Fantastic experience: Our dog ingested a corn cob so we rang west ryde vet clinic immediately after learning that corn cobs are dangerous for dogs. Jennifer was really caring and acted promptly so we could have an emergency consult and treatment. Dr Willem had a look at our dog and advised what needed to be done, reassuring us that everything was going to be okay. We are very grateful for the team at west Ryde vet clinic. Definitely a 5 star.

Fantastic experience: I took my cat (Simba) to West Ryde Greencross Vets to treat his teeth which required treatment. Dr. Karam Ali undertook the job and finally she did a remarkable work. Fantastic experience: Great Veterinarian practice. We see Will who always offers good advice regarding treatment plans for our dogs. We moved to this practice as we were always unable to get appointments when we need them at our previous vets and their costs were becoming unaffordable. Greencross Vets also have an affordable monthly membership plan.

Negative experience: I chose to take my pets, Coco and Milo, to Greencross Vet West Ryde because their previous owner had always gone there, but unfortunately my experience has been very disappointing. Firstly, I requested receipts for my visits, yet none were provided at the time. When I later called to follow up, I was told they had the wrong email address on file — despite me providing the correct one in their forms. I had to give my email again just to finally receive the receipts, which was frustrating and unprofessional. Secondly, the check-ups feel rushed and lack thoroughness. I had booked my pets in for vaccinations only, but the clinic administered the kennel cough vaccine without asking for my consent. This significantly increased the cost, especially since I had three pets with me that day. Transparency and communication should always come first in veterinary care, and I did not feel that here. Another ongoing problem is their poor record-keeping. Even though I filled out all the forms with Coco and Milo’s details, the staff repeatedly forget or confuse their information whenever I call. On one occasion, they didn’t even know whether Milo was a dog or a puppy. It’s concerning that pets who come in regularly for check-ups are not properly remembered or recorded — this raises serious doubts about how well they maintain their system and manage patient records. Overall, I expected a much higher standard of care, organisation, and professionalism. Instead, my experiences have been frustrating, costly, and disappointing. I truly hope Greencross Vet West Ryde improves its record management, communication, and overall service for the sake of both pets and their owners.

Fantastic experience: First time here- very positive experience! Brought my rescue cat in for her annual vaccination and check up and it was so quick and easy. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Good parking around the back or on the street.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Willem saw my two cats for their annual vaccines and a health check. He was very friendly. During the examination he was very gentle and patient with the cats. The receptionist was friendly upon arriving and when paying our bill.

Fantastic experience: We were distressed as our pup was clearly not her normal self - the vets who looked after Coco was amazing - he explained every step as he worked through his assessment of her situation. He outlined best and worse case scenarios but explained options for every outcome. Coco's treatment worked and well and she is back to her normal self. The vets was amazing.

Fantastic experience: This clinic goes above and beyond caring for the animals. Special mention to Ashleigh who found a paralysing tick on the cat we rescued and saved her life. Everyone in West Ryde looked after the cat extremely well until she was fully recovered and then we decided to adopt Mia. THANK YOU WEST RYDE TEAM. You are amazing!

Negative experience: After this vet transitioned to Green Cross, the vet's values changed. I wanted the vets to follow up with my cat who drastically started losing weight and stopped eating. I had previous visits with my cat prior to the event with urinary frequency. When the staff over the phone asked what is the reason for calling, I replied "my cat is refusing to eat and she has lost a lot of weight." Straight after I said this, the phone disengaged. When I rang one more time, the staff picked up in a frustrated tone, stating they have the right to hang up on me. Hung up on me a second time. I was so confused and felt isolated in this situation. I needed answers so I called one more time. Here, I have encountered the staff saying that I instigated aggression when they have no evidence that I have raised my tone or showed demanding behaviours. If you don't want to experience veterinarians with little customer service skills who take no accountability to follow up with your pets conditions then please refrain from coming here. My cat ultimately died on the 28/12/22 because another vet I went to that day could not receive valid information from his vet. I'm sure these people know what the truth was that day. Shame on them for exploiting their degree. I'm pretty sure the staff members involved wouldn't want to experience this with any of their family members whether they are pets or not. Your lack of empathy, dismissal of investigation, lack of customer service and general concern for welfare has caused a life to perish. This is the cat you could've saved if you did not avoid your responsibilities. She knows and I know the truth.

