Fantastic experience: My dog has orthopaedic issues and I was super worried about him as he’s still young. VSOS docs put my mind at rest and were so patient, kind and caring! Would 100% recommend and they processed my insurance as gap only on the day.

Fantastic experience: We took our nervous rescue Poppy to VSOS on a Saturday for an infection that required attention. Having been turned down by other clinics due to the challenges of handling Poppy, all the staff at VSOS (admin, triage nurse, vet nurse and vet) were incredibly positive, empathetic and pragmatic. They gave us a quiet consult room to wait in, worked within Poppy’s boundaries to give her the best care and ensured the experience was as stress free and swift as possible. It was such a relief to know Poppy was in the best hands and a stressful situation was made more manageable thanks to the wonderful care and support at VSOS. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Veterinary Specialists of Sydney were absolutely amazing when we took our 14 year old Australian Kelpie to them. All of the staff were lovely, they made us feel calm, helped answer all of our questions and made sure that our beloved dog was given the best care. Dr Jack especially was absolutely wonderful, he went above and beyond to make sure we got to the bottom of what was wrong while keeping her as comfortable and calm as possible. Fantastic experience: We visited about 9:30 pm. After a travel time of around 40 minutes, we arrived. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit their practice again if needed.

Fantastic experience: We really got the best possible outcome and outstanding care from Dr Rachel Basa and the team at VSOS for our pet cat. Our cat had severe TMJ ankylosis and we were running out of options and weren’t even sure if there was a surgical option. After visiting a couple of clinics, Rachel was the one who gave us confidence to try the surgical route and it has saved our cat’s life. I would highly recommend VSOS not only for their excellence but their team’s compassionate care.

Fantastic experience: We are forever grateful to Dr Barbara & the team for providing exceptionally kind, caring, compassionate and high quality care for our cat, who, thanks to the VSOS team, managed to survive for years with cancer. Truly a state of the art facility with top specialists. We felt emotionally cared for as a family during these difficult times.

Fantastic experience: My Poppy was given all the care and attention she required after suffering from a ANNPE. The team from emergency, nursing staff and her Neurologist Dr Diego Salvatierra were so thorough in their investigation and assessment of her acute illness. She stayed overnight with 24hr care and once she was allowed to come home I received a take home pack of instructions of how to care for her during her long recovery. Having access to Dr Salvatierra for any concerns during her rehabilitation put my mind at rest after a very stressful time. I can highly recommend VSOS for all emergency care and specialist care.

Fantastic experience: Took my 5 month old Maltese puppy to 24HR VSOS late at night after he hurt his paw and I was very worried. The staff and nurses were incredibly kind and reassuring, answered all my questions, and were very accommodating. There was a small wait as expected, but a nurse came out, thoroughly checked him over and confirmed he was healthy and nothing serious was wrong. My puppy is doing great now — thank you to the whole team for looking after a very anxious owner and his pup!

Negative experience: Well trained salespeople probably on commission Took my very sick 13 year old dog in expecting medical care — felt like I walked into a sales pitch. Instead of clear guidance, it was a steady upsell of medications, add-ons, and overnight stays that didn’t feel necessary — just expensive. Every recommendation came with a price tag attached, and it was hard to tell where genuine care ended and revenue targets began. Pet owners come in worried and vulnerable. That shouldn’t be an opportunity to maximise billing. Left feeling more like a customer in a showroom than an owner in a clinic.

Fantastic experience: Excellent veterinarian on call. Took care of our puppy late on a Saturday evening when she was misdiagnosed by our usual vet. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend and thank everyone enough at VSOS for the thorough care of my cat in the past 24 hours. I would highly recommend and would absolutely not hesitate to make the trip from Wollongong for the best care again. A big thank you to Dr Rachel for taking the time with Tiggles and being thorough with a care plan and also your incredible communication. We both truly appreciate it !

Fantastic experience: Gary our little Dashie had to have spinal surgery. VSOS we’re straight to point no BS. Was good to get realistic feedback. Also the feedback from the surgeon every day after surgery. Gary is still recovering. Thank you VSOS.

