Negative experience: My cat was limping and constantly going to toilet. The vet confirmed he wasn't suffering from anything life threatening, and had multiple testing done to confirm, which is reassuring. However I was a bit surprised there's no form needed for anaesthetic, which would have been important. More importantly, the vet correctly took x ray and concluded that the limping wasn't related to the constant toilet visit, but offered no real conclusion as to why it was happening. Several days later I went to another vet for a check up, as the toilet issue was getting better but limping looks just as bad. It turns out the xray missed 3 bone fractured, and that was done without any anaesthetic. Overall I think it was at least comforting thorough test was done, but at the same time it was disappointing how the causes of the limping was missed with the xray done.

Fantastic experience: Thank you so much to Dr. Angus and the CARE team for taking such amazing care of our boy Mystic. We also had a fantastic consultation with Dr. Brenton previously. After 8 weeks of conservative rest our five-year-old dachshund was still stage 2, and slipped into stage 3 IVDD within a few hours of his appointment. It was so nervewracking to see him go under for CT scan and surgery so quickly, but Dr. Angus put us at ease and we were able to bring him home sooner than expected. The nurses were so kind and compassionate when we called to check on him, and everyone has been really reassuring and helpful throughout his recovery. We cannot recommend CARE enough - we are so grateful for them!

Fantastic experience: My dog was very sick and it was found it was too late for him. The staff and the vet treated us with so much compassion. They were busy, they were understaffed but I was able to say goodbye and hold my much loved pet. And my beautiful boy was treated with so much dignity. And they did the admin of letting our vet know. Negative experience: I've come to this hospital once or twice before this most recent visit and it's been satisfactory. However, my most recent visit was very subpar. I brought my cat in to get an abscess checked out and cleaned. The vet said that he needed to be admitted to the hospital for a couple hours and so we needed to put back into his carrier. At this point, my cat was growling and receded to a corner. A nurse then came in with a towel to help out, to whom I said "just letting you know that he's got a big wound on his head". And she got so cranky and said aggressively that "I'm just trying to protect myself" and "why don't you guys leave for now?". I've never been treated so rudely at a vet before, but maintained my calm and offered to put my cat into the carrier myself, which I managed to do successfully. Then, coming back home after the vet visit, I noticed my cat excessively licking the side of his body. I think this might have been the spot where the sedation injection was administered to him. I called CARE to ask whether that's the spot where the injection was administered but they couldn't confirm as my cat's vet was already off shift. My cat has never had problems with injections before, and this is the first time this has happened. My main issues with this whole experience are: - Both vet and nurse not willing to deal with a scared cat (I understand the fear, but they're professionals and should be able to manage their fear) - Nurse was super rude to me - Sedation injection not administered properly. - Details of my cat's treatment not detailed properly, which causes over reliance on the availability of the doctor who treated my cat.

Fantastic experience: I would give this clinic 100 stars if I could - we have had the misfortune of needing them for both our gorgeous cat and dog several times particularly during the night and have seen several vets and staff - without question every single human working there gives the most exceptional customer service experience - every single time - from the front desk staff who have had to talk me down from a panic attack - who are warm, directive and empathetic- to the incredibly calm super informative and top class vets - we cannot speak more highly of them … our cat in particular is an extremely anxious boi and the gentle way every vet has treated him means he doesn’t hate me for taking him there … I also want to note they do not ever put you under pressure to do anything unnecessary or extra at any time - they are measured and give you options and are very upfront about the fees - the nature of the service means it can be a very expensive experience but we have never felt any pressure to spend more than we have to or put our pet under more than necessary stressful tests etc … if you need an emergency vet then you are already upset and vulnerable and you could seriously not be in better or kinder hands - highly highly recommend

