Animal Emergency Centre (AEC) - 24/7 Emergency & Specialist Vets - Mt Waverley: Reviews
Fantastic experience: We cannot say enough good things about AEC - Mt Waverley. Our mini dachshund Austin came down with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis and from the moment we got there until the moment we collected him everyone was supportive, kind, professional and helpful. Austin had to be hospitalised at AEC for nearly 2 full days and the team there kept in very close communication with us giving us updates each evening and morning. We can tell that Austin was well looked after there as he didn't even want to leave. Thank you to the vets looking after Austin: Sarah, Jane & Eujin and to the wonderful receptionist - Kate. Im sorry we didn’t get all the vet nurses names but they were all so bloody great! Thank you thank you , thank you again
Thanks Sam and Austin! This is amazing feedback to hear, we're glad that our amazing Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley are receiving such great recognition
Negative experience: If I could give a minus I would. Vet got liaring then got quite abrupt when caught most expensive vet bill when vet didn’t even look at dog.

Fantastic experience: Dr Alan, Aren and the whole team took such good care of my 3 year old cat on his overnight stay. Haven’t seen him so sick before but when he came out, he was full of energy and is now back to his normal lively self. Thank you so much, our whole family is so grateful to AEC for helping out our precious boy!
Thank you for your exciting whisker-twitching feedback Aly, I have now passed this onto the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley. It's always a treat to know their purr-sistent hard work is appreciated

Fantastic experience: Cared for my cat after a terrifying seizure, allayed my fears and were professional and caring.
Thank you for your kind review.
We’re so glad we could support you and your cat during such a frightening time. It means a lot to hear our team provided professional and caring assistance.
Negative experience: I brought my dog (currently undergoing chemotherapy) to AEC Mount Waverley at around 1am 11th Jan 2026 due to pain, internal swelling and difficulty passing stool. Dr Allen briefly palpated my dog but then advised that because my dog is managed by specialists at MSCV and had recent lab tests, AEC would not perform further assessment and that I should wait for my next appointment days later. I was told AEC could only provide pain relief. The recent tests were for lymphoma and did not assess the issue I presented with. I was also told “your dog won’t die” despite my dog appearing distressed. During the consultation, I asked to leave the closed room because I felt uncomfortable, but the door was not opened immediately. After I left the room, Dr Allen told me multiple times to leave the clinic and said that no one there would help me. I also heard him say “Jesus Christ” and observed eye-rolling during our interaction. I later requested to speak with another staff member to finalise my visit, but Dr Allen refused to get anyone else to help. I left feeling unsupported during an emergency visit. Based on this experience, I would not return here for emergency care. Updates on 14th Jan: Since my visit to AEC Mount Waverley, my dog has undergone CT imaging at another emergency hospital and was diagnosed with a tumour arising from the rectal wall. The mass was causing severe pain, bowel compression and nerve irritation — exactly the symptoms I presented with on the night I attended AEC. I want to clarify that my concern was never about expecting an immediate diagnosis. It was about being dismissed and told nothing could be done simply because previous tests elsewhere were “normal.” Those earlier samples were taken from superficial irritated tissue and did not rule out a deep muscle tumour, which CT later confirmed. This experience showed me how important it is for emergency clinicians to listen to owners and take deteriorating symptoms seriously, even when previous tests exist. I hope my dog’s case helps prevent others from being turned away when something serious is developing.

Negative experience: Reception staff member last night was rude and condescending. She seemed more interested in criticising me for not seeking care for my pet sooner, when if she’d listened to a thing I said instead of talking over me, she would know that we had been to another vet just a few hours earlier. She also out of the blue told me “I can’t tell you whether your dog will live or not” - what a cold thing to say to an anxious owner, completely unprompted. Safe to say we went elsewhere and got lovely care at South Paws, where they were professional and compassionate. I can see there are other reviews about the behaviour of reception staff here, clearly the business has made no changes to address it.

Fantastic experience: Looked after our girl Lucy with nurturing care, and professional advice that put our minds at ease very late one evening. Very lucky we have this service so close to home. This is not our first visit and cannot fault
Fantastic experience: Thank you to the emergency clinic team for acting quickly and caring for Rufus as the first point of contact. Professional, calm, and compassionate when it mattered most.
Fantastic experience: Percy has been a repeat visitor over the last 9 years because he loves to eat things he shouldn't, especially when it's a public holiday or out of hours. The staff are caring both for Percy and me and very knowledgeable. Percy recommends.
Thank you for paw-viding such marvellous feedback! The Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley will be filled with glee to know you had such a pet-ceptional experience Robert

Negative experience: Do not go there!! !!!!! I took my bulldog to AEC Mount Waverley as she was constipated for a few days , she was given a quick examination, options were go home and give her oral laxative which we will provide or she can stay on overnight and we will go from there . The cost will be $3000, the laxative was $60 for 15ml, I have since purchased the exact same liquid laxative for $12 a litre as recommended by my vet.. I had no intention of leaving my dog there and had decided it was a mistake as soon as I walked through the door…., I followed up at my vets where she was treated with great care and love and her well being was their intentions not the $$$$

Negative experience: Care was slow, long winded forms to fill in before necessary treatment started. Lack of skill and speed in performing a C section., costs over the top for performance.

Fantastic experience: Great After-Hours Care at AEC! Took my dog to AEC after hours and had an excellent experience. Reception was kind, the nurse was attentive, and the vet was caring and professional. They really supported us during a stressful moment. Highly recommend!
This absolutely fur-bulous feedback will surely give the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley the warm fuzzies. Thank you Omid, we will be sure to purr-sonally pass this on for you
Fantastic experience: I brought my cat, Pebbles to the AEC on 29/11/2025 for congestive heart failure. Dr Alan and Dr Sarah were both amazing and kept me informed and updated on her condition. She was really cared for by all the staff here as she was kept overnight for 2 days. Apparently, Pebbles was an absolute angel whilst at the hospital, even though she is a devil at home! I can't thank the staff enough for all their help as it is the second time she has been brought in.
Thank you for the pet-tacular feedback Carmen and Pebbles! We will be sure to pass this onto Dr Alan, Dr Sarah and the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley, I know they will be fur-ever grateful to hear this
Fantastic experience: The team are highly professional and provided excellent treatment to my dog that had been poisoned. I highly recommend their emergency care.
