all their staff. They are empathetic, attentive, caring, understanding, and always ready to give me all the information I need about my dogs treatment and treatment plan. They are forthcoming, and no questions are left unanswered, and it's done in an efficient and effective manner. I've had a special case were my dog was flying under the radar with multiple illnesses, and it took the amazing vets at Figtree less than a week to figure her diagnosis out. It's well-equipped with modern technology and personally I feel it's a one-stop shop.
Fantastic experience: Have always had a great experience with my two bunnies. The team at IAH are kind and always giving the best treatment needed. All Staff members especially Brooke, Grace & Jade are great at what they do. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Thanks for always helping my guineapigs + my dog!
Fantastic experience: I cant speak highly enough of all the staff the entire team at the Illawarra Animal Hospital Figtree. Dr Ryan Nunes did an excellent job orthopedic (patella) surgery on my little dog Bella, he was a very kind and caring vet.
Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with my experience here. My dog was brought in for emergency as was advised on the phone by staff, to then be told to go to another hospital (I had called assuming you were a hospital) would’ve been nice to have been told this prior to coming in to save me the fees of 2 hospitals. I was still charged the emergency fee. then came in for a check up appointment, charged EXTREMELY high prices without being quoted with a vet who would not answer any questions we asked. I complained to the staff and was told I would be contacted by the manager the next day regarding my experience and did not hear anything. I had then left the vet after this and on the way out the girls at reception were shaking their heads at each other. Since no issues were resolved with my dog here, we had to go to another vet.
Negative experience: Stay away! Bad service, bad attitude for an exorbitant price.
Negative experience: Worst vet iv ever been to. They don’t care about your pets all they care about is your money and taking as much of it as they possibly can!
Negative experience: My beautiful dog went in for a surgery and it cost me 2 grand just for a small cut on her leg after they told me tops $1200 and they told me the price over the phone then when I went in and asked them about the price and why it’s so much they just said I agreed with it over the phone highly recommend going to a different vet
Negative experience: I had once given Illawarra Animal Hospital a five star rating, however I thought it was time to update that review some 4 years later. Since writing the previous review, the staff have changed and more importantly the level of care your pets receive has changed. The owner Paul is amazing but I don’t know if he is even there any more. The staff treat you like a number with hardly any personal interaction with staff. The staff at the front desk are still friendly thankfully but the vets themselves couldn’t care less if your pet lives or dies as long as you’re paying the bill. I paid thousands for a surgery they botched and had to take my cat back to them. They “fixed” their mistakes after forcing me to pay them a few more hundred dollars and sent the cat home. She passed away sometime that night. When I rang them they offered all kinds of excuses but no one would tell me why a “simple” procedure ended the way it did. Avoid this vet at all costs. Your pets definitely deserve better.
Negative experience: first and last time here. Easter Saturday we noticed a spot in our cats eye and Our usual vet was closed and we were going away. The vet looked in her eye said it looks like it’s something that is healing. Gave us 3 medications . $500 for 10 minutes. Well it never got better and we have taken her to our vet . It was an ulcer !! Its so big now she needs surgery, if it was properly diagnosed we could have got a cone on her early and put cream in every 2 hours is what was supposed to happen. I understand it was a public holiday but almost $500 for 10 mins and creams it’s criminal and makes me feel sick . Do not recommend purely for not diagnosing something that is not complicated. Oh and I asked to clip her claws while i was there.$27 and I had to hold her ! I offered and assumed I wouldn’t be charged.
Fantastic experience: Had my dog in for an orthopaedic surgery on her hip. They looked after her amazingly and constantly gave me updates on how she was doing. Their service was fantastic and I couldn’t recommend them enough.
Hi Matt,
Thankyou so much for your review! We are so happy to hear Zali is doing well. We know how worried you would have been during her stay with us so our nurses loved giving you updates! We treat our patients like they are a part of our family and know we would want as many updates as possible too.
Wishing Zali a very smooth recovery! Please let us know if there is anything you might need in the meantime. We look forward to seeing you and Zali again soon!
Thanks, IAH <3
Negative experience: Not happy Jan. Michael, unfortunately you seem to have left out a few facts in your rebuttal, easy to do since I didn’t give details, just a statement of dissatisfaction. Perhaps you can ring the RSPCA for an update on what happened after you gave her to them - it might surprise you to know the microchip owners did not reclaim her at all. The saga continued for weeks. Also, council workers did not bring her to you - a resident did when our phone was out of range and the call did not come through to us to tell us she’d gotten out; you can probably scroll through the Figtree Residents page to track down her movements on that fateful day. Finally, whilst you didn’t treat her on that day, you did treat her multiple times over the past 2 year period - we were regular clients and you happily took our money even though we were not the microchipped owner. I guess that’s what the small claims court is for. I will not be engaging on this matter any further here, phone or email, what’s done is done.