Negative experience: Last Sunday (15 Feb 2026) around 9:30 am, we took our miniature labradoodle (Mika) to the ER after noticing a lump on her leg that was growing rapidly. My partner and I were very worried, especially as she had been limping two weeks earlier and we thought it might be related. I want to be fair with this review. The reception staff and triage nurse were lovely, kind and supportive. Unfortunately, our experience changed when it was time for the examination. Dr. Caitlin came out, asked a few questions and took our dog inside to examine her. A few minutes later, she returned and told us that, based on her assessment, our dog had cancer and needed urgent pathology tests. My partner started crying, and I asked whether this diagnosis needed further confirmation. She said that because the tissue was not soft and the lump had grown quickly, she believed it was cancer, and advised us to see our regular vet the next day as pathology was closed on Sundays. As you can imagine, this news devastated us. We barely slept and rushed to get the earliest appointment with our local vet the next morning. Our vet was shocked by what we had been told and said there was no way cancer would develop that quickly, and that it was unprofessional to suggest a diagnosis like that without proper testing. She suspected it was an abscess. She took a sample, and after looking it under the microscope she told us that it was definitely an infection and the chances of cancer were very low. Our dog had surgery later that day at Elwood Vet, where the surgeon confirmed it was an abscess. We still chose to send it to pathology for peace of mind, and today we received the results. Our dog does not have cancer. Now that the situation is clear, I feel extremely frustrated. The initial assessment (misdiagnosis) at CARE put us through an unnecessary emotional rollercoaster that no pet owner should experience. Sadly, after this experience, we will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: How do I give 1 million stars? Honestly, I cannot recommend the team at CARE enough to any pet owner, that truely loves their pet. My dog Indy, was admitted to CARE in a very critical state, with a severely life threatening case of diabetic keto acidosis - the team at CARE showed nothing but professionalism, compassion, and most importantly, CARE! Whether it was the amazing girls at the front desk, the amazing nurses and vets, or the amazing internal medicine team - everyone played an immense role in making sure they did everything they could to ensure the best possible outcome for my dog, Indy, and for that I am incredibly grateful. Indy spent over a week in CARE, and I have absolutely zero negative comments to make. Everything they did for her was amazing, even down to the compassion of the nurses, taking the time to sit with my dog and give her the affection she needs when she gets a bit down. Now, I can confidently say that Indy is back at home with her family, where she belongs (with her beloved toy chicken, ofcourse). Thanks again to the team at CARE, Indy wouldn’t have made it without you.

Negative experience: Told me my dog had ate a lethal dose of chocolate and to come immediately to induce vomiting. After waiting an hour and a half they saw my dog looked at him for less than a minute and said the amount he ate is non lethal dose and charged me $215. They could have calculated it over the phone saved us $215 and an hour and a half. No apology for wasting our time. Absolutely disgusting money grab scam.

Fantastic experience: I would like to start off my review by saying how greatful I am for the customer service and care that this vet clinic gives. I have been once before with another one of my pets and left their with my mr bean feeling like I was listened too and he come home and made a full recovery. Sadly this Sunday my other bunny fell very ill tragically and quickly. After being declined from multiple other vet’s when I needed urgent care for my flopsy these guys welcomed us straight in. From the moment I stepped in I felt comfortable and that flopsy would be in good hands. The lady’s on the desk where absolutely lovely, the gentlemen that took my flopsy explained everything throughly and I felt comfortable handing her over. Sadly flopsy was too far gone and passed peacefully on her own. When one of the vets called me to let me know as you could imagine I was distraught but he was fantastic and I felt like flopsy had gone surrounded by love and like she had been treated like their own. I am so greatful for this as you could imagine not being able to bring my pet home I was in a fragile state. I came in to say my final goodbyes to my girl and they explained everything in a lovely way and I felt so happy I chose this clinic for my flopsy, it has made the process of losing my girl so much easier. Thanks again to the team for looking after my girl I am forever greatful.

Fantastic experience: This clinic was very supportive in a horrible time for me when my dog became suddenly ill with a mysterious condition that was causing her a lot of pain. She had trouble standing and pain in her spine, causing spinal tremors. She was deteriorating rapidly. They gave me time with my dog as she lay in ICU. They gave me privacy and time to digest the decisions I had to make. They gave me all the information regarding her condition and diagnostics. I realised I had to let her go so that she could rest peacefully and they let me stay there with her in privacy after she had died on my arm. There wasn't much else that they could do and I can not blame them for that. Unfortunately this happens even in the human medical field. I was able to let her transcend peacefully and every staff member was very supportive. I was surprised at the reasonable price for an emergency vet on a Sunday. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I cannot give high enough praise to the whole team at CARE; the surgeons, vets, nurses and receptionist staff were all amazing. Our dog Marty was incredibly sick having a septic abdomen from a gall stone and had two surgeries and spent two weeks in special care. Throughout the whole experience they gave the very best care to him and were incredibly kind and compassionate to my partner and I dealing with all sorts of emotions. They dealt with financial matters, visitation and explained his health issues with the uttermost professionalism. Your furry friends are in good hands here.