Fantastic experience: From the moment we walked in with Jet, our 7 year old Cavoodle after a suspected seizure, all of the staff made us feel reassured. They were all extremely professional, knowledgeable and calm which made a scary time more manageable. Michelle gave us great advice and we now have Jet home with us.

Fantastic experience: Thanks to the team for taking care of our boy Bailey. They quickly diagnosed an allergic reaction to a green ant bite and treated him with an antihistamine injection. Bailey recovered well and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend VSOS to anyone looking for knowledgeable, caring, and professional support for their pets.

Fantastic experience: Took my boy in when he wasnt going to the toilet properly. The receptionists were amazing and the nurse and vet helped calm my worry providing prompt advice and care. The wait time was as expected at an emergency clinic although i got everything i need to treat my beautiful boy

Fantastic experience: VSOS have looked after both our senior dogs for emergencies and have been amazing. The staff are caring and the service is prompt. A vet nurse will see you first and triage before the Vet comes in. Any time i have called with questions the staff are very helpful.

Fantastic experience: My visit to VSOS today, as an emergency patient for my dog Shia was excellent. The staff showed compassion, empathy and expertise in caring for my dog. Fantastic experience: Fantastic front desk and veterinary staff. They have treated my 18 y old Burmese giving here a wonderful quality of life towards the end of her journey, and now my kittens. Couldn't recommend VSOS any higher.

Positive experience: Being a Veterany Hospital, you would expect the timeframe to see the patient, with &/or without an appointment, to be in a more quicker & timely manner. Triage wasn't done in this case. During the period of waiting, we had no triage. People couldn't wait for a vet to see them. We were waiting a good 5 hrs even when I rang through to speed the waiting time, before a Vet could see us. I would hate to be in a predicament if it were a life or death situation.

Fantastic experience: All the staff were kind, courteous, attentive, caring & informative when we arrived with our very sick border terrier at 11pm. After a quick welcoming receptionist greeting, a lovely triage nurse assessed our family member, then a wonderful vet attended whose diagnosis was clear & concise so we could make an informed decision from the options presented. We chose to admit him. We were kept informed by phone as to his progress. Their care & support was so appreciated and within 12 hrs he was well enough for us the take him home with a care plan, paper documented with copies emailed. Thanks to the team at VSOS.

Fantastic experience: Staff were extremely friendly and compassionate. They knew and understood how hard it is to leave a beloved dog there overnight for fluids and tests. They made the whole experience as good as it could be. The doctors were patient in explaining and made it clear what their intentions and expectations were. Gave clear and concise directions and detailed discharge information. Front desk staff were amazing. Answering questions and providing information regarding insurance. The staff taking care of the animals were caring and loving and hands on for cuddles. Would recommend totally for hospital treatment for your pet and the comfort of 24/7 is reassuring

Negative experience: I was disappointed with my recent experiences at this clinic. On 22.01.26 and again on 29 Jan 2026 at around 5 pm, the receptionist was passive-aggressive and rude, and refused to give her full name when asked. In both visits the customer service felt dismissive and lacking basic respect—especially upsetting given the stress of caring for a sick pet. While the hospital advertises specialised and advanced veterinary care with compassionate support, my interactions with the front desk staff were unprofessional and frustrating. Communication should be part of good care, and unfortunately that was missing here.

Fantastic experience: Great service, great team. Polite, caring & professional. Highly recommend. As a first time puppy mum the stress of having an ill puppy was torture. They made us feel extremely comfortable & provided great care, quickly!

Fantastic experience: 6pm i found my dog playing with a red belly snake in the back yard, which my dog had then killed. In a panic i called VSOS and was met with calmness and care. They took my Airedale straight through to look for bites, take bloods and monitor her. Vet Kieren was very thorough explaining my options again with kindness. We left her overnight confidence she was in the best place receiving the best care.

Fantastic experience: Amazing care for my sick cat. I have had to visit VSOS 3 times in last couple of months and have been blown away by the care, sensitivity and consideration of all staff including reception staff, nurses and the vets. Dr Gilead and Dr Russell in particular were wonderful.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had to visit VSOS 24hr Emergency Vet a few times now with my cat Ben, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Every visit is naturally stressful, but the vets and admin staff are consistently helpful, reassuring, and comforting. They truly understand how to support both the pet and the owner during emergency situations!!!

