Fantastic experience: I can hardly believe the loving care and compassion given to me when I took my dying dog, Duffy, to these vets. A vet nurse carried him inside and made him comfortable in a private room, then the vet gave me time alone to say goodbye. This is a truly amazing team.

Fantastic experience: The best vet we have ever been to!!! We just had to bring our 1 year old Kelpie in to have some of his toy removed from between his teeth and it was all sorted within 5 minutes. We spoke with Diane over the phone and she was a great help, but ultimately told us to come in. We then had Bree as our vet nurse and she was able to dislodge the bit of toy so quickly and so carefully. Really appreciate all the help, and this will hands down be our go-to vet moving forward! THANK YOU !!!!!

We took our 9 week old puppy into the clinic for his first check and vaccinations and we were impressed with the incredible staff and service our pup loved it. He was super calm in the environment, he didn't want to leave the because it was so great! Couldn't recommend them enough!

Fantastic experience: This morning I took our 2.5 yr old Lab/Kelpie to Vets of Geelong in Highton after she ate a Blue Bottle Jelly Fish on the beach at Barwon Heads. The women on reception were fabulous when I called from the beach and the Vet Dr Nathan was amazing. He had spoken to a specialist vet who’d spoken to another specialist so he had the latest info and knew exactly how to deal with a rare situation. Happy Polly- aka- iron guts is fine ! Just sleeping off the antihistamines!

Fantastic experience: You’ll find the most kind, caring and friendly team at Vets of Geelong Highton. My dog is an extremely difficult, scared patient due to sole pretty horrible health issues early in his life. But he is always treated with such kindness and the vets and nurses go above and beyond to accommodate. Shout out to Dr Sue who Louie really does like despite trying to bite you at every visit!

Positive experience: Amazing vets! Clean facilities. Modern and bright . 5 stars for that! Unfortunately, being a large echoey, clinical space, with not much furniture, and noisy doors opening and shutting, its a very noisy place and is stressful for sensitive animals like cats. Might have to choose less busy times for my puddy cat. Or suggest maybe a quiet room in the waiting area?

Negative experience: It has taken me months to build up the courage to write this review, and my intention is solely to help other pet owners make an informed decision and to hopefully prevent what we went through from happening again. I previously contacted Vets of Geelong with my concerns, but I felt that my feedback wasn’t taken seriously, which worries me. I’d rather move on from all of this and not leave this review, but if sharing my experience helps even one pet owner, it will be worth it. Most of the staff we encountered were kind and empathetic, and initially, we had positive experiences. I acknowledge that many pet owners have had positive experiences here (as evident in some of the higher-rated reviews), and I can attest that this was our experience as well when we first started taking our dogs here. However, serious treatment failures led to significant concerns. One of our dogs nearly needed her toe amputated due to an insufficient antibiotic dose and lack of X-rays, while another developed pancreatitis from excessively strong medication—despite my request for caution. I was horrified to later learn that the medication that was given to him was one of the strongest available and it had a warning label on it saying to not administer to sensitive animals. Both cases were promptly resolved by a different vet at a different clinic, and for one of our dogs, it was a long process of strengthening and healing the affected bone to avoid amputation for what started as a nail infection. When I called reception to speak with a senior staff member to share my concerns, I was told to email the general email address at reception instead. Despite marking my email as confidential, I didn’t feel it was right for my feedback to be read by anyone and everyone at the clinic. I received a call weeks later from the Client Services Manager, not a vet, who defended the treatments by saying that she was “comfortable” with the choice of treatment. When I expressed my concerns and shared feedback that there were many others on local Facebook groups with similar concerns, I was told not to speak and that I was being “unkind” rather than given a chance to discuss how my dogs were impacted. This conversation was deeply upsetting and disappointing. Acknowledging errors and validating client experiences is crucial in veterinary care. My issue isn’t with individual vets—who I believe are doing their best—but rather a lack of support for complex cases. In our experience, vets sometimes lacked the necessary expertise or opted for overly cautious treatments. On multiple visits, what should have been simple procedures required repeat appointments, and basic misinformation (such as the claim that non-steroidal ear infection medication doesn't exist) led us to seek alternative care. In truth, we felt many of the visits were transactional and that we were never really in the hands of someone we could trust. Disappointingly, the Client Services Manager (now possibly HR Manager?) advised us to find another vet, which turned out to be the best thing in the end. The contrast in knowledge at our new clinic reaffirmed our concerns. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken on board, even if it’s just for the sake of offering our pets the care that they deserve, seeing as they can't advocate for themselves. EDITED AFTER RECEIVING RESPONSE: I very much appreciate the reply and acknowledgement. We may have to agree to disagree on the course of treatment, but I appreciate that the vets did their best, and this was always my angle. I’m disappointed to read that i had made repeated disparaging personal remarks about the team, that is simply untrue and upsetting to read. I did try to speak but I wasn’t given much opportunity. The conversation was very one-sided from my perspective. I didn’t want to share this publicly earlier, but I was left in tears after the phone call and I had witnesses on my side of the conversation. I wish it had been recorded.