Fantastic experience: The most amazingly caring and understanding staff, from reception to the nurses to the doctors. Just yesterday I had to go in to have our beautiful 20yr old cat Ruby laid to rest, and although the waiting room was full, they did their upmost to make the process so smooth, quick and pain free for Ruby, whilst giving me all the time I needed to say goodbye. Fantastic experience: Big thanks to Dr Dave and the whole reception and nursing team who helped see my dog today. He had eaten something he wasn't meant to and I went on straight away. There were a few animals seen before me and I did wait almost an hour but during that time a nurse had triaged us and the reception team kept me updated with waiting times. Very happy with the service and medical care received. Once you are seen they were fairly quick to diagnose and provide the appropriate treatment. I highly recommend this emergency vet if you need urgent care for your pet.

Fantastic experience: Dr Brooke and the team at CARE were wonderful with our old boy Max. During a distressing middle of the night emergency, these amazing people gently but decisively did their best to help our very poorly dog. Fantastic experience: Dr Guy Yates has been looking after our greyhound this year and has been absolutely fantastic! He has taken a great interest in making sure Pingu gets better and I can happily report that she is doing very well after having a few rough months this year. Fantastic experience: My frenchie who has a pre-existing heart condition had a (unrelated) surgery at CARE today. Before scheduling the surgery, Dr Brenton went through the process and possibilities/treatment options in great detail so I knew what the surgery entailed and possible next steps, and happily answered/clarified my questions. Two days before the initially scheduled surgery, he got sick and the vets at CARE rushed him in and treated him in the hopes he would be better in time for surgery. Unfortunately, he was still slightly unwell on his surgery date, and Dr Brenton kindly checked over him and rescheduled the surgery to a later date (today), as he deemed it better to be safe than sorry. When picking up our dog earlier today, post surgery, he seemed so comfortable at the clinic. His surgery was a success - despite many other clinics to refuse to consider operating without specialist anaesthesia. I cannot recommend Dr Brenton and CARE enough.

Fantastic experience: Dr Angus is a legend. He took such good care of my Am staff with knee reconstruction and explained everything so thoroughly, better than any other surgeon I’ve consulted (many) before choosing the right place for TPLO. Fantastic experience: I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful clinic close by! My dog Ronnie got sick quite suddenly this week, with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. I have never seen him so unwell! He ended up in and out for almost a week and spent three nights in hospital. The team at CARE have been nothing short of amazing. From the reception team, to the ICU nurses, to the vets - they were compassionate, thorough, patient and a pleasure to deal with. This is the first major illness my dog has had and I was so scared, but knowing he was in their care was a huge relief! Yes, sometimes you need to wait to be seen but that’s the nature of an emergency department. Having spent days watching them triage pets and juggle so many competing priorities at once, I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the team. Ronnie is home and happy, and on the road to recovery thanks to these legends!

Fantastic experience: My cat Dodo spent the very last part of his life with vet here, and I am so, so grateful for the care we both received. The vets and staff were incredibly kind and gentle, and treated Dodo with so much respect and warmth. I also accidentally left behind the towel I used to wrap him that day , which is the last thing that still held his warmth.The staff helped me look for it over two days until they finally found it. Negative experience: In a time of complete distress and vulnerability, this hospital did not take care of my cat, they did not do anything to help him, and they were so mean and condescending to me for caring about my cat. They said “if we can help him we will try, but he likely won’t make it through the night and we aren’t going to do anything for him until tomorrow”…. It was only 3pm in the afternoon when they said that… not like the middle of the night or anything…. They kept him for 2 days, charged $3000 and did nothing. Within hours of having him home he needed to be taken to another hospital and we were so lucky to have our cat seen in time, he only had hours left before he would have died and CARE Veterinary Hospital were negligent and could have cost my cat his life. I will NEVER come back to this hospital and I hope they have an attitude adjustment, specially Kate the intake nurse/vet. She was horrible.

Fantastic experience: Someone on Bourke Street threw Brian (the kitten) from their moving truck during rush hour. I picked him up and we walked for hours trying to find somewhere to take him in. Fantastic experience: We unfortunately have no experience of the medical care provided by this clinic, as our beloved Meow Meow passed on the way to the clinic on 20 August. But I can say that my initial distressed phone call was handled with professionalism, and we were treated with nothing but kindness and compassion after we arrived there completely distraught. We were given a private room and as much time as we needed in which to hold her and say goodbye, and a kind staff member explained the aftercare options - all while they were dealing with other ongoing emergencies. We were also sent a fur clipping in the mail without us having to chase this up. I can't say how grateful I am for the time and space we were given on that terrible night. Thank you, CARE team

Negative experience: We had a bad experience today. The vet doesn’t have the patience and knowledge to handle my anxious pup for having diarrhoea. She made a huge show of not seeing my pup after my pup barked at her. I was trying to give her a heads up that my pup is anxious and give her treats to feed my pup to build some connections. She charged an expensive fee but didn’t do much. Quite a rip off.