Fantastic experience: This is THE best vet in the whole area. I'd like to thank all the Dr's and staff for their absolute care in looking after our cat Tommy. Negative experience: Unfortunately this vet has gone downhill since they changed to Greencross. We used to always bring our family pets here but won’t ever be returning after a recent visit. Our dog had complications after a procedure they did and they weren’t able to fit him in afterwards for the urgent care that he required. They display a lack of care, compassion, and understanding. We ended up spending a couple of thousand dollars at SASH to get the help he needed urgently. Please look into other local options as there are much beter vets out there!

Negative experience: We had a horrible experience at Greencross Vets West Ryde, after our 9 year old Cavalier, Tyson, passed away at the clinic during a tear duct flush under sedation. This was deeply saddening as we were informed that this was a simple procedure. We have another cavalier who is struggling to adapt without his brother Tyson. It was highly emotional and was the worst experience to go through, we believe the extremely low probability of dog mortality during sedation deserves further investigation and support from the clinic on the steps taken during Tyson's procedure and what actions were taken to address his changing biometric conditions before his decline and passing. After requesting documentation of the procedure, the vet explained he is a contractor and the reports are the property of Greencross vets and that we need to reach out to their management if anything further is required. This experience is deeply saddening and requires further investigation and reflection from Greencross on their quality standard and duty of care of animals in their hands. We felt that the vet was insensitive and unsympathetic of this heartbreaking situation. The vet commented that he had to change his later appointments because of the extra time spent on trying to resuscitate Tyson. However, the receptionist, Jennifer, was very empathetic of the situation and showed compassion. Tyson was loved by a big family, as well as our neighbourhood, and was a very friendly and loving dog.

Negative experience: It was my vet clinic before, and now with change management due to franchise? wow, my first visit after franchise gave me the impression right away that i wont be going back to this clinic. My bill has doubled with a justification of new management. Have spoken to one of the vet, seem its making you worry and will want you to spend more money with poor medical judgement. Had a qoute with other clinic and it cost me fraction. Good luck and good bye.

Negative experience: This vet owned by a great vet/owner for many years before being sold to Green Cross (it is now a franchise) who have significantly upped the prices. It’s ridiculous how expensive visiting a vet has become compared to the past and you must be aware of how much they will bill you before you agree to anything. We will find another vet/owner-operator and not a corporate franchise.

Negative experience: During the health examination, the vet performed an Anal Gland Expression on my puppy without informing us that it would cost $47. We both thought it was free, as in most other vets this service is included in the consultation fee. We informed the vet that our puppy had not been dewormed since we got her. The vet gave her a tablet and provided me with NexGard Spectra. My partner and I both believed this would be free since my friend at Greencross Alexandria received the first worming product for puppy for free, but Greencross West Ryde charged me $38.7. Despite having a pet plan with Greencross that costs $45 per month, I still paid $73.2 when I left. I was shocked that no one informed us of these charges during the consultation, as we believed these services should be free. NexGard Spectra costs around $13 on Pet Circle, but the vet charged me $33.3. I feel this is ridiculous and am worried about future consultations. Why can't Greencross standardize their services? Can the vet inform the customer of each service's price before performing it?

Negative experience: Have been going there for 20+ years, but has unfortunately gone downhill since Greencross has taken over the practice. Prices have significantly increased, and they struggle to find vets to keep the practice open e.g. was closed today due to a shortage of veterinary staff. I would find an alternative