Fantastic experience: Our little girl Mabel had a suspected snake bite but she received the absolute best care from triage through to diagnosis and testing then ultimately release for home. Big shout to James for caring but direct communication throughout the process. Thanks heaps!

Fantastic experience: Staff were caring and made every attempt to make my cat comfortable. Really appreciate that the consultation wasn't rushed. Highly recommend for a 24hr animal hospital in case of emergencies

Fantastic experience: We took our boy, Kingsley, to VSOS following six seizures. We drove an hour from the Illawarra, as they were the closest clinic offering specialist support. The entire team was absolutely beautiful in the way they supported us. One of the vets even offered us a quiet room to rest, as we hadn’t slept all night. Diego the neurologist was thorough and clear in explaining our options. We know our boy is quite anxious in unfamiliar environments, but I knew he was in good hands as everyone was so caring from the start. The receptionist, nurses, and Diego all did a wonderful job keeping me updated. I was understandably very concerned and called several times, yet I never felt like I was too much — each time, the receptionist was incredibly kind and reassuring. Kingsley procedure of MRI and spinal tap went well with no complications! I would highly recommend VSOS to anyone in the Illawarra area needing specialist support. They looked after my boy like he was their own.

Negative experience: I have had the most horrendous veterinary experience of my life today - thanks to VSOS Miranda. I have emailed already, without reply. At 3am my 12 week old puppy woke up crying... which is very unusual. She continued to cry and throw her head around for the next hour or so.... jolting every now and again as though a full body shock was occurring. Her left eye began to swell and she was ravenously thirsty. I put her in the car just after 5am and arrived at VSOS Miranda at 6am. We were met by a nurse, who had a quick look at her - snd took her temp. Not seeing the crying or thrashing about, she told us to wait for the vet in the first consulting room and said she would check in. About an hour later she popped her head in, said the vet wouldn't be long. More crying and thrashing around... it was awful trying to keep her settled with no real way to comfort her other than keep cuddling her. Another hour went by....now after 8 am and after 2 hours of waiting in distress and no sign of anyone coming, I couldnt stand watching her in pain any more so picked her up and went out to reception. A different nurse was at the desk, very surprised to see us - with allegedly no idea that we were there I explained the situation... and she shooed us back into the consulting room away from the waiting room...which now had people in it with their dogs. She came in shortly after to confirm that we had indeed been forgotten about.... said that there was only 1 vet on and another wouldn't be there until 12pm.... Without looking at Sadie at all, she recommended that I go to my regular vet, as it would likely be quicker... then ushered us out the back door because there was a case of kennel cough. I am FURIOUS. I went there for help. Yes... I know she may have appeared cute / cuddly / not immediately in danger at first glance.... but I went there knowing full well it would likely be an enormous bill but HOPING for peace of mind and to rule out anything horrible. I am an experienced dog owner and could clearly and reliably communicate her symptoms.... we did not deserve to be ignored and forgotten. I left there in tears and drove another 30 minutes to my regular vet, who I love... and waited on their doorstep until then opened at 9am. They, of course... took Sadie immediately. I had to leave there without her and come home, while she stays under observation - so they can make sure she isn't having seizures and to wait for the blood results that they ordered. So now I am at home, waiting and trying to comfort my 3 kids who are devastated, with no real idea of what is wrong.... hoping and praying that the lack of attention and horrible non-existent handover at VSOS Miranda, does not mean that something that could have or should have been picked up and or treated early has been missed. Mistakes happen ... and I am normally on the side of being gracious and understanding.... but this is difficult to swallow - I tried SO hard to do the right thing by my baby girl - and am rightfully angry. They need to take some responsibility and do better.... while we wait to be updated. In the meantime, I have received a message from "Jemma" thanking me for choosing VSOS to care for Sadie and requesting that I leave a good review to support the business. I am absolutely appalled. Do better.