You have got to be kitten me Emily, this is un-paw-lievable feedback. We will be sure to pass this onto the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley, I know they will be so happy to hear this, thank you

You have got to be kitten me Reza, this is un-paw-lievable feedback. We will be sure to pass this onto the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley, I know they will be so happy to hear this, thank you
Fantastic experience: Thank you to the team at AEC for your kindness and compassion. You were incredibly empathetic and all helped to make a terrifying and heartbreaking situation more comfortable for both my cat Goofy and I. The vet even provided creamy treats (his favourite) for him to enjoy in his last moments. A general quote for the initial costs of emergency treatment was provided to me immediately upon arriving, and I appreciated the option on the form to choose or decline resuscitation for my pet. In the short time I spent here, the care was very patient centered and it showed that everyone wanted what was best for Goofy- even if it wasn't the outcome I'd hoped for
We appreciate your feedback India and are so sorry for your loss of Goofy, our hearts are with you. It's heartwarming to know you had a caring experience with the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley
Fantastic experience: We had an emergency on cup day and took our caboodle (Coco) to animal emergency centre at Mount waverley. We were worried about our pet’s health. All the staff were very empathetic. The nurse did a quick check before getting the vet (Dr Emma) engaged. Emma diagnosed Coco thoroughly and briefed us about what had happened. That put our mind at ease and we felt much better. She also said she was available for any queries following the treatment until 6 am the following day. We couldn’t have asked anything more from all the staff that helped us. A big “THANK YOU”. We truly appreciate the attention and care given to Coco.
Thank you for the re-bark-able feedback Arun and Coco! Dr Emma and the team at Animal Emergency Centre Mount Waverley will be paws-itively thrilled to know you are so happy
Positive experience: I am only just getting round to writing this now due to the working a long week. I came in last Saturday evening and was met with the rudest receptionist I have ever experienced, she was telling the nurse in front of everyone in the waiting room she was useless and unable to do her job. Good on the nurse for being professional and letting it not upset her in the waiting room. I am sure it did afterwards, however she did incredibly well to keep herself professional. The nurse who name I had forgotten but can see from below is Becks was nothing but professional, well spoken and explained everything clearly. I was deeply shocked once Becks had walked away that the receptionist told an owner to write a bad review about her. I am so glad that owner didn’t. This was disgusting, and I hope Becks is being given the support and encouragement she needs, and has complained about what is work place bullying. Becks you are a breath of fresh air. Don’t let people like that affect you. Stay true to yourself and thank you so much for all your help, and care on what looked like a chaotic night, but you wouldn’t think it due to Becks navigating the waiting room perfectly, and to an extremely high standard.
Thank you for your feedback Emma. We’ve reviewed our records and are unable to find any recent interaction matching your name or the details provided. Positive experience: I can see from below Becks has got the feedback she deserves, I also want to thank Jess. Jess is a fabulous vet and Becks is an incredible nurse. They are both compassionate, knowledgeable and caring. I was met with a rude receptionist (who needs a new uniform it is not flattering). She was above her head and at this stage I almost walked out. She needs to be addressed and spoken the way she spoke to Becks was not pleasant to witness, and I speak for many in the waiting room. I was then met with Becks who honestly cares. She took all my dog’s vitals and then took her out the back for some pain relief. It was a friend’s dog, so I was incredibly anxious. But Becks calmed me down and gave me the reassurance I needed. She is a credit to your team and I am so glad she works there if I need her in future with my own pets. Thank you Becks and Jess.

Fantastic experience: I brought my dog in on Saturday evening. It was extremely busy. I was met with a rude and obnoxious receptionist who went on to tell the nurse she was useless and couldn’t do her job. This shocked me. I cannot believe she spoke to her like that. I was then met with this triage nurse Becks who was just amazing although busy she was individually making sure everyone was ok and seeing to everyone needs. Becks was amazing she checked are dog out. Explained there was going to be a wait. My partner stayed and I went to hungry Jacks for food. Even offered Becks hungry Jacks. Becks was amazing and you are lucky to have and a nurse with you. The receptionist however needs to be fired to she was so rude, had no manners and needs a serious wake up call on customer service. Get rid of her. Thank you Becks for all your love. We really do appreciate it and you.

Fantastic experience: I recently brought my 2-month-old Mini Lops to the emergency vet upon noticing that one of them had stopped eating and drinking. Being a new bunny owner, I was worried that he had gone into stasis and wasn’t sure what to do. The triage nurse Becks was amazing. She was professional, calm, kind, compassionate, and reassuring. Despite it being busy, she took the time to explain everything clearly, answer my questions and check in with us throughout the night. Becks treated my bunnies with care and made sure that I felt comfortable and confident in administering the medication at home. My bunnies left healthy and happy, and have been well since. From Marco, Polo, and I, thank you, Becks!
Thanks Chloe, Marco and Polo! This is amazing feedback to hear, we're glad that Becks and our amazing Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley are receiving such great recognition
Fantastic experience: Reception Staff and Vet Staff were amazing and attentive, my dog is happy and healthy now. Would recommend!!
Thanks Madeline! Our Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley are head over paws with everything pets, so we are so glad to hear this feedback
Fantastic experience: I wanted to thank all the staff on duty on Monday night when I brought my 17 year old fur baby in. The care and compassion we were showed I’ll never forget. Thank you all-sorry I didn’t get names as I was so distressed because she needed to be put to sleep-this was done calmly and with much concern for both Molly and myself. With much gratitude.
We appreciate your feedback Maria and we are so sorry for your loss of Molly. It's heartwarming to know you had a caring experience with the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley
Negative experience: I’ve taken four animals here including two birds. One we had to put down after spending $7000 and the birds I took there have both had to be put down. Overpriced and you get nothing but a little pain relief.
We value your feedback Toby and aim to address it directly to gain a deeper understanding of the situation. So, we are able to get more details surrounding your case can you please contact our dedicated team on – [email protected] 1300 232 838.
Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend the hospital very professional and courteous in every way taking care of my CAVOODLE LUCKY they assisted well and above my expectation so thank you so much to all the staff who looked after him and gave my wife and I peace of mind that he was in the best care possible
Its just Paw-fect you had such a wonderful experience with the Staff at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley! We can't thank you enough for the lovely feedback Alan and Lucky
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much to the team here at AEC, especially Dr Kitty who took great care of our cat, Mars. She was very caring and empathetic. We are very appreciative!