Fantastic experience: We attended CARE on multiple occasions when my chronically ill bunny would suddenly decline — which of course always happened right after her regular vet had closed for the night. We were there a few times in her last few days, and the level of care we both received still makes my eyes well up four months later. The vets at CARE aren’t rabbit experts, but they had enough knowledge and training to temporarily treat the life-threatening symptoms of her complex health issues. When it became apparent that there was nothing more that could be done for my sweet girl, the vet gave her enough supportive care to give us one more night with her and so that she could pass in the comfort of her regular vet clinic surrounded by those who knew her. A nurse who was on her break recognised our surname from when we were in a couple of nights earlier and came out to see what was happening. She sat talking with me for a while and hugged me when I became inconsolable. I wish I could remember her name, but I’ll forever remember her kindness. The wait times can sometimes be long, but that simply means you’re not the most urgent case at that very moment. The level of care you receive once it is your turn is worth it.

Negative experience: Our dog sitter brought our dog here after she had eaten a box of chocolates. She was given antinausea meds and subjected to multiple tests, including MRI, ultrasound, blood tests and kept on site to be monitored. The vet recommended that she stay overnight, for further tests in the morning and possible surgery for the distended abdomen. I decided to collect my dog, who did three big poops outside the vet hospital....bowel no longer distended. Dog cured. Total cost.... $1,700 Cost at my usual vet when this happened in the past..$470 (vomiting induced and sent home) Sorry but overservicing and overpriced.

Fantastic experience: So great! Emily was fantastic helping me while I was indecisive about booking in and absolutely catered to what I needed. She set realistic expectations that they were able to exceed, and when I got to see the Vet (Maddy) she was also fantastic! Enough so that I’ll see her from now on due to her positive attitude and calm way with my anxious cat. Fantastic experience: My cat decided to eat some human medication after sneaking into our bedroom. Negative experience: Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Our Rabbit’s Sudden Death After Clinic Visit Dear Care Veterinary Hospital Team, We are writing to express our deep shock, sorrow, and concern following our visit to your clinic today with our rabbit. Earlier today, we brought our rabbit in for a check-up due to his recent loss of appetite and reduced food intake over the past few days. However, we had noticed that in the past two days, his condition had improved — he had begun eating again and appeared more energetic. We brought him to your clinic nonetheless, out of caution, to ensure that there were no underlying health issues. During the consultation, the veterinarian informed us that the blood test results showed no abnormalities. We were told there was no indication of bloating, and aside from being slightly underweight and having a mildly low body temperature, there were no other major concerns. The vet advised that his diet might need some adjustment. Despite this generally positive assessment, the vet still administered a dose of pain relief medication and informed us that our rabbit had already been given the drug. It is important to note that when we brought him in, our rabbit was alert, eating hay, and in visibly good spirits. The vet also confirmed during the examination that he was doing well and eating actively. We were reassured that there was no serious issue and that our rabbit was in good health. However, after we brought him home, his condition deteriorated rapidly. He became extremely lethargic and refused to eat anything. Within 30 minutes, he stopped breathing. He died suddenly and unexpectedly, shortly after the visit. This has been an unimaginably painful and distressing experience for us. It is utterly devastating that our rabbit — who was in good condition when we brought him to your clinic — died so soon after undergoing tests and receiving medication from your team. We are left not only grieving but also deeply confused and angry. We have serious concerns about the following: The necessity and justification for administering pain relief medication. The potential side effects of the drug given and whether it was suitable for rabbits. The overall professionalism and expertise shown during the examination. The clinic’s knowledge and authority in treating rabbits as a species. We kindly request a full explanation of what happened during the examination and treatment, including the name and dosage of the medication given. We also seek accountability for this tragic loss and expect an appropriate response regarding compensation. We trusted your clinic to care for our rabbit. Fantastic experience: In March, one of our rabbits began showing severe symptoms that appeared to be caused by E. cuniculi. We visited CARE VET that night, and as his symptoms worsened on the second night, we had to return. The daytime vet mentioned that euthanasia might be necessary. We truly thought we were going to lose our Oreo that night. However, we cannot thank the Sam Tillack at CARE VET enough. During our second visit, he explained that rabbits are often able to cope with the frightening symptoms that can come with the onset of head tilt. He also ensured Oreo received a generous amount of Critical Care food, which helped tremendously. Sam gave us hope and excellent advice, which allowed our family to provide round-the-clock care over the following days. It has now been seven weeks since those visits, and Oreo has recovered remarkably well. He now only has a slight head tilt, and his balance has been fully restored. We are incredibly grateful to the nurses and Sam Tillack at CARE VET for his compassionate care and guidance. Other notes: Our visits were around the 5th and 6th of March 2025 and on the 6th, he said in 24 hours we should see slight improvement and we did. The nurses airdropped the feeding of critical care to me which helped. Rabbit doctors later said that the horrible symptoms could have been caused by E. cuniculi but perhaps a higher chance that it could have been an inner ear infection. Based on the owner of Rabbit doctors comments together with a French VET stats , If treated correctly with good Vet and home care, 97% can survive . Standard recovery time is 2 to 6 weeks but there have been cases of head tilt for 2 days and up to 6 months to stop falling over. Please pass the message to Sam and Nurses. Andrew