Fantastic experience: We needed to see a vet for our kitten after hours. They were great. So kind and provided clear instructions (written and verbal) about medication. They made sure to let me know That if there were any issues or I had any concerns to bring her back to the clinic. I would recommend VSOS to anyone requiring after hours care for their animal!

Fantastic experience: This was the first time I visited this practice. So clean and professional. The staff are absolutely lovely. The triage system is very well organised and despite my dog having a non-urgent condition the wait was not long at all. The nurse who saw my dog had amazing bedside manner, which really helped ease my dog (she is extremely anxious). Would definitely recommend this veterinary practice to people.

Fantastic experience: Triage nurse - attentive and amazing. Vets are out of this world. Genuinely caring - for both humans and four legged companions - they provide the best, most thorough service you can ask for. Even belly rubs and photo updates. They’re also conscious of $s for carers and do their best to keep costs within budget. Second visit for Pepe after he helped himself to 240 (yup 240) HIGH dose Vit D capsules. Vets sprang into action immediately. Not quite out of woods yet but it’s looking positive. Vets have kept me apprised on Pepe’s status through the night and today. They’re just amazing. Best care you could hope for

Fantastic experience: Our dog had diarrhea for the last 4 days, wasn’t eating but as on few medications for seizure wasn’t feeling well and started to have tremors, it was Sunday and we had taken him to the VSOS. Surprisingly, that time waiting time wasn’t too long, he was seen by the triage nurse within 15-20 minutes, not the usual waiting period about 2-3 hours due to various emergencies. Then vet Jemma made her assessment. We expressed our concerns and gave a history of what was going on for the last month. Jemma heard us out and thoroughly checked out puppy. He received anti- nausea injection, we were given instructions and vet prescribed canned food ( however our spoiled puppy didn’t like it) regardless, followed all the guidelines our puppy feels better today and managed to eat home made chicken and rice.

Fantastic experience: My dog had an injury and went downhill quickly while I was traveling. Dr Leonie was amazing and so caring and fixed my boy up so quickly an compassionately and he was good as new the next day. I really appreciate the amazing care he received and the facilitiy is amazing. Thank you so much

Fantastic experience: I can’t explain the absolute gratitude we have for this Animal Hospital! Our boy Koda was critically ill and we were in a panic! Rang the hospital and with in 20 mins he was in their care. Everyone of the staff there were so lovely and caring, which set our minds at ease that he was in the best possible place with the most professional staff around! We had to leave him over night and everytime we called for a check in everyone was so friendly and helpful and gave us all the answers needed. I highly recommend this Animal hospital! Fantastic experience: My frenchie is anaphylactic. She’s been bitten by bees a number of times and each time we’ve taken her to VSOS. They were very quick at getting her cortisone and histamine injections before swelling kicked in. They carefully monitored her breathing due of swelling and very professional in reporting back to us. This happened on an evening walk so having them 24 hour gave us peace of mind that she could be treated as soon as possible. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: Exceptional service by the team at VSOS. They took extreme care of my dog who had to undergo emergency surgery. Constant updates were given, and made sure to keep us at peace during a stressful time. It was also a bonus that they provide GapOnly, making it so much easier to make decisions. Fantastic experience: Had our little boy, a cute very fluffy cat spend a few nights as he had a blood clot in his heart. Poor thing. The team her looked after him very well with their personal veterinary service they provide. We had to travel up from Wollongong to have our cat Spot looked after. Fantastic experience: Professional team & no nonsense vets. Recently I brought my 8 year old GSP who had suddenly lost the feeling in her back legs into VSOS. Fantastic experience: My overall experience was calming and reassuring. Coming from a different emergency vet, I chose to get a second option and VSOS has made all the difference. The service and overall experience was exceptional and you knew they cared.

Positive experience: In this occasion only the nurse was able to see my car, only one vet was on duty and there was Two emergencies in front of me which meant a long wait which the triage nurse advised me and I appreciated that. We had gone two days before for the same reason , the wait was long but we got to see a vet.

