Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend this team enough! Reception and vet staff all showed incredible support during a very tough day. A week later we received a hand written letter with paw and nose prints of our beloved family pet completely out of the blue and off thier own back! A personal touch that we are incredibly grateful for and really appreciated!

Fantastic experience: Dear Skye had an infection and a quick visit to the vets was required. They fit her in straight away and done a gap payment as well. She is on some antibiotics and will be good again in a couple of days. Thankyou from all of us. Mum, Dad, Lilly and Skye.

Negative experience: We took our dog in the vet because he has rushes and losing a lot of hair. And clip his nails our expectations is he will have blood test and check on him just to know what’s going on but it did not happen looks like she’s looks scared of my Rottweiler The vet took our dog into the room and clip his nails but only one paws then she recommended ointment to put in the rash. I won’t recommend and never go back again

Negative experience: Be mindful of which vet you see for your cat. My first appointment went well—the vet was kind, and friendly, so I decided to leave my cat overnight for treatment with her. However, the next day, a different vet took over and called me with an update. (I already paid for blood test and extra for the results) No matter what I asked, she couldn’t give clear answers, only saying she was unsure or didn’t know unless I paid for further tests. She then quoted me nearly $2,000 for additional treatment without certainty of what was wrong. My cat wasn’t improving, so I had to urgently book another hospital. When I went to pick her up, I requested the report, but it wasn’t ready. I only received it after pushing hard, and even then, it was very late. They didn’t even bother to write my name properly in the report, just used a symbol instead, which I found extremely rude. I spent $780 there for nothing and glad i moved my cat to other vet for better caring and affordable/reasonable price.

Negative experience: My concerns were not considered. Took my dog there for swollen leg/ lymph initially concerned as had previously had mast cell tumour removed in the area which was warm to touch. Had already monitored to see if it would get better for 1.5 days and had been icing at home etc. Vet did not seem interested and hardly examined the dog. I had to push for her to feel the lumps / lymphatic system. I had to push for his temperature to be taken. There was no mention of pain relief or anything to bring down swelling. Was told to bring in aprox 5 days later for an xray, and a skin sample for some small back lumps, which she was also not interested In and made no suggestions for- which over the few days waiting for his next apt became puss filled infected lumps/ they were red inflamed and scabby/ weeping upon initial consult. Over the weekend I had time to think about this and noticed my dog become increasingly sad, I wasn't satisfied by the disinterest and sought a second opinion at a different clinic. Immediately, the new vet took a needle aspiration and noted abnormal cells (likely cancer) and noted significant swelling in my dogs popolotiel (knee) lymph nodes - which I'd pointed out to previous vet. Immediately suggested something to assist with pain/ discomort / and swelling. And booked the following morning for a biopsy, so a treatment plan can begin once the cancer type and grading has come back, Or if it's a case of palliative care at home. I feel like I wanted to do more for my dog than the initial vet. When I asked questions I got really vague answers, and when I made suggestions for getting things tested etc I was fobbed off. The vet barely touched my dog and stood in the consult room away from him with her arms folded except for a 30 second once over. Not to mention the wait for a simple xray was 6 days. 6 days with no pain relief etc. The vet continued to circle back to pricing for skin biopsies and the cost of an xray, when it was made very very clear through the appointment that pricing was not an issue and not something we needed to consider. (However I will note for others that the cost was aprox $600 more than our new vet) so if $ is something others are factoring in you may need to be aware of this, as well as the consult fee being higher than others in Palmerston area. Congratulations to everyone who has previously received great service here. I'm happy for you. However we did not and as a result I've now got a delayed diagnosis and that's resulted in a delayed treatment plan etc - which could have potentially ment the difference between a dog with curable cancer to a dying dog. The place is also disgusting the floors need a hell of a deep clean. Such a shame its just not the quality service we received when living in darwin 7 years ago and taking all our dogs here.

Fantastic experience: Having problems, am f2 disabled. Getting pesterside done at home. Palmerston veterinary hospital has cages to loan with deposit. Well my 2 babies need to be put somewhere for the day whilst pest control is done. So the veterinary clinic offer to put my cats with them for the day. Oh such a relief knowing they will be safe and sound. As i dont have much money this borrow and return boxes with deposit is a great choice for me.

Fantastic experience: Very compassionate when I had to take my boy to be PTS. Very professional, kind and explained everything when I have taken my other pets for their check ups, Vax, or treatment. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: The prices here are expensive but it is close to home. When I have no other choice I use this vet due to the cost.

Negative experience: The WORSE vet clinic I’ve ever had the experience of dealing with. First of all a lot of the veterinarians are fresh out of university with little experience in other words they are more costly because they often make more mistakes and misdiagnosis very common. Of the many times I’ve taken my dogs in for a check up after the procedures are done I will always get a bill noticeably much more expensive then the original quote. This is annoying as the less experienced veterinarians don’t know what they are doing and I often had to come back which costed more money instead of having a experienced veterinarian who usually knows what’s wrong first time and cost and I mean cost less for one visit instead of 2 or more . On another episode I left my dog with them to be overnight for heat stroke. When I see them the next day the staff apologised for not being able to put him on drip or do anything as he was aggressive but they still expected me to pay just them leaving him a cage overnight and not doing a thing. On another occasion I brought my dog in the young veterinarian couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my dog and opted that it’s ok if I wish to put my dog down I looked at her and said no was given painkillers for the dog a few days later dog was back to normal. After my dog passed away I changed Vets and very glad I did, the location of the vet at Royal street is very unpleasant right next to an indigenous only health facility which often has unruly patients, teenage delinquents, homeless people, aggressive people on drugs and alcohol and this made me worry about my own personal safety or that my car would be stolen. I’m much happier at the new vets I go too at a nice location with experienced veterinarians and staff.

Fantastic experience: Found a little kitten in the car park. Too small to look after and couldn't care for him. Palmerston vet took him and gave him antibiotics and said they would care for him. His now in Foster care so I gave food cat cage and assessories as my contribution for taking care of the lost kitten and find him a loving home. Thank you

Fantastic experience: We have been taking our pets to Palmerston Vet for a long while now and have always received thorough and caring service, however this time the vet went above and beyond. Yesterday we saw Simona in regards to my dogs skin troubles and Simona went above and beyond to educate me and support me to take care of my dog and his skin. We have seen various vets over time regarding his skin condition and allergies and none have taken the time to educate and explain like Simona has. Simona clearly cares a lot about her job and helping pets through education, not just medication. Thank you so much Simona. ❤

The staff are friendly, helpful, and really knowledgeable - and finding a suitable appointment is a breeze! We even accidentally forgot a lead once, and they were more than happy to lend us one! Great service is few and far between in Darwin, and we love the Palmerston Vet clinic and their staff!