Fantastic experience: I can’t speak highly enough of the care we received at Care. This clinic operates differently—animals are triaged on arrival by a nurse, ensuring urgent needs are identified straight away. What truly stood out was their thoroughness. After a previous vet misdiagnosed my dog’s condition as gastro (despite me mentioning wobbly legs and incontinence), the team here correctly diagnosed IVDD during a detailed exam. Their clinical insight likely made all the difference to my dog’s outcomes. Every decision was clearly explained, with full transparency around costs and consistent checks for consent. Dr Brenton went above and beyond, explaining CT results and treatment options with the kind of compassion and detail you’d expect for a human patient. My dog was surprisingly calm in their care, which speaks volumes. We were also given helpful education materials to better understand the condition and ongoing care needs. Fantastic experience: The team at CARE showed professionalism as well as compassion and empathy during our difficult time. Our 3 year old dog, Gus, was referred to CARE following a blood test that revealed very high levels of inflammation and white blood cells in his urine. He was experiencing joint pain, shifting lameness and a small lump had suddenly appeared near his shoulder. All the vets who treated Gus listened carefully to our feedback about his recent change in demeanour and behaviour and were very thorough in determining the cause of the issue, which was sadly an inoperable and untreatable osteosarcoma. The team at CARE provided a comprehensive handover to the vets at Advanced Vetcare - Kensington when we sought a second opinion from their specialist surgical and oncology team. Gus stayed at CARE for 5 days and the team provided regular communication and supported us through the difficult journey to this unexpected diagnosis. The Gap Only payment system removed the additional stress of a significant financial burden as we were able to claim immediately from Everyday Pet Insurance. We also appreciated the personal touch of the sympathy card we received in the mail this week to honour Gus's death. We were very grateful that we could bring Gus home for his final day and that he was able to pass away in his home, with the assistance of a home visit from a vet from Goodbye Good Boy, surrounded by his family and toys. The team at CARE did everything they could to care for our beloved boy in his time of need. RIP Gus, you have left a pawprint on our hearts.

Fantastic experience: We were referred there by MASH in Ringwood as specialist care was required for our dachsund . They were waiting for us and have taken excellent care of our very sick girl. They have saved her life.The communication is excellent and plenty of aftercare. They kept us informed about costs every step of the way and helped us with gap only payments. Every single person we have dealt with has been fabulous & caring. Negative experience: MONEY>CARE Unfortunately it seems this practice has gone extremely downhill based on other recent reviews… We received completely contradicting assessments between doctors within the span of 12 hours and it seems to be due to improper handovers and management of practice. We were literally told to not believe vet #1 and instead just trust the contradictory assessment of vet #2 and discharge our dog only for them to of course be presenting all the issues vet #1 warned us about. During the process, whenever we respectfully questioned the doctors on the contradictions between them, it seemed clear they were not aware of the details in any way of the initial assessment/consult from the vet before them. Despite coming and paying for expert advice, we were left more confused than ever. They also never called despite booking you in for follow ups. You need to chase them. The receptionist for the discharge was also very insensitive and dismissive. When asked about payment options she scoffed and said “cash or card”. I asked for further options as I was not the dog owner, nor paying, and was relaying information to them. She unjustly assumed this meant we were somehow trying to get out of payment, had us waiting for 20mins still without seeing our dog, just so she could get her leader to come talk to us about how “payment needs to be made”. Confused, I explained to them I’d been waiting to pay and was just asking about the options of payment. Luckily the leader was able to sort it out in a kind manner, however with the condescending treatment from the first receptionist and the overall actions of the practice proving more “care” and focus on payment than the actual job of taking care of our dog, ultimately the experience left us feeling very uncomfortable. Oh and cherry on top was them loosing our dog’s lead she’s had since a pup (9 years) with the receptionist just laughing it off.