Fantastic experience: We had been to vets of Geelong - highton once before on a weekend and had positive experience. We were in the market for a new regular vet so I took my 9 year old dog Rue for a check up yesterday. It was honestly such a positive and comprehensive appointment and would highly recommend Dr Kate Goodfellow. Definitely our new ongoing vet.

Fantastic experience: Exceptional service and professional help. Unfortunately it was time to say good bye to our beloved furry feline friend and the staff were attentive and kind, our daughter was very upset at losing her little mate but the vet doctor explained the process in a calming and professional manner to ease the process. The after care was above and beyond also, we can't thank the team enough for their very generous condolences. Very highly recommend this vet practice and when we gain a new furry family member, Vets of Geelong will be our place to go for their health needs. Cheers again!

Fantastic experience: We took our adored dog Ruby to Vets of Geelong Highton and Geelong West this week, and were absolutely blessed to be assisted by Beth on both occasions. Beth was so kind and caring, she discussed our options during the first visit and allowed us time to process everything, while our family spent a couple of additional days with Ruby at home. Beth made an absolutely heartbreaking time that little bit easier. Ruby was treat with the greatest of care. Beth you are an amazing vet and a total asset to Vets of Geelong. We could never thank you enough for how you cared for Ruby, and the kindness and compassion you showed us. Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: I originally left a 5 star review 4 years ago, but it was really inadequate given the amazing experiences we have had with the Vets of Geelong Highton since then. Our cats have all somehow had relatively complicated or unusual health issues pop up over the years, and the team at Highton have dealt with each one with thoroughness, compassion, and empathy. They've helped with coming to our home (15 minutes away from the clinic) when it was time to say good bye to 2 of our furbabies, and we got to hold them in the comfort of our home as they crossed the rainbow bridge, which we valued and appreciated more than I can put into words. From those goodbyes, to dental cleans/extractions, a kidney removal, a skin cancer removal, IBS, and basically everything in between the team at Highton have supported us and helped us find answers along the way. Thank you for all that you do!!

Fantastic experience: We took our very unwell chicken to Vets of Geelong Highton. I was so impressed and comforted by the level of care and empathy Dr Kate had. While some might not be as attached to a bird as they are a dog or cat, Kate was soooo caring and absolutely lovely regardless. Our kind experience was cemented with a handwritten sympathy card sent in the post after our chicken was euthanised. Thank you to all, we will always come there from now on.

Fantastic experience: I took my cat Perry there this week after he suffered a dislocated leg socket and possible breakage. I was pretty upset to say the least. Facing amputation or possibly putting him down, I was unsure how to proceed. When I rang them to let them know they told me they had managed to get his leg back in. No amputation and no putting him down. Whilst he was there, they texted me pictures and messages to ease my anxiety. I even got a follow up text this morning after picking him up yesterday. I have worked in customer service for a very long time and what the team at highton displayed was nothing short of outstanding. Perry is home and happy and it's all thanks to the work put in by the team at Highton Vets. Kindness, compassion and results. How can i not be happy? All my pets moving forward have now found a new vet. A special thanks to Dr. Lucy. Pt. 2: Perry's leg managed to redislocate itself this morning much to my dismay. A quick phonecall to the guys at Highton and I was able to see Dr. Nick who managed to rectify the problem. Roller-coaster of a week softened by a fantastic service. Thanks again guys!

Negative experience: This review is purely based on pricing as I had no issue with the staff I encountered. I visited this clinic a few weeks ago and was quoted $1800 for a procedure, went to another vet that I’ve previously used and paid $300 for the same procedure. Charging $1500 more is just crazy, definitely will never return.

Fantastic experience: We were first timers to Vets of Geelong Highton after our vet appointment at a different clinic was cancelled and left us extremely concerned for our girl. We’ve experienced nothing but impeccable customer service and the utmost compassion by all the staff we’ve dealt with, they squeezed us in on the same day and we truly feel did everything to try to help our girl, Fettuccine. Unfortunately we had to make the heartbreaking choice to end her struggling and euthanise our sweet girl and I can not explain how grateful we are for Rachel and Britt who contacted us and allowed us to come in and see Fettuccine before making the decision and gave us the chance to say goodbye and be there for our girl as she passed. We weren’t rushed at all even though the clinic was closed, we were given so much support and they both showed so much empathy and compassion. They truly went above and beyond and the experience is invaluable to my husband and I. We went in yesterday to finalise cremation plans and the beautiful soul at the front desk was so patient and compassionate and provided amazing customer service. I can not recommend this clinic and the staff more.

Today was the day we put our Bella girl to sleep and we had Vet Beth along Bella’s recent journey right up until the end. We were certainly lucky to have you Beth. It was bitter sweet in the end. Negative experience: Relatively new clients. The actual vet care/interaction itself was professional and friendly which was the plus. Poor client services and rather impersonal front desk engagement here however. I recently contacted client services about an issue I had experienced attending Highton clinic. I found the response by customer/client service staff unsatisfactory and unhelpful. Basically it was suggested that it was my prerogative to go to another vet. Yes that is true.