We’re so glad Mars was cared for with such empathy—thank you for sharing your kind words, Ashley.
Fantastic experience: Dr. kitty - you tonight have not only have helped me through the most devastating news but also have gone above and beyond to ensure I was at peace with my puppy Dexter - even when he wasn’t in your care. You have not only showed pure passion, but the care and empathy you had on that phone call was like no other, without you and your team today my baby boy wouldn’t be in a stable condition, from my boy Dexter and I, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ♥️
We’re so deeply moved by your words, Jesse. ❤️ We’re grateful our team could support you and Dexter with compassion and care during such a difficult time.
Negative experience: Waited about an hour mid-week afternoon with a very stressed dog, shaking violently and panting hard. There were NO OTHER people nor animals in the waiting room from the time we arrived, until we left. Do not recommend, and have found another excellent 24 hour vet hospital not connected at all with this franchise/brand.
Your concerns are important to us, and we are committed to resolving them promptly. Please don't hesitate to contact our dedicated team at [email protected] or call 1300 232 838 to provide more details about your experience. Negative experience: This is a place of absolute last resort. Unprofessional. Unempathetic. Condiseding and Lacking basic emotional intelligence. They DO NOT CARE. I've taken my pets to many different vets over the past 40 years with no issues. This place was awful. Rude staff who seemed to take pleasure in pain. Avoid it if you can.
We value your feedback Corey and aim to address it directly to gain a deeper understanding of the situation. So, we are able to get more details surrounding your case can you please contact our dedicated team on – [email protected] 1300 232 838.
Fantastic experience: I Had a sick cat Rocco so I called the AEC Vet Care very early in the morning and spoke with Steph and she was very helpful and carring on the phone so I brought my cat in and staff immediately took my Cat and began to diagnose his problems. Kate the Vet looked after him and I really appreciate everything Kate and the team did for me and my Cat, Kate was very clear and warming to me with what was wrong with my Cat. I have been to this Vet Care centre before and I will definitely come back in the future. All of the staff are amazing.
Thank you for trusting us with Rocco’s care during a difficult time. We’re glad Steph, Kate, and the team could provide clear, compassionate support. We’ll be here whenever you need us next.
Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with AEC when our cat hurt his leg. The staff were empathetic, quickly responded and gave us the support we needed.
Thank you, Patricia, for your kind words. We're touched to hear about your pawsitive experience with the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley.
Fantastic experience: The staff at AEC Mt Waverley took really good care of my dog. He was very sick and in distress. And because I didn't want to be separated from him, the nurse triaged him in the waiting area (also there weren't many people - 10pm on a Wednesday). The vet took her time to explain what was possibly going on, what might be needed etc. She was very caring and empathetic. They - from reception to nurse and vet - were all really great. Couldn't recommend more highly.
Thank you, Vasugi. We’re so sorry your dog was unwell but glad our Mt Waverley team could provide compassionate, thoughtful care and keep you close. Your kind words mean a lot to us—always here for you both.
Fantastic experience: I brought my dog Nala here last night after she was showing signs of pain. The nurse at reception was so reassuring when I rang ahead, very patient while I spoke through tears. Both the triage nurse and Dr Alix were so attentive and gentle with my incredibly stressed girl. What could have been a very scary experience for me was as calm as it could possibly be, thanks to the staff.
We appreciate your paw-nomenal feedback Jia-Yi and Nala. This will be sure to bring joy to Dr Alix and the team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley, thank you for sharing
Fantastic experience: My greedy Labrador has been here twice in eight months after eating way too much chocolate. Both times she was treated quickly and I had great confidence she would be fine. The staff are caring and very kind, and I saw this being extended also to some poor guy whose dog didn't make it. It's expensive but you expect that, and it was a public holiday one of those times! Hopefully we won't need to go again, but we'll go here rather than anywhere else.
Thank you, Rebecca. We’re glad we could be there for your Labrador during those scary moments—our team at AEC Mt Waverley is always here when you need us. Wishing you fewer chocolate incidents ahead!
Negative experience: Absolute waste of hours in an emergency. Very poor communication. Don't ever bring cats here, they don't care about them at all. My usual vet called them to say we were rushing in for an endoscope after my cat ate a ribbon. They left us waiting for hours knowing that the longer time went on the less likely the ribbon would remain in the stomach making the endoscope futile. In the hours we were waiting, they rushed multiple dogs in- including one who had eaten a ribbon. I was informed that that case was an emergency when I questioned why they had gone straight in for the SAME THING while we were left waiting. They just don't care about cats.
Fantastic experience: Thanks for reception Bree and Dr Alan who saved my Babe. They give emergency treatment without any delay and my babe is feel much better after visit vet. Charge is reasonable any no over treatment. Highly recommended. Crystal
Thanks Crystal! Our Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley will be super pleased with this feedback, thank you for sending this through!
Negative experience: This is the most disgusting place I have ever experienced I'm my life. My cat was run over at 5am on a Sunday. I rushed him there, they would not treat him unless I paid them 1500 on the spot. He then was there for 5 hours , they said they were running tests too find out what the injuries were. How does a vet not know after 5 hours what is wrong with him ? They said he has fractured his hip and he had to stay in over night. They said cost another 1000 to stay there overnight. They then rang me 2 hours later saying had ruptured his bladder, so another 1000 to put a tube in his urine. They proceeded over the night til morning to say he was stable. Preformed no surgery or treatment on him. Charged us 4000 dollars after 24 hours . We had to go pick him up and take him to the hospital in the city for surgery. He was so sleepy and still in the car when we transported him 3000 before they would start the surgery. At lots in south Melbourne 3 hours later they rang and said his kidney had burst and they couldn't save him How did they not know this. When he first came in, they held him for 30 hours for 7000 dollars and never even fixed a hole. A cut or anything . Absolutely heartless , cruel humans.