Negative experience: A few months back my dog was struck by a car SOS being the only vet available at 8pm was our only choice so we went there After having a very quick “look over” of him they said we need to do this, this and this From memory there was about 8 different things she wanted to do including scans and shots etc… She then asked for my approval before even discussing price I then took it upon myself to ask what all this was going to cost She replied “ well if we only do what’s really necessary “ taking the list from say 8 things to 4 or 5 things the bill would of been over $6,000 I honestly just wanted to laugh in her face These people do not care so much about your animal as much as they do money I found the way they handled things shady ( recommending a long list of things without discussing price in a desperate time where some people wouldn’t even ask about cost not expecting such an exorbant bill ) We then walked out of there and took our dog Carter Road Companion Animal Practice the next day and was told he was completely fine, gave us some pain killers and walked out there paying under $250 Shame on you SOS for taking advantage people

Fantastic experience: New Year’s Eve, local vets were closed. Thankfully I came across VSOS. They took me in and within a few minutes, my pet was being looked after. The nurse and the doctor were very caring and before I knew it I was on my way home. Very pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. Highly recommend VSOS. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Great in a pinch. Not cheap, though that's not uncommon. However, they are very up-front about costs - offering various options, detailing various possible other costs - so they don't swindle you. Edit: didn't mean to make the review all about money matters. Really appreciate their 24/7 availability, and compassion, empathy, and professionalism.

Fantastic experience: Karina is incredible. I feel confident that I found the right specialist to look after and love Lola almost as much as I do.

Negative experience: Zero empathy for serious cases. I recall a specialist consultation where the vet (a woman) was on her phone throughout. I would ask questions and have to wait for her to get off the phone to respond. Due to the distressing time I did not make a comment to her but it really bothered me how unprofessional and dismissive the vet was. Euthanasia was offered as an option but absolutely no advice or guidance for alternatives. It seemed like my dog was more of a burden then a priority. Whilst they did not make me wait like others, it seemed like more of a quick money grab to them than anything else. Please consider going elsewhere if your case is urgent and would like some proper or specialist advice.

Fantastic experience: We knew it wasn’t an emergency but our regular vet was closed for Xmas new year period and Jack was in great discomfort with skin infection on face, we phoned ahead and VSOS said to bring him in but may be a wait 40 to 60 minutes. Jack was seen by a vet nurse while vet dealt with other pressing cases. Jack was attended to with care and compassion and his treatment was superb, we were kept updated as things progressed and he was discharged feeling much better. We were very happy

They got all of the cancer with clear margins, and communicated clearly and kindly throughout. Oscar‘s nose looks really great and he’s healing well. Fantastic experience: Excellent care . Lovely friendly caring staff . This was our 5th visit in our pups 17 months of life & the care is excellent. They were super busy today , but we didnt feel we were rushed & the Vet Dr & Nurse thoroughly checked her out . It is so reassuring knowing that there is 24 hour care available for our pets . Positive experience: We didn't get seen by a vet but the triage nurse that did see us and did a quick check up on my dog was so kind and helpful. 3am on Christmas day too! I really appreciate the peace of mind she gave me. Thank you so much

Fantastic experience: This was our first visit and what friendly and informative staff. We came in on Christmas Night and were well looked after, given lots of information and had time to make choices that would best suit our pup's symptoms and us. We are so grateful for these guys being around and open to support us when we needed them. I had full confidence in what they suggested we do. Our girl spent today sleeping after her long night and little procedure but was feeling slightly more alert this afternoon. Thanks again, she is on the road to recovery.

Fantastic experience: THANK GOD FOR Veterinary Services of Sydney! My dogs are my life. They’re usually very good dogs but out of no where they lost their minds and had a go at each other, and well, they did a real number on each other, and of course it was late on a Sunday night…you know, when the vet is closed. I had one dog unable to walk and bleeding from the neck, another yelping and unable to open his eye, and I didn’t think a wash and a bandaid until morning would do. Thank goodness for VSOS. I called and they said bring them right in. I did and the vet looked them over individually, cleaned them up, and calmed us all down, before sending us home with antibiotics and pain relief. Both dogs walked out without a whimper and I was completely relieved. Both the receptionist and the vet were compassionate and caring, and knowledgeable and professional. And the practice was open at 9:00 on a Sunday night just before Christmas!