Negative experience: My partner attended the vet surgery yesterday to make the hard decision to have her senior dog euthanised. She is currently battling cancer and was charged $700. The dog weighs less than 10kg is a small terrior. I find this outrageous and money hungry! Would not recommend this vet practice at all!
Negative experience: We have had a bad experience and wished we've read the comments on here before we took our beloved dog to this vet's! One toepad got torn and was recommended to get stitches by them costed nearly 1 thousand $. We got charged as walking in when appointment were booked. We were never told that following check ups were never included in healing processes 2 days later $60 and every 2 consecutive days $130 for bandages and booked us on for next check up Xmas eve but left voicemail that the hospital were closed on the answering machine. We went back on their first reopened day. Our dogs foot didn't heal and got infected. Charged us another $130 and took no responsibility . Our dogs foot now treated as an open wound. Back to square one after all that infinity check ups and costly surgery! We're taking our dog's elsewhere . This place is expensive ,unreliable , poor communication and misleading! Please do not take your beloved animals here!!!! Don't make the same mistake as us..
Negative experience: We have been cannon and ball customers for many years, and i have totally lost faith in IAH. Leonie saw our dog on a Saturday 7th October we paid the 25% surcharge on evetything including ProN8ure and the vet was obviously put out by having to see our dog. She gave him a anti nausea injection and we said what else can we do? She said you could possibly do bloods but only after we asked. We lost faith in this vet and took our dog to Greencross where he was quickly diagnosed with cancer. Dont trust these vets and there exhorbitant rates. DUE TO THE DELAY AND MIS DIAGNOSIS OUR DOG IS NOW DEAD.
Fantastic experience: A big thank-you to Dr Leoni and all the staff at Illawarra Animal Hospital Figtree! They were all very friendly, caring, knowledgeable and helpful in the recovery of my bird. Super happy with the professional service.
Hey Jonathan! Thanks for your kind words and awesome review. We really appreciated and look forward to telling Dr Leonie your kind words also. We are so happy to hear Dr Leonie found out what was wrong and Wonga is recovering well! Thanks again, Team IAH
Negative experience: Terrible. My dog has been a patient here for almost two years and in that time it has been nothing but hard work. The staff really let this place down, there seems to be no communication between staff and vets, incorrect information is given all the time or you're simply told 'we'll call you back' and nothing happens. Zero follow up and they have this really bizarre system with insurance where they won't share documents for insurance claims but instead want your login details to do it themselves - which I might add over the course of 2 years, they have made one claim - LOL. I feel like I have put in more work than the staff here at times, following up to get an answer on things they said they would do. Today was the final straw, after confirming multiple times with staff the situation, once again it turns out what they say is in complete contradiction to what the vets actually say. A huge waste of my time and theirs. This place has a clear business model of profits before patients as every tiny thing comes with a charge - which is totally fine if they are actually good at what they do - and it feels at though they are constantly finding new things to charge you for where no two visits are ever the same. I've never had a booked appointment go on time, on average it is a 30min wait AFTER your booked in time and then once you finally see the vet, they seem to have zero context or any of the information the front of house staff confirm or ask about before the appointment. I'm taking my pet elsewhere because unless they start to pay me for the work I have to do just to get a straight answer out of them it is not worth it. Take your pet and your money elsewhere.
Negative experience: We’ve been going to this vet clinic for nearly two years and I’ve had enough of the miscommunication, disorganisation and extortionate pricing. Reception Staff consistently give us incorrect information about our dogs blood testing regime, medication and appointment details. Staff never know what is going on. Last night, I got 3 phone calls in 30 mins regarding instructions for my pet’s appointment, and we show up today and the instructions were STILL wrong and the tests couldn’t be done. A vet diagnosed my dog’s seizure as an EYE infection and sent us home. He nearly died and has permanent palsy in his face. Never again. This place is ridiculous.
Fantastic experience: I cannot put into words how fantastic and amazing the vet clinic and Dr Ryan are. From the moment we brought our extremely sick cat in with kidney failure, they had shown true interest in getting him better, and not bleeding us dry in the process. They talked us through everything and explained it all in layman's terms so that we could fully understand the situation and what was required for our furr baby. I would not recommend any other veterinary clinic in the Illawarra. I have no doubt the Yallah clinic will have the same standards. Incredible service.