Negative experience: Took our pet bird in after an accident that left his leg injured. Basically told us they "don't know much about birds specifically, there's not much we can do but we can euthanize him in case you don't want to prolong his suffering, depending on whether or not u want to spend thousands to keep him alive." This specific statement wasn't even what ticked me off, although such kind of advice felt quite rude and apathetic. He is our pet and we value his wellbeing, ofc we will be willing to make sure he is OK and lives a long and happy life with us. But the fact that after what was essentially a 20 minute conversation where we were told they could do nothing, we were then charged 400$ for the occasion too. I understand that kind of expense if they took any measures to treat him, but all they basically did was administer a syringe of painkillers. No treatment was made of his leg. I am writing this while in a poor emotional state, so maybe what I am writing isn't in the most sound of mind, but I feel this place is more of a business that's preys on the distress and suffering of pet owners and I'm not sure if I can come back with my pet birds in a time of emergency (hopefully, I'll never have to anyway). (Update) Took him to an avian vet moment we could (had some unfortunate timing due to the long holiday) and they reported it as a clean fracture. This vet caused us unwarranted distress and provided very little in actual care, and made us fear for the end of the life of our bird without having any actual knowledge to his injury. Insane that they suggested euthanasia on such little information
We appreciate your feedback and would like to address it directly to better understand the situation. To facilitate an investigation to your feedback, could you kindly reach out to our dedicated support team at [email protected] or contact us at 1300 836 036. Fantastic experience: AEC Staff in Blackburn, Are the best ! Staff and the Doctors are very helpful and attentive to the pets that are brought in, they do care for them , with love for animals, unlike some Vets that don't really show care , through my experiences with them. This team at Blackburn are tops. Caring to the animals, and their owners. Thank you for the care and support you have given to me and my pet. Keep up the good work God bless you all.
Thanks Judith! This is amazing feedback to hear, we're glad that our amazing Team at Animal Emergency Centre, My Waverley are receiving such great recognition
Fantastic experience: HUGE THANK YOU, I cant speak more highly of the team at AEC. This is Oscar's second late night visit and each time I have always been impressed with the friendly, caring team. I have been there with previous pets over the years and each time I have experienced the same friendly and helpful team, nothing is too much for them. I cant recommend them enough, so again THANK YOU
Thank you for your exciting whisker-twitching feedback D and Oscar, I have now passed this onto the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverly. It's always a treat to know their purr-sistent hard work is appreciated
Fantastic experience: Like with us going to the ER, the nurses and vets don't see us on our best day, so I simply have to call out both the nurse and vet that attended our pet emergency. They were calm and empathetic, giving us time to consider our different options and the costs associated with it, without any pressure or judgement. Our pup responded well and is recovering, thanks to their professionalism. Thank you!
Thank you for your exciting whisker-twitching feedback RM, I have now passed this onto the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley. It's always a treat to know their purr-sistent hard work is appreciated
Fantastic experience: We never expected this to happen on a Sunday morning, but it did. Our dog Jake wasn’t looking his best, so we made the difficult decision to take him to the vet. We ended up at the AEC in Mount Waverley, and they were absolutely amazing. Susan, the vet, was incredibly caring and compassionate, helping us through one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make. The time and effort all the staff gave us was incredible—from providing a private room where our family could gather and say our goodbyes to Susan’s gentle and heartfelt explanation of what was to come. In such an emotional and heartbreaking moment, the grace, kindness, and comforting reassurance from the staff truly meant the world to us. Their compassion turned an incredibly painful experience into one filled with love and dignity. We are forever grateful. A week later, we received a condolence card in the mail—completely unexpected, yet deeply comforting. Then, a week later, we received a beautifully presented card with our dear Jake’s footprint on it—a touching and heartfelt gesture that meant so much to us from Edenhills. We wholeheartedly recommend AEC Mount Waverley to anyone in need of compassionate and professional vet care for their pet.
We appreciate your feedback Sam and we are so sorry for your loss of Jake. It's heartwarming to know you had a caring experience with Susan and the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley.
Fantastic experience: Don’t hesitate - if your pet needs emergency care, these people are brilliant. My dog and I were attacked by an aggressive dog being walked off lead with owners having no control - traumatic experience and savage injuries that are healing well thanks to the AEC team’s thorough and empathetic actions. Jess the vet was amazing. It’s expensive, but worth every cent to have this high calibre emergency service available. Have friends who also use AEC Mt Waverley and equally impressed.
We appreciate your paw-nomenal feedback Kate. This will be sure to bring joy to the team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley, thank you for sharing
Fantastic experience: I must praise the staff at AEC Mt Waverley for their very compassionate and kind service when I had to take my elderly dog in on a Sunday evening. Despite the time of day they took care of our beloved old girl who had gone downhill rapidly that day. Given my dog's advanced age and condition the outcome was tough but not unexpected, but the staff at AEC were very kind and thoughtful and although a challenging time they helped us through really professionally. The team at AEC really do care about animals and your pets will in good hands. Thank you.
Thank you for your paw-geous feedback Richard. We will be sure to paw-vide this to the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley, they will be so pleased to hear
Negative experience: Prices here are high compared to other places- Called to get a quote for an emergency consult and an X-ray without sedation for our dog who ate an earring and was quoted $240 for consult and $420 for an X-ray without sedation. Ended up going to CARE vet in Collingwood who charge $210 for consult and $115 for X-ray without sedation.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant the vet was I believe he performed a miracle that night now Boston can see
Thank you for paw-viding such marvellous feedback! The Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley will be filled with glee to know you have such a pet-ceptional experience Roxy and Boston
Fantastic experience: This vital service is WELL worth the cost! They recently saved the life of a highly loved toy cavoodle and interacted with myself and our pet with care, compassion and excellence at all times. A special mention to Vet Kathleen- she was absolutely PHENOMENAL! Explained things brilliantly! Didn’t give false hope while our pet was in a critical condition, but explained all the options, approximate costs, as well as pros and cons of each diagnostic treatment option. She was AMAZING! Highly recommend her skills, as well as her ability to communicate clearly and in an easy to understand way during highly emotive times.
Thank you for paw-viding such marvellous feedback! Dr Kathleen and The Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley will be filled with glee to know you have such a pet-ceptional experience Jody
Fantastic experience: If you have a pet that needs emergency care, especially when it is out of hours for your usual vet, Animal Emergency Centre at Mt. Waverley is a wonderful place to go. They were very caring and very professional. Their immediate assistance was most appreciated. After our dog was examined, the vet at the Centre sent a full note to his veterinarian with a copy to me. That is a wonderful service.
This couldn't be more purrrfect B, thank you so much for your lovely feedback! I just know the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley will be Feline great after they hear you were so happy
Positive experience: I recently took my 5-year-old British Bulldog to this emergency animal hospital due to dehydration and vomiting. While the 2.5-hour wait was quite long, I was really impressed with the professionalism and care shown by the team once we were seen. They were attentive, compassionate, and took great care of Genki throughout the entire process. The staff kept me updated on his condition and made sure he was comfortable. Overall, despite the wait, I’m very grateful for the excellent care given.