Fantastic experience: My Pomeranian had 2 seizures and my partner rushed him here - the service and staff were amazing ❤️ I am so happy with our experience here and how everything was thoroughly explained. This is definitely a place that cares about your pets wellbeing and are honest with what your pet needs. Very different experience. We had to keep him overnight and of course we were worried however our Pomeranian was loved and cuddled and We even got a photo update from the nurse to say he was ok and given the photo he looks so happy. Fantastic experience: Who else could take such amazing care of our baby girl Chilli Karina is absolutely awesome so is Frank thank you so much for what you have done for Chilli from the age of four. We were givena 30% survival rate. She has now reached the age of nine. She got sick when she was four and we could not have asked for any better outcome than what we received today was just awesome news. Fantastic experience: Took my elderly (15yrs) dog to VSOS as he is unwell and I worry about him at his age. A nurse checked him out and gave us advice about his condition, which gave me the confidence to monitor him at home.

Fantastic experience: Our 5 year old Boxer Millie was diagnosed with cancer in January and we were reluctant to commence treatment as we did not want her to be slow, sick & sluggish like chemo does to humans. We were looked after by Doctor Barbara and Nurse Taylor who looked after her so well. She underwent chemo for approximately 8+ months, with little symptoms - so much that people would often ask “are you sure she is sick??”. She was SO well looked after by the staff at VSOS. From the staff on the counter, to the teams out the back, she always trotted in to the facility happy and excited to see her friends out the back. She passed two weeks ago, but VSOS gave us almost 12 months with her that we wouldn’t have had without them - cannot rate highly enough!

Fantastic experience: I took my bulldog in as an emergency patient. She was very unwell with cardiac issues. The team were fast acting, efficient and caring in their approach. I could not speak more highly of the cardiologist we spoke with. He was clear, up front and honest about everything going on which i very much appreciated. I was only there a short time but it was evident how hard working and passionate everyone is in this clinic. I am grateful for every extra minute we have with our girl and know it is because of the actions of the treating team involved in her care. Thanks so much everyone.

Positive experience: Took my little Chihuahua I to VSOS yesterday after receiving a referral. We were met with a happy greeting and settled in. Once in the consultation the care giving to our Chihuahua was top notch. After being referred for Surgery, the cost was a shock compared to what we were quoted by our local vet, but care costs. We underwent the surgery which was delayed, but it went through without an issue. We are happy to have our little man home with us. We highly recommend this Services, it is expensive. You get what you pay for. The Service was top notch.

Fantastic experience: Thank you for looking after my boy Elmo today. He's a nervous boy with a complicated history. Dr Amy was wonderful with him and I really appreciated the multidisciplinary approach to his care. As a vet myself it was great to know he was in excellent hands getting the specialist care he needed. Thank you so much for putting my mind at ease today. Fantastic experience: The team at VSOS particularly Dr Elena Pavlova were wonderful during a really hard time for us. They acted promptly, always called when they said they would to keep us updated and took excellent care of our baby even when no more could be done for her. We are so grateful for their guidance and compassion during this time.

Negative experience: My experience was similar to many of the negative reviews posted here and I was very disappointed with my experience. I rushed my pet cat to this emergency clinic and took upon all of their advice and recommendations. They were incredibly responsive at this initial appointment, taking him in immediately and I was quoted $3,800 to run the life saving treatment. The next day, I was handed a bag with medications and paperwork with no explanation and was told a vet was not available but to call if there were any questions. I had some questions and contacted the clinic daily by phone, email and even an in person visit, being told each time that nobody was available but that somebody would be in touch by the end of the day. This happened for SEVEN days before contact was finally made. This delay led to a critical downfall in the cats medical condition. Upon taking the cat to another clinic and seeking advice elsewhere, we have had long-established local veterinary businesses advise us that these issues happen 'all the time' with VSOS and that customers need to speak up or it will keep happening. Upon taking our cat to another clinic for his ongoing care, we have been met with prompt professional service with follow ups and responses taking place within the hour. We would never go back to VSOS after this awful experience.

Fantastic experience: We were so happy with the care shown to our much loved dog Abby. Everything that was happening to Abby was explained to us by Rachel in a way we could understand and make appropriate choices for her care.