Negative experience: Beware of this place! I took my 10-week old puppy to the vet for vaccination ONE DAY after I picked her up from the litter. My puppy being a German shepherd dog and me a responsible owner, I discussed with the vet the risk for hip dysplasia in her breed. I also asked the vet if it is normal for a puppy of that age to be wobbly on her feet every now and then. It was in very broad terms, and the vet had a look at her hips and said they seemed fine, but still gave me the option to do an X-ray and a preventive surgery (on my 10-week puppy!). X-ray alone would have been over $1000 and it's being done under general anaesthesia (which comes with its own risks e.g. death). As I have learnt later on asking other vets, the chances to see hip dysplasia on an X-ray in a puppy that young is extremely low. Months later when I had to make a first claim with my puppy's health insurer for an unrelated issue, huge was my surprise to find out that the vet I saw that day wrote down in my puppy's file that she has "hindlimb weakness" and she is at "high risk of hip dysplasia", and therefore my insurer informed me that she will not be covered for hip dysplasia if she is EVER diagnosed with it. I emailed the clinic TWICE to ask for the clinical notes that vet wrote in my puppy's file that day, and they refused. That shows that they are well aware of the invalidity of those clinical notes, yet they are crooked enough to refuse my access to something I have paid for! I regret deeply ever stepping into this clinic. If I hadn't had a great experience at another Greencross Clinic, I would have turned my back to this whole vet chain. REPLY TO GREENCROSS: How long until I hear back from you? It's been weeks since I've sent an email to the address you gave me below...

Negative experience: Dr. David Croft was lovely, caring, competent and friendly. It's so sad that Greencross destroyed the practice he built after he sold out to them. They charge ridiculous prices now and the admin staff are so rude and the vets out very inexperienced. Healthy Pets Plus is a massive rip off when you pay it and can't even see a vet. Please read the terms and conditions very carefully before being stuck in the contract for twelve months. Believe me when I tell you that they do not care about your pets and none of their vets are capable of addressing any complicated health issues.

Negative experience: When West Ryde Vet Clinic was owned and operated by David Croft it was an amazing Veterinary Clinic as David and his staff really cared about the animals and their owners. Unfortunately since it has become a Greencross clinic the practice has really fallen to pieces. The new owners are extremely greedy with their charges and it is not possible to see a vet for over a month. DO NOT GET CONNED INTO THE HEALTH CARE PLUS DEAL as they are con people who can’t provide the service at west Ryde and charge huge fees for such things as anal gland expression and nail clips plus medications.

Fantastic experience: The vet here is extremely honest, they charge reasonable fees, they take care of your pets and everyone working here is very friendly. Last time I brought my sick cat here they charged $125 and within a week his cystitis was gone, they gave him antibiotics first before undertaking expensive tests and said to come back if his symptoms don’t improve. I will keep coming back here because I’m really impressed with their services. Thank you for providing a fair service and for being so transparent about the costs upfront.

Negative experience: Updates on my review: They used to be good! They are not anymore. Very disappointed in their service and professionalism. I have been to many vets and hospitals before and I can say West Ryde vet is now at the bottom of the list for their service. They are more like robots working in a job they hate now. Will consider doing a video to share my bad experience with them. My old review below: The clinic has good opening hours, good location and parking situation is pretty good. The vets and nurses are friendly and helpful. Sometimes when I had concerns about my pets, I could email them and still received response after hours, which helped ease my worries. Thank you West Ryde Vet for looking after our pets.

Fantastic experience: Good service. Even though there has been a price increase this was well communicated to me. I know money is always an issue for people but when you can tell that the people seeing your pet actually care it doesn't matter. Fantastic experience: The staff were so helpful when I called up to book an appointment. The clinic was very busy when I went in so I can see why they are always fully booked but I didn't feel like I was rushed and was given plenty of time to go through my concerns. Will definitely be my new vet

Negative experience: They do not honour their own quotes, giving me all the excuses in the world about a change of computer system and new vendors. At the initial consultation I was given a written quote for having our border collie speyed and 2 rear dew claws removed - $619. I arrive on the agreed date, and they've got no record of my booking, but can take her anyway. No problems during the op but come to pick her up and they want $1020!! Took 20 mins of negotiations to get the price down to $725. Not at all happy.

Negative experience: Used to come to this vet a while ago. Revisited a couple of weeks ago….. boy how things have changed. Got charged close to $1000 just for an X-ray and sedation. Then they said they had to send the animal elsewhere for treatment. What a waste of time. Went elsewhere got the whole procedure done for $2200. Avoid.