Thank you for the pet-tacular feedback Sheila and Genki! We will be sure to pass this onto the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley, I know they will be fur-ever grateful to hear this
Fantastic experience: A couple of weeks ago my dog B hurt his leg/paw walking up our basement stairs so I took him to AEC Glen Waverley where they were able to see him quickly. The vet techs were super friendly and the vet was really knowledgeable and made sure I had all the information needed to made an informed decision for B’s treatment. B loves the vet due to wonderful work by his primary vet since he was a puppy and both times I’ve had to take him to AEC have reinforced his enthusiasm for the vet
This absolutely fur-bulous feedback will surely give the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley the warm fuzzies. Thank you Harriet and B, we will be sure to purr-sonally pass this on for you
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much for the kindness and compassion all the staff showed this morning with the last hour of my dog's life. From the moment I walked in the door the staff were fantastic. I cannot recommend this practice more highly.
We appreciate your feedback Mick and we are so sorry for you loss. It's heartwarming to know you had a caring experience with the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley.
Negative experience: Effective admission service. Support staff provided (in my opinion) incompetent advice. Vet was excellent. Cost for diagnosis of injury was higher than the cost at another hospital for diagnosis and remediation + after care services. Quote to fix diagnosed issue was more than 3 times the cost of the entire service at the other hospital.
We value your feedback and would like to address it directly to better understand the situation. To provide more details about your case, please contact our dedicated team at [email protected] or 1300 836 036.
Fantastic experience: The team were amazing with taking care of our little girl Angel! Very attentive and compassionate to her needs! Cannot thank them enough! Would definitely recommend this to everyone! Xxxx
Negative experience: Title: Heartbreaking Experience - Unacceptable Treatment of Our Beloved Cat My family and I are deeply saddened and angered by the treatment our cat received at the ANIMAL EMERGENCY CENTRE - Mt Waverley. We brought him in at 9 PM, clearly in pain and needing urgent care. Despite the severity of his condition, the on-duty veterinarian refused to examine him until the next morning. Our poor cat was left in his carrier, suffering for over 10 hours without any medical attention or comfort. To make matters worse, we were charged for "admission" despite no care being provided until the following day. It is absolutely unacceptable that an emergency animal hospital would neglect an animal in need and treat its patients with such blatant disregard. We are utterly devastated by this experience and demand better care and compassion for our beloved pets. We strongly encourage pet owners to seek alternative options for emergency care, as we cannot recommend this facility based on our traumatic experience. Our pets deserve better than this.
We appreciate your feedback and would like to address it directly to better understand the situation. So, we can address your concerns in detail can you please contact our dedicated team on [email protected] or 1300 232 838. In the mean time will be passing this feedback on, and it will be reviewed by the leadership team.
Fantastic experience: I needed to contact this service on Saturday night. I spoke to Abby. She could not have been more helpful. My lab/retriever has been castrated the day before and I had some concerns. She allowed me to send through pics which put my mind at rest. I did call a closer 24 hour service but they were very dismissive. I am very grateful for this service and the staff. .
Fantastic experience: Outstanding customer service. My puppy was cared for when she was very ill and I was completely across everything that was happening, including costs. The staff are so kind and caring. I couldn't have asked for me. Thankfully my puppy came home well. Thank you so much.
Negative experience: Bad services, low quality. I initially send a female stray cat that has delivered 4 kittens to this emergency centre, the staff members refused to let me see the kittens as I have the intention to adopt them and the mother. They later promised me that they will send me the photos of the kittens, I waited until morning and did not receive any photos from them. I made the phone call and was told that they are not going to send me the photo. Very unfortunately, the mother cat escaped from the facility. Now they have send the kittens to the carer which is now out of my hands to adopt the kittens. Very unprofessional

Fantastic experience: Emma the vet was so incredible dealing with me and my very anxious pup, Ellie. Emma and the team made me feel reassured and like I was leaving my dog in safe hands. They were more than happy for me to call any hour of the night for updates which made such a difference during a really tough time.
This absolutely fur-bulous feedback will surely give Emma and the Team at Animal Emergency Centre Mt Waverley the warm fuzzies. Thank you Gemma and Ellie, we will be sure to purr-sonally pass this on for you
Fantastic experience: Just took our Groodle to them as he was feeling a bit discomfort in his mouth and kept pawing his mouth. Vet was very good and she was able to check very quickly there was a stick stuck inside the mouth. She took the stick out and our boy is back to normal. Very happy with the service.
Thanks Sonny! Our Team at Anima; Emergency Center Mt Waverley are head over paws with everything pets, so we are so glad to hear this feedback and that your boy is back to himself
Negative experience: We brought my dog in early in the morning due to him having a seizure for the first time. They took him out the back and we were told that it should take about 30 minutes for him to be looked at and have some tests done. After 1.5 hours no one had come out at any point so we had no idea what was going on. Someone finally came out to do something else and so I asked if I could get an update. I have no problem with things taking longer than expected but keeping people informed is the bare minimum, especially as I worried that it taking extra time may be due to him having another seizure. After 2.5 hours we see a vet who says that he has just been sleeping out the back and gives us a quote of over $2k to get a blood test as for some reason that requires him to be admitted to their hospital. Instead we went to our normal vet and got bloods done for $250. I know they don't have to do this but while he was out the back for 2.5 hours they hadn't even used a wet towel or something to wash him down a bit because during the seizure he urinated himself and frothed at the mouth. You could see where some of the froth had dried around his mouth.
Your concerns are important to us, and we are committed to resolving them promptly. Please don't hesitate to contact our dedicated team at [email protected] or call 1300 232 838 to provide more details about your experience. Rest assured that your feedback will be thoroughly investigated by our leadership team to understand the situation better. We value your input and are dedicated to continuously improving our services based on the insights we receive from our customers.
Negative experience: Took my dog to this centre as she was gagging with no other problems after midnight... not sure why and how Sarah who is supposed to be a vet is allowed to practice with that rude unprofessional unpleasant nature which stressed out my dog..there is a reason why they say trust the dog !!! centre even suggested I should consult a web vet ..so why does this centre even exist!!! So after almost an hour of no useful unhelpful options to assess the condition.. left the centre in frustration.