Negative experience: The vet couldn’t provide a clear reason for my puppy's illness and didn’t run an accurate diagnostic to begin with. When I mentioned I couldn’t afford an overnight stay at the hospital, she simply asked if I could pay $1,000, $800, or at least $500, without considering the actual cause of my dog’s condition. It felt like she was more focused on getting the money than on figuring out what was wrong and providing the right treatment. The second day I came back to get help they had to put her down.In the end, I still don’t know what was wrong with my puppy, and it has been the worst experience my family and I have ever had.

Fantastic experience: We had an exceptional start-to-finish experience at CARE after coming in for an emergency appointment for our beloved 2 year old pup. When we first noticed our pup’s deteriorating condition 12am on a Saturday morning, I called and spoke with the receptionist who asked questions regarding the signs our pup was showing. After triaging his signs, she strongly suggested for us to bring him in. Dr Dave was the emergency veterinarian that night and he was caring, professional and informative. He explained in detail the possible reasons for our pup’s emergency condition and informed us of the diagnostic tests required and costs involved. His gentle nature and expertise gave us the reassurance we needed to be able to leave our pup overnight as we knew he was in good hands. Upon picking up our pup the next day after his condition had stabilised and CARE believed he was fit to return home, we received a detailed update in person from the hand-over veterinarian. As I was not able to attend his pick up, we also received a written report. The reception team were also very helpful afterwards with providing the records and report required for our pet insurance claim. We are extremely grateful for the team at CARE for all their hard work and for providing 24-hour care for our furry loved ones during emergency situations. Thank you.

Negative experience: I have never left a review before as I’ve never felt so much towards to business that Ive needed too. One star is too good for this place. This place is evil, please don’t take your baby here if you have an emergency. On Sunday i had noticed my sweet boy being quite lethargic, having problems peeing, not drinking or eating and having thrown up. We got him the next available vet appointment that was going to be on Tuesday and in the early hours of Tuesday around midnight he seemed in a lot of pain and was lethargic. I drove him here, when arriving they told me he needed a catheter surgery as he had a blocked bladder which would cost $3500 I explained that I only had $700 in my account and I would be more than willing to pay more when I get paid my when my partner was paid as well and I would put that down as a deposit. They agreed and said they would do a payment plan, took the $700 and said to go home and they’ll run some blood tests and call us to see if other things needed to be done. I signed the contract and anxiously left. While driving home they called and said that he had high Potassium levels in his blood and that the surgery would been $4500-5000 and also told me that they won’t be doing the payment plan which they agreed to in the first place and I can’t reiterate this enough TOOK THE MONEY FOR, and that I would need to come back they also told me that they called other Vets in the area that said they would be the same price and wouldn’t do payment plan options. We couldn’t take him anywhere else as they had taken every penny I had in my account and if they were to refund me it would take 3-5 business days to get into my account. They offered to empty his bladder and that I could take him to another vet in the morning which I couldn’t as they had every single cent I had. They backed us into a corner. They then offered Euthanasia to which I was firmly against, I called people at 2-3am, applied for VetPay, Afterpay, Payday loans to which were all up didn’t amount to the full cost. We had no other choice but to Euthanise our little guy. He was only 2. I am so angry, I lost my best friend, my partner and I’s baby. This place only cares about money, they have no duty of care over your beloved pets, my sweet boys life shouldn’t have come down to the fact my partner and I couldn’t pull $5000 out of nowhere and false promises. I have filed a report with Vetboard Victoria and hopefully they step in. Rest in peace my beautiful Pelle ️

Negative experience: I’m disgusted by the service at this place. At this point, it’s just a money grab, especially considering the negative reviews. I reached out for help regarding my dog’s post-surgery care, explaining that I hadn’t slept and was struggling to manage my dog’s recovery on my own. All I was asking for was a referral or any sort of information. Instead, I was met with an unprofessional response from the staff member who accused me of having an attitude simply because I expressed my concerns and frustration — which is valid. I explained that my feelings were valid, and all I was doing was asking for advice. She tried to make me feel guilty and told me it would be unfair for the other 22 patients. I clarified that I wasn’t asking for special treatment, just if there was anyone she could refer me to or any information she could provide. That’s when she literally told me I had an attitude and then hung up on me. The problem lies in how she dismissed my concerns. Dismissing someone’s valid feelings because they’re in a vulnerable state and trying to navigate a difficult situation is bad customer service. She failed to acknowledge the urgency of my request and the emotional strain I was under, which only made the situation worse. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, and I will be filing a formal complaint with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria. It’s not okay to treat clients this way, especially when they are genuinely in need of help. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, and that future pet owners are treated with more compassion and respect.