Negative experience: We have used this practice since 96. Cannot recommend them anymore since becoming Greencross vets. Picked up medication for my dog today it was $60. Last time is was $38.30 and that was only the 30th of October.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this clinic! I took my boy there when he had a nasty ear infection, and the results were amazing. The staff there are so dedicated and friendly, they make you feel right at home as soon as you walk through the door. Even though they can get busy at times, it just goes to show how great their service is. I recommend this vet to anyone who needs it.

Negative experience: Awful, awful place that try and extort you. Tried to charge us an extortionate amount for a surgery we ended up paying $5800 less for 30 minutes away west. They were also quoting $3K more than a vet in DOUBLE BAY but they don’t even do the surgery there. What are they even good for? How the hell does that work? Instead of seeing you and your beloved pet they see . Apparently used to be a great vet before the soulless corporation known as Greencross took over. Avoid!

Negative experience: I've been taking my two dogs to west ryde vet for about 2 years now. I've never had any problems with the veterinarians however, today I called to make a booking for my dog for a check up and regular vaccinations and was told there are no bookings whatsoever and we should call another vet. I did not need a same day or even same week appointment, I was not offered a date in advance at all. Terrible customer service I will be taking my dogs elsewhere from now on.

Negative experience: We have been going to this vet for years and have always had great service and caring staff before becoming a part of Greencross. Unfortunately now though it is almost impossible to get through on the phone. The phone just rings out. In the past if you had an urgent problem you could be seen at some point throughout the day. Today I took my dog to ask if someone could see her as she is in obvious discomfort and was told 2 weeks! I called another vet who I have never been to before and got an emergency appt in two hours. Won’t be going back there after going there for 20 years.

Negative experience: Our 16 year old cat attended this vet up until a couple of months ago. She’s been seen every 6-12 months. In that time I’ve taken her in with nighttime howling/?anxiety, broken tooth and only treatment suggested was anxiety medication. Then she got worse and I heard bad things about this vet, so I took her elsewhere. We then learn that she’s had bad osteoarthritis (causing her lots of pain), an infected tooth/jaw from their complacency with her broken tooth. They didn’t follow up on heart murmur and she has now been diagnosed with a heart condition. Under new vet she’s become pain free for her OA, and is receiving treatment for everything else. They told us to bring her in for checkups due to her advancing age but then failed to pick up on the issues she had (all things easy and obvious to check re her age). They didn’t recognise her ‘howling’ as being in pain. They prescribed anxiety medication for approx 8 years which I’ve now found out should be used for a max of 6 months. I feel terrible and sad and angry my pet was in pain for years (and I was frustrated and sometimes sleep deprived in response) when it was avoidable. I hear these guys are under new management but I fear their organisational culture will stop them being as good as they should be to effectively treat animals, and reach the standard of other vets in the area.

Fantastic experience: Great vets. Dr Claire is great vet. she notice some concern during a dental clean and tooth extraction on my cat. Called us asking she wants to check it and do further testing. Turns out my cat had cancer and gave us the bad news and how quickly we need to act if we wanted to do treatment. During the whole process she answered all our question and concerns. In the end we had to let our cat go. They made the whole process a little bit easier and reassured us we did make the right choice for our cat and how well we looked after him for the 16years he's been with us. Highly recommended this vet clinic if it that time for your beloved pets.

Negative experience: We have been to West Ryde vets for 3 years. We have also spent a lot of money here over the years and we have 3 dogs. We have also know David and he has always been a pleasure to deal with Today we experienced the rudest most unhelpful receptionist on the phone. This women should not be working in customer service. Could not even offer a solution for the fact we couldn’t get an appointment for two weeks and there was absolutely no urgency whatsoever to help us find an appointment. Find someone who is excited and happy to help people and show genuine concerns for animals. Instead of mumbling on the phone and struggling to communicate properly and kindly.