Fantastic experience: The team at AEC were so incredibly kind and compassionate. I brought my 18 year old cat in and everyone from the receptionists to the nurses and vets were not only friendly but also understanding that we didn't want to leave him alone. Our wait time was half of what they anticipated, and even though they warned me that being an emergency vet made their prices higher I was still surprised how cheap the appointment was. While I don't hope to be back there soon, I know I'd be in good hands if I had to. Thank you AEC for taking care of my baby like he was your own.
Fantastic experience: Incredibly warm and compassionate team of receptionists, nurses and vets. Super appreciative of all they have done for our pets over the years. Special thank you to the reception team for being so patient and approachable during difficult times.
Fantastic experience: Brought my 8mth old cat in after finding it frothing at the mouth and rapidly breathing. She was triaged immediately to be checked within 20mins was informed they would like to do an ultrasound, happily obliged. After a thorough examination we were informed of our choices and cost. I believed after a steroid she would be much better and would take her home and for a check up with the Vet the next day. Very professional and understanding. Also recommend Pet Insurance as what would’ve been a costly visit ended up like a trip to the doctor for a human for cost.
Fantastic experience: Been here a couple times because my dog likes to eat things that he shouldn’t. Each time the team have been quick to respond, and incredibly kind and caring. We were very lucky they were there to help us.
Negative experience: Absolute rought this place is - ripping people off when they know they’d do anything to save their pets because they can !! Staff don’t know what they’re talking about and play around with money figures. Wanting money up front for thousands of dollars & declining payment plans when they do have plenty of options. With the excuse staff are “new and didn’t know it was an option” simply not good enough. Take your pets needs elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: My cat accidentally ate a piece of string. I sent my cat there. The front desk was very nice and told me they would find a way to relieve my anxiety. After filling out the form, I waited for a while and the doctor came out. They told me the basic cost and the treatment methods they would take. They explained it very clearly, and I agreed. After waiting for a while, they told me that the cat had successfully spit out the string, and then I could take the cat home after a while. The front desk was also very nice and helped me reimburse the insurance directly. I only had to pay the gap. The whole medical treatment process was very comfortable, the doctors and nurses were very professional, highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been to this clinic twice. Each time I visited the clinic, the Vet and vet nurses were exceptional. I would like to give a special thanks to Dr Helena and nurse Ella for helping Harper at 3 am, your kindness and compassion to both me and my dog are much appreciated. ❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic experience: VRH and the nursing and neurological teams helped our beloved golden retriever Leo (and us, his pet parents) stabilise after the trauma of cluster seizures, diagnosis of an advanced brain tumour and subsequent palliative treatment. Dr Kylie was sensitive and amazing in helping us understand the test results, and consider our options for Leo. The nursing team were really helpful and responsive with all of our questions and requests during this time. Thank you - we can now enjoy being with Leo pain free during his remaining time with us.
Fantastic experience: We found a lost dog and we were received by the incredible Piper who know exactly what to do. She helped us to get the scared dog from the car and immediately checked for a chip. 15 minutes after Piper texted us telling us that Ella (the dog) was reunited wither parents! Amazing service to the community ❤️ thanks Piper
Fantastic experience: Amazing care and support for our beagle girl Alex who is anaphylactic to bees. In her 10 visits to AEC over the last 3 years they have cared for her wonderfully. We are very grateful.
Fantastic experience: I brought my dog here because there was a piece of bone accidentally stuck at her upper teeth. I called the clinic immediately and the staffs have been extremely helpful, they provide me advice on how to prevent further damage. It was a very pleasant experience at AEC and we really appreciate the help and care provided by the team. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic experience: Thanks Dr Ramona Roy for your help and support today. Very much appreciated!!! You saved my dog’s life - he was not able to pee at all. We need more vets like you in AU. Again, we are so thankful to you.
Negative experience: Our experience with the emergency vet is terrible, unprofessional, money-driven and carless. This is our worst experience with a vet. Few days ago, our adopted cat had coughs sounds like having staff stuck at the back of his throat which may be dangerous for breathing. Before we went in, we rang the vet consulting the visit and we were told by a nurse that if we come the cat can be treated in an hour. At first, everything was fluent. The cat was quickly brought to the back and we were told that the nurse will SOON have a check on the cat first before the doctor’s examination. However, the cat wasn’t being checked until an hour after they brought him in and we were left in the consultation room anxiously without any information. After the nurse checked the cat, the nurse told us that the doctor will soon visit us to tell us the cat’s condition, as the nurse had no idea what was going on. Then we were left for another 3 HOURS uninformed in the consultation room waiting for the doctor’s time. Not until the fourth hour we were there, the doctor could finally bear us a moment to talk to and tell us her few hypothesis of what’s going on with the cat, and the cat’s health condition was stable but offering us a series of checking including X-ray, blood test, invasive investigation accompanied with anaesthesia … Since the cat was just adopted for 4 days and was on medication of treating anxiety, we were very cautious on the cat’s mental stages and very eager to bring the cat home after those troubles. And for this time, we were left for another half an hour just waiting to talk to someone again for taking the cat home. We are very furious for the unprofessional and carelessness of this vet. If there is a real emergency, after all these waiting, the pet would be dead already. And have no one left to communicate with the doctor at the back, and being left uninformed for a long time is very concerning. Even in the end, when we suggested the nurse to have a ring bell in the front to avoid similar terrible circumstances happening on other patients, she was unpleasant and disregarding what was happening. We arrived this vet at 9 o’clock and left around 1:30 midnight. What we were mostly angry about is not the long waiting time, but the cat was left along untreated, anxious and scared at the back of the vet for a long-time. In the end, we paid 265 dollars for hours of wait, five minutes talking to the doctors, vital sign checked for the cats, and left untreated. We were heartbroken that the cat had to go through all theses troubles merely because we decided to trust the vet. From my experience, I strongly recommend everyone to not going to this vet unless there is no other choices.
Negative experience: if i could give 0 stars i would, i took my male cat in with extreme pain, unable to pass urine ect. we waited for hours (as expected) until they told me that they gave him some pain meds but there was nothing else they could do for him and charged me $500. he continued to be in pain so i went to get a second opinion from a different vet and his FLUTD was so severe i ended up having to put him down.
Fantastic experience: Nobody wants to need an emergency vet. When our turn came, AEC were so kind.