Negative experience: I can’t say I would recommend their services. Our dog was paralysed on Saturday, I took him in at 11pm at night. I was happy to leave him over night to get a CT scan ($4500) after leaving him there, the vet called back 30 minutes later and said they wouldn’t recommend a CT if I’m not going to go ahead with the surgery ($15,000 plus) and they recommend we put him down in a day or two. So I called a friend who is a vet for a second opinion. We did CT scan and found a small issue in his neck. After 3 days rest and some medicine, his bladder and bowl function returned and he is slowly recovering. It’s still early days for our dog, but I’d like to at least give him to opportunity to heal before euthanasia. Our dog also had surgery there in 2022 for a similar issue and we went ahead with the same surgery (which was $9,800 then). I now question whether he would have healed had we not went ahead with the surgery. If you love your pet and they give you a ‘pay up or death’ scenario, perhaps find a second opinion.............................. Update!- 3 weeks later our dog is walking again, up and down stairs and recovering very well, so glad we gave him a chance to heal and not listen to their advice.

Fantastic experience: I realised I never left a review for here. Unfortunately our dog had a sudden, and complex cancer which would ultimately be fatal. The level of care and compassion we received from Linda Abraham was amazing, I felt like every option was being exhausted and the staff were compassionate. Even though we live in the northern suburbs, and there’s closer emergency vets, we’ll always use and recommend CARE from now on.

Fantastic experience: We have been attending CARE Vet Hospital since 2020. They diagnosed & for our boy Frankie through our journey with brain cancer in back in 2020 - so we spent a lot of time there with the team. CARE is the only place we prefer to take our pups for emergency care. All of the staff are incredibly welcoming, friendly, compassionate, respectful, caring, informative and thorough - from reception to the actual hospital itself. Negative experience: UNBELIEVABLE POOR SERVICE & POOR COMMUNICATION Called yesterday afternoon to have my dog seen after he ruptured a cyst under his chin that created a hole the size of a 20c coin. The receptionist mentioned there was no waiting queue with two beds empty so we rushed in to get him looked at immediately. Upon arrival the hospital was empty and we were ushered into a room and were asked to wait. After half an hour of waiting, I asked again at front desk how long it would take only for the receptionist to say that she was unsure as other patients had arrived after us and were taken in whilst we waited...we left and treated him ourselves. Maybe the hole in his chin was not important enough to be seen and needed to be at near death to stir some action. 1 STAR IS TOO GOOD FOR THIS PLACE

Fantastic experience: Found myself and my (very constipated) cat at CARE late at night a few days before Christmas. My cat was briefly assessed by the nurse and triaged in the waiting room quite promptly, and we then saw the vet within half an hour or so. Staff were very attentive, listened to all of our concerns, and took the time to answer all of our questions. They gave us clear instructions on what to expect & what signs/symptoms would warrant a repeat appointment.

Fantastic experience: We had to book in for an emergency for our cat's infected leg. The staff were friendly and helpful. Fantastic experience: My dog was showing signs of having eaten something she shouldn’t have. I rang my Vet but he was just closing for the day and had no staff if an operation was required. He recommended CARE so I went. Staff were super helpful and caring, costs were explained. Bet I saw gave logical advice which I followed issue sorted itself out in a day or so but I was glad to be safe not sorry. Highly recommend CARE for 24 hour service