Fantastic experience: On numerous occasions Vets of Geelong Highton have cared for our four furbabies, at times when they were very unwell and also with complex health issues. We have always received thorough and comprehensive care, with sound clinical intuition. We can’t thank you enough for all that you do - veterinary medicine is a challenging field but you all do it with compassion and genuine care.

Fantastic experience: Dr Nick, Dr Beth and all the staff at Vets of Geelong - Highton are simply amazing. They showed genuine compassion and care during the passing of our cat. It is hard to express how sensitive and compassionate they are when dealing with the loss of a pet. We also received commiseration flowers and card which was a lovely touch.

Negative experience: Extremely expensive consult,$111for a 5-6 minute consult which involved conversation ,fetching product,and a squeeze of my dogs stomach. Maddie was friendly and professional ,and I would see her again. Reception were unfriendly and were not even able to make eye contacts as a basic courtesy. Would not necessarily recommend them.

Negative experience: Disappointed as I called them straight after my dog had been hit by a car asking if we could bring him straight in. (This is our regular vet for vaccinations and check ups). I was told however they were fully booked. I believe they advertise as an emergency vet clinic however? So bit confused as it wasn’t after hours either. We were told to go to Geelong emergency vets (who were outstanding). Just a let down as I would have preferred to taken our boy to his regular vet where they know all his details.

Negative experience: Had an appointment but was told that walk ins had priority. I understand prioritising sicker animals first but instead of being told they were busy, they decided to make me wait for an hour with my dog who was in pain. Very poor management

Fantastic experience: Could not recommend this team any more! Dr Kate has been so amazing with my cat, and has been so calm and friendly each time we have been in. The front of house team are also very lovely, always greeting us with a smile and asking after the cat. This vet clinic love their clients and it shows through and through. Dr Kate and the team have put in every effort to make sure my cat is healthy and happy, and have shown compassion every step of the way. Thank you guys for everything that you do!

After taking my cat Honey that had an eye issue to our regular vet 3-4 times over 3 months with no real resolution, I came here for one appointment and given such good advice, treatment & care. Honey’s eye has now cleared up and not had any flare ups for over a month and she’s loving it!

Fantastic experience: We had the horrible experience of putting our old girl Shadow down earlier this week, it was a very traumatic experience for myself and my family but the caring staff are so empathetic! From the moment I initially phoned the clinic, till the very moment we left all the staff, were absolutely incredible. Fantastic experience: *Edited 14/09/2023* Yesterday my beautiful 14yrs old fur family member had to be put down. Dr Rachael Johnstone was so kind and came in on her day off to help send Cougar of to Rainbow Bridge from home. She even brought a candle with her to light. It was heartbreaking but the most beautiful experience anyone could ask for. Thank you Rachael for loving Cougar and making her last moments on earth so special being surrounded by so much love. ORIGINAL REVIEW We usually go to the sister clinic In Geelong West but whenever we come to Highton for an emergency we feel so thankful that they are open late and on weekends. The communication between both clinics is wonderful and we really appreciate that we see some of the same Vet Nurses at both clinics who know our pets. I feel very thankful Vets of Geelong is the vet we take our fur family to. We were at the Highton clinic late last night and the vet was wonderful with our elderly sick dog. I would highly recommend Vets of Geelong to anyone in the area as they really do look after your pet and will always fit you in if something is wrong.

Fantastic experience: Chanel was taken for Emergency care on a Sunday with paralysis of her rear limbs. She had been trampled by a kangaroo but this was not evident at the time. I eould like to thank all the loving staff and especially Dr Kate Goodfellow. Fantastic experience: An amazing team of health care professionals. They have provided exceptional care to all of our pets on every occasion. Their professionalism and skills have especially been appreciated in the last few months. Thanks to them one of our cats has survived a snake bite and another one has successfully undergone a necessary and intensive surgery very successfully. This is additional to the ongoing routine care they provide to our other pets. I have the highest regard for the teams at both Geelong west and highton. Fantastic experience: Genuine people who actually care. Took new puppy in for vaccines and checkup and they were attentive and helpful. They were also extremely caring and kind whilst assisting with our cats end of life. Would 100% recommend these people for your vet needs.

Negative experience: Had an emergency consult on a Sunday afternoon for a very sick foster dog from a rescue group. Paid $390 No real diagnosis given as no diagnostic tests done but thought it may be giardia. Given medication for 5 days which ran out on day 2. I gave the correct dose. Next day dog was very 'flat'. Tried to get another emergency appointment severely dehydrated 'flat' dog. Could not fit me in until 3pm. Walked into Kadinia Vet practice seen straight away and treated. Didn't get charged anything by the kind vet. I assume he wanted to help a poor dog rescued from a pound and now in foster care