The kindest part was the hand written note entitled “home euthanasia options for
Fantastic experience: The Veterinary team at Mount Waverley AEC give care that is unmatchable! Thank you to the wonderful team who preformed life saving emergency surgery on our beloved cat Mider at 5am in the morning. Thankyou for your continued care afterwards helping ease our worry’s and being there for us through this stressful time! Thanks to the team at Mount Waverly our daughter will get to grow up with her best friend Mider!
Fantastic experience: Thank you for making my dear little boy Arthur feel better after his accident. AEC were so kind, compassionate and caring towards both of us during our visit. Arthur is feeling much better and well on the way to recovery. Hopefully we won’t be back but will definitely visit again if we need to
Fantastic experience: On August 26th last year our beautiful little baby girl Jill (Jilly Bean) ate Rhododendron and as first time goat owners, we had no idea how toxic this plant was for goats! The saying “goats can eat everything” is 100% NOT TRUE!!! Being a weekend, so many of the vets were closed in our area including Jack (Jill’s brother) and Jill’s main vet. That’s when one of the on call emergency vets suggested AEC in Mt Waverley and I’m so greatly thankful of this team! When we first called they told us goats are unusual to them, but please bring her in and my goodness did they make it work! Jilly’s main vet, Dr. Eleanor just so happened to know one of the vets at our main vet and worked with her to bring Jill back to health! They made an extremely scary situation a little easy to deal with as they offered love, care to both Mum and I and treated Jilly as one of their own ❤️ Since our visit Jilly and her brother are almost fully grown and loving life in their nice fresh green paddock, they hoon around and kick up their heals everyday and it’s so much fun to watch, and those are the moments I’m grateful to AEC because without them she wouldn’t be here to do that. We would love to come back and visit the team but being an emergency vet it makes it hard to have a good visit. So to all the beautiful, wonderful vets at AEC who helped lil Jill Bean back to help, please enjoy some pics and vids of your favourite little goaty girl and hopefully you’ll get to see her in person one day ❤️ Ps sorry it took so long for this review!
Fantastic experience: Our family dog, Tiger, was poorly and we brought her here around midnight. She was immediately seen and brought in by the nurses and vets. Within an hour, Dr Fabiana saw Tiger and provided us with helpful and considerate medical advice. We are very grateful for her compassion and kindness during a stressful time.
Fantastic experience: Thank you for looking at my baby girl Nala . Nala is a 12 weeks old kitten who is a little cheeky . She was running around everywhere and managed to get into my bathroom and before I could get to her she pulled the towel from the wooden towel rack and the rack fell on her . She ran back to my room but had drops of blood wherever she walked . I panicked and quickly brought her to AEC . They really calmed me down and look at her thoroughly and told me she had a small cut on her tail and that’s why she was bleeding and they cleaned that up .
Fantastic experience: Came in tonight with our puppy as we believed he had a paralysis tick on him. They saw him straight away and thank god it wasn’t. The vet who looked after him was very kind and understanding about our concerns. All the staff we talked with tonight were very kind and caring. I highly recommend
Negative experience: We took our dog here after he’d eaten chocolate covered macadamia nuts - he was clearly unwell. The nurse was helpful and said they’d make him vomit etc. they never mentioned any cost for this. We waited 4 hours to be seen by the vet and when the bill came - they charged us to make him vomit and to stop him vomiting. At no point was I told we would be charged for this! As a business, you can’t charge for something if the costs are not made clear from the beginning. The staff overall were helpful but I won’t be returning.
Fantastic experience: We took our our little boy here after a allergic reaction, and the staff were amazing! Everyone from the reception, to the nurse, to the vet were phenomenal- they kept us up to date, and were all really kind and compassionate.
Fantastic experience: The AEC staff are so kind and helpful. Dr Shu was amazing at explaining the details of our cats medical condition and answering all our questions. He kept us regularly updated while our cat was unwell and underwent surgery. The AEC staff were happy to take phone calls post discharge to discuss any queries or concerns. I was very impressed with the level of care and support provided, as I appreciate it is not an easy job to do. I highly recommend AEC for emergency or out of hours per care. Thank you to the AEC team.
Fantastic experience: We've visited the Animal Emergency Centre at Mt Waverley numerous times over the past 9 or 10 years. It's very reassuring to know that, at any time of the day or night, there are highly skilled, dedicated, caring professionals available to attend to after-hours veterinary emergencies. Our animals have always received excellent emergency care from the AEC staff, and we've found the team to be friendly, caring, and efficient. Treatment options are discussed, with pricing estimates provided. We're very glad to have this facility available to us and I highly recommend it.
Negative experience: I brought in a small possum which I found in my driveway. It was wet, cold and unwell. I understand the possum isn’t the most loved creature, but they deserve the same love and protection as any other animal. According to my research, possums have remarkable healing abilities and this showed, as after keeping it warm for some time it began to move around and its breathing became stronger. Further evidence suggests that a possum can live and heal from a broken arm. However when we gave the possum to the vet, we were told that the possum had a broken arm and therefore would need to be put to sleep. No further reasoning, just that there was ‘nothing they could do’. I wholeheartedly believe that this was purely due to the fact that this poor animal was a possum and not at all a result of the injury at hand. I can almost certainly guarantee that had it been a cat or dog they would have told us something different. Very disappointing. If I could give 0 stars I would.
Negative experience: Strongly advise to stay clear of this unethical and profit focused centre. No stars would be more appropriate than the one. When an elderly dog presents as acutely unwell and in respiratory distress having been previously diagnosed and receiving treatment for cardiac failure, why would an AEC vet predict she would probably be ready for discharge in less than 12 hours? Why would the cost of intravenous fluids be in excess of $700 when fluids compound cardiac failure? Contrary to the vet's prediction that the poor dog would be ready for discharge later in the day, she further deteriorated, was suffering and needed to be euthanised approximately 12 hours after the vet said she would likely be discharged. Either the admitting vet is seriously incompetent or he was focused on financial gain (in excess of $4,000) at the shocking cost to the vulnerable patient (and their distressed human). The little dog's suffering was prolonged by the application of futile interventions and the potentially dangerous treatment given that the > $700 cost of intravenous fluids implied a considerable quantity was administered. Why would Frusemide be administered concurrent to over $700 of IV fluids in the presence of cardiac failure? The vet's failure to accurately assess this elderly little dog, and the hugely expensive fees for futile and prolonged interventions prompts suspicion.