Negative experience: Had the most shocking & traumatic experience here ending up with my pet dead & being lied to, My partly owned stray cat that I’ve had for 8 months or more was pregnant this was her second litter for her to finally trust me, The first litter was fine however the second litter of kittens ended up being deceased & coming out of her as stillborns with blood splattering everywhere, No vets or anything would come help me saying it’s no big deal, So I decided to come to this 24 hour open vet care hospital since she was bleeding very heavily while being in distress, When I had finally arrived the people just took her from me with out a word while being cold & harsh the whole place felt cold & horrible, Unfriendly ,They told me they cannot give any details about her since I hadn’t fully owned her & because of how expensive it is I had to surrender her, However I was understanding about this & was happy to adopt her when she got better since I had finally caught her, I thought I was doing the right thing helping her by bringing her here, They also had taken my new expensive cat carrier I got especially for her & never gave it back, So a couple days later my mother had called back & complained & came back to pick up the cat carrier while asking about her & they flat out lied to her, Telling her that she had been taken to a shelter when she had actually passed away, My mother is heart broken, My mother has been in distress calling every shelter for her for the last couple of days to find out exactly where she had been taken, Only to be called back later to tell us that one of there staff had lied to us because she couldn’t bring herself to tell us the truth, That this whole time our cat was deceased, This has been very traumatic & heartbreaking for my family & all I know is that I will never come back here ever again. I will never be able to see my baby Elsa ever again.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing we walked in this fully expecting that our bunnie was not going to make it and walked out with him. Negative experience: My boy Blaze has Cushings disease which is controlled by medication. On a walk he had a seizure so I rushed him to CARE. After investigation we were told that his blood pressure was extremely high and had some pressure on his brain and there was nothing more they could do. We were told he had only days left. We were deeply distressed by this news for several days expecting the worst. It is now 8 days later and he is back to his normal self. His blood pressure is within normal range. Somehow the diagnoses from CARE was not correct. I will never go there again.

Negative experience: They almost killed my puppy‼️. I went yesterday with my 13 week old puppy because he was constantly sneezing with a green nasal discharge, he was low on energy, and had little appetite. I waited for 2 hours because it is not a first come, first served basis, but an emergency. They have to see that the dog is bleeding or something like that for it to be an emergency for them. Finally, when they see us, the vet says that he is fine, that the only thing is not to take him anywhere until his last vaccine. I am going home calmly since she practically said that he is out of danger. During the early hours of today, my dog ​​got worse, his sneezing was becoming more constant and his secretions were more and more. In the morning I called my regular vet to take him, when she examines him she tells me that if another day passes, my puppy would have died of a severe infection. CONCLUSION, WHAT A TERRIBLE SERVICE, playing with the lives of pets in that way. When it comes time to collect, they do it perfectly. I paid $210 for wasting my time and playing with my puppy's life

Positive experience: 27/10/14 UPDATE Although a little slow to respond, my concerns were addressed by the Business Manager. I am happy to have had my concerns acknowledged and some compensation given in recognition. Thank you. ************** I have tried to address our concerns privately by email to CARE with no response. So this is why I am now writing a public review. We feel quite taken advantage of in stressful and vulnerable situation and disappointed in the service we received. My husband and I had verbally voiced our concerns to - 1. the receptionist on our initial call and 2. the Vet - that our Greyhound might require specialist treatment for his injury. We were advised that he should come in at least for pain relief and then reassured by the treating Vet that Vets at CARE “are the best in Melbourne” so we went ahead with further treatment at CARE. When picking up our dog the bill was $600 more than what was estimated without a call to let us know- which meant scrambling around to change our account limit in reception to pay the bill. When we took our greyhound for a checkup as advised 3 days later to our greyhound vet it was advised the best solution for short and long term recovery was to partially amputate a badly fractured toe. Immediately this made a huge difference to our greyhound and has significantly shortened his recovery. We feel badly let down with the advise we received and around $2,000.00 that we spent unnecessarily. This has made life more difficult for our dog than it needed to be and for us financially. My advise is not to leave your dog at CARE - especially greyhounds - as they are NOT the best at treating this type of dog UNLESS perhaps it is an immediate life or death situation. Our greyhound would have been better off waiting another 30 mins or so for a vet with specialty in this field and been in less pain.

Negative experience: We got there in a rush due to the state of our bunny and they had us fill out forms and answer questions while they knew that out bunny was suffering. We drove 50 minutes to this vet for their urgent care and they did nothing but tell us he looks unwell yet that was quite obvious. Our bunny ended up dying on their table, in pain.

Negative experience: I took my cat there for emergency treat since he cannot go to loo, the whole team did not apply antibiotic even for precaution which all date showing recessions in kidney which leads to twice repetitively procedures in inputting the urine tube which cause eventually my boy has to go through surgery to transfer his peeing part into a female way. The surgery was actually very nice and listened to what has actually happened, however the leader Dr Guy denying the fact why the antibiotic was not applied and being nasty which I feel he only cares about revenue rather than animal’s health and life. If I could have a chance to transfer my boy in this critical moment I would have done it however I felt being took advantage in that particular vulnerable moment. What the principal really care about ? What’s goes around comes around, I do wish some good valued vets are there in charge with genie interest to help your fur babies where in particularly animal cannot talk and especially with medical related matter should be handled in better hands and hopefully no one else go thought the same thing and also Dr Guy won’t meet a quark in medical related matter to feel the pain as I have suffered emotional and my cat did!