Negative experience: Overall I was very unimpressed with the service provided by West Ryde Clinic. This was my first experience at a vet with my own kitten which was expressed to Dr Claire. Considering this, it would be expected that an in-depth conversation needed to be had regarding ongoing care. Dr Claire did not introduce herself to myself or my partner, didn't ask us for our names and was quite dismissive towards our concerns. We were advised that our kitten needed a vaccination which we went ahead with however, we experienced quite adverse side affects with him the day after. Dr Claire did not explain what was to be expected after a vaccination was administered and left us very unprepared. I have now taken my kitten to another vet and from this experience it has solidified the unprofessional nature in which Dr Claire serviced our animal. Will not be going back.

Fantastic experience: This was the review i left 6 years ago:David at West Ryde Vet is fantastic. Would recommend this vet surgery very highly. NOW: after taking Lucy to this vet for years we have noticed its harder and harder to get an appointment. Today on the last day of her life we were told they could not see her. We felt abandoned. So lucky we found concord vet to be amazingly empathic and gave a caring devastating diagnosis immediately. She was let go in the most beautiful way possible. Sad her regular vet wasn't interested.

Positive experience: Initial visit was fine, the vet was helpful but maybe not as thorough as I would have liked. My biggest issue (this particular time) was the fact we were told to bring our cat back within 24 hours if no improvement, however when I called to bring him back, they couldn't fit us in for four days, and told us we could leave the cat there and they would see if they could fit him in between other appointments, or call around and find another vet to take him to, and they could send his files over. I found another vet, and immediately called them to send his files, which they said they would do immediately. When I got to the new vet 3 hours later, they had not received his files, and said they were waiting on me to give consent. I called them back and again asked them to please send the information, as we were now at our appointment and the vet needed to see the results from the previous bloods, and they still took a further 20 minutes to send through after much back and forth between the receptionists at both vets and myself. It wasn't great when we had a really sick cat, and we were already extremely stressed and anxious. If this were the only poor experience here, I could let it slide, but unfortunately it isn't, so we probably won't go back, except in emergency circumstances - and even then, I would try SASH first.

Fantastic experience: My GSD has been coming here since he’s a puppy. Unfortunately he’s constantly in and out of the Vet clinic due to his curious nature and some genetic problems. We are lucky enough to have David Croft to look after our fur baby since the very beginning and he has been absolutely amazing! Extensive knowledge and extremely caring and patient. When my dog was five months old we were struggling to find a boarding place due to his young age, David ended up taking him home and looked after him! We feel David and his team genuinely care about our dog and do their absolute best to look after them and to make stressful situations as easy as possible for the humans! Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Main vet Dr David was great and attentive for my dog's vaccinations. However, I had Dr Claire for my latest appointment and found her dismissive and unhelpful. As a new puppy owner, you expect the vet to be reassuring and not shut down your concerns. I ended up receiving better advice from a Facebook community. I recently moved to the area but would not recommend this clinic and in future, will be travelling further for a vet that displays more compassion.

Fantastic experience: The customer service and professionalism from this veterinary clinic is nothing but top notch. They take the time to speak with you about your pet's conditions and provide lots of tips and advice in overall pet care. Every time we rang, we were not just told to book in an appointment, the vets and nurses take the time to help us ease our anxieties and care for our sick pet in the mean time. This place cares about you and most importantly they care about your pet.

Fantastic experience: I don’t usually post reviews but the service we receive from all the vets in this centre is highly commendable. Especially Dr. David who performed a relatively long procedure with our doxy Pixie, is the best! David was in constant touch with us after the procedure, giving us the guidance and aftercare tips for a healthy recovery for Pixie. Never seen any other vet services at this level. Keep up the great work guys!

Fantastic experience: I had an emergency with my pet, and I was lucky to when walk-in, had two vets in the day and they easily accommodate us. Of course, I was informed that appointment would be better, but it was an emergency and I was ready to wait as long it takes if I wasn't that lucky. Team was very friendly and the vet was spot on on the analyses and recommendation.

Fantastic experience: First vet visit in my life as we just adopted a puppy. The receptionist was very welcoming, my puppy gets 5 star attention. The vet was very knowledgeable, definitely coming back for his next vaccination.