Negative experience: Untrained and Dangerous Took our cat, fully vaccinated and kept indoors there with a digestive problem. Waste of time with digestive problem as no help at all, but due to poor hygiene cat caught flu and a skin infection. Staff had clearly not even washed their hands as skin infection where they touched our cat. Cat in so much discomfort may have to be put down. Now the dog and other cat have the skin infection. Were they trying to get more business? Basic failure in one of the first things taught in any medical or biological study, clean hands and equipment. Even high school science projects insist on cleaning everything before an experiment. Very likely staff member may have passed infection onto other animals that day and caught it themself.
Fantastic experience: The Staff and Vet were amazing. Very caring and understanding, highly skilled and provided detailed explanations and information. Would not hesitate to take my Siamese cat again if an emergency arises!
Negative experience: Being in a great deal of pain, we took our dog (Jazz, Ridgeback cross Staffy) in the hope of easing her pain and finding out what was wrong. The attitude was so unprofessional to say the least. Queried over our finances wasn't only an insult, but disgusting and shameful behaviour. Worst thing was that our dog was misdiagnosed with hip and arthritis issues, as it turned out it was a bowel obstruction which was the cause of her pain. Rude, unprofessional, uncaring, and worst of all, the mis-diagnosis of our pet... I feel terrible for anyone that has to take their pets in for help. Needless to say they were happy to take our money ($420).. I genuinely believe that they should be held accountable for their misdiagnosis, and should take responsibility for their unprofessionalism and disgusting attitude and behavior. Sincerely, Sam..
Negative experience: Complete misdiagnosis made on my dog, a lack of care or tests carried out. A general once over (by hand & eye) was completed only. I arrived at 4:30am in the morning, I was advised her pain was due to arthritis & sent home with anti inflammatories, at the cost of $420. I returned at 10:30pm the same night, only to be brushed aside again. Once my dog was seen by her usual Vet close to home, her bloods were taken, ultrasound scans done which revealed obstructions in her bowels & a severely inflamed pancreas. Not acceptable!!
Fantastic experience: Very welcoming and caring on our arrival from reception, triage to the veterinarian. After the examination I was given a comprehensive diagnosis and discussion about my choices for after care of Chilli my 15 year old dog. I can and would recommend AEC Mt Waverley. Very positive experience.
Negative experience: Customer service was not great, but the staff did their best to help. Very expensive (charged 5 times the amount a vet charges..). We also had some add ons to the invoice that we had prior discussed the doctor would not use. Discharge time changed twice.
Positive experience: Great service, care and attention for my mini schnauzer. I was impressed that the detailed records of her 24hr stay made it to the local vet promptly. Cost (on public holiday) was extraordinary $4,445! Quote was around $3,000.
Fantastic experience: I am beyond thankful for Zoe and the AEC team. My whippet pup needed urgent help and the staff bent over backwards, Zoe the vet was excellent and explained everything in detail and answered all my questions. The instructions on next steps was also very well thorough and I felt very well looked after, so I could look after my pet. My local vet had all the paperwork sent to them in preparation for when I made a follow-up appointment with my vet. A good animal emergency centre is something you want to keep under your hat until you need it. I’m actually really happy to know, without hesitation, I can take my pet to AEC and know we’ll be looked after. Thank you again and I highly recommend AEC.
Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed in this vet clinic, they seemed more money hungry then they did focused on what was actually best for my cat all around. We were instantly told the first 12hrs would be $2,800 & every 12hrs after that would be $1500. They kept pushing out the testing and wanting to run tests seperate one after another when they needed two tests to actually confirm the one thing so they could try and continue to extend into the next 12hr allotment, when I pushed back they would literally bully and push to try and guilt me into the next 12hrs and them getting another $1500; they charged me $3200 for a 12hr admission and in the end and found absolutely nothing, though still wanted to keep him for another 12hrs and sounded annoyed when I said I was coming to get him. In addition to that, when they gave him back to us he was in such an appauling state, I was literally so disgusted I felt sick I left my cat with them. He had food all over his bucket even though they told me he didnt anything (i told them he was fussy and bad allergies, they didnt seem to listen) yet after doing whatever they tried to do with the food they didnt bother to clean the bucket.... it was literally covered in food mess and stunk and his such a particular cat about his cleanliness, even his tail was filthy, no idea from what. He was so drugged he couldnt walk probably and his puples so dilated you couldnt see any colour in his eyes. I will never be taking any animal to them again. We also watched them bully two other people in the wait room and basically blackmail them about well we may as well put your pet down if you cant afford these fees, there was not one ressurance for these other owners at all. Then just pushed them to sign up with a credit line. I feel ripped off, but the worst part is the way they treated my poor family member.
Negative experience: Please unless this is the last option, do not bring your pet here. I am not one to write reviews but I had a very upsetting and distressing experience at this veterinary clinic. My dog had salt water and day of playing at the beach which is nothing out the ordinary for her. I noticed she was acting strange and become sick with breathing difficulties soon after. I eventually realised I had to get her some help and I found the closest place open to me which was here. They took her straight in and the reception staff were really lovely and helpful when they took her, she needed oxygen to get her levels back up, antibiotics and anti sickness tablets. I then spoke to the vet after she had been assessed, she was extremely concerned and said she needed to stay overnight to be monitored which would cost “roughly” $3,500 and more if they needed to take further action, which could of gone up to $7,000 ish. When I told the vet I could not do this because of the cost she was clearly not happy with my decision and said it was “harsh” but if I don’t get her the medical attention she needs she has to be put down. She was extremely vague and unclear about the severity of her condition. I was so stressed and confused of what to do I was vomiting and having a severe anxiety attack. I had no comfort that she may be okay or that my decision was going to be ok. She seems disappointed that I couldn’t afford it and then gave her back to me. When I took her home I stayed up all night to make sure her breathing settled and that she wouldn’t show anymore symptoms. The next day she was straight back to normal! eating, drinking and showing no signs of distress just simply exhausted. It has been two days since and my dog is absolutely back to normal. She is as happy and healthy as she was before she got sick, I am so utterly disappointed and upset that I was emotionally blackmailed into thinking my dog was going to need to be put down if she didn’t get further treatment when in reality she was far far away from this being the answer. I think this veterinary clinic is money hungry and exaggerated the situation regardless of my state and concern that I couldn’t treat my dog how they advised. I do appreciate the “duty of care” and concern for my dog but this is misinformation and blowing things out of proportion.
