Fantastic experience: The emergency vet Jess was an absolute godsend this weekend when we had to rush our senior dog in. She had patience and grace with me for one of the most agonising decisions a pet owner ever has to make. She allowed me to sit with my dog as long as I needed before and after she crossed the rainbow bridge and was so understanding with how upset I was. I cannot fault the care and compassion she had.

Negative experience: Absolutely horrible experience here had my dog desexed here and have had nothing but trouble since has ear infections now from having a reaction to the ink have had to have them make up staff cause chemist stuff wasn’t working so that cost a arm and a leg after being told there be no charge what a joke that was than just cause we missed appointment mind you it was during the week not after hours or weekend we get a $95 bill for no show not even the doctors charge that who do you think use are!!

Fantastic experience: After hours service when desperately needed. The vets are good. One of my boys (Clyde) passed away this morning. Thank you for the emergency surgery that you gave him some years ago. You gave me many more years with him & his pretty eye that made him handsome for the girls.

Fantastic experience: My dog Iggy needed emergency vet care last night, and while Ballarat Pet and Farm vet isn’t our usual clinic, the care that Iggy received could not have been better. Dr Jess was amazing right from the first phone call. It was obvious that she cares deeply and is passionate about her patients. So thank you Dr Jess and team for taking great care of Iggy and putting him on the path to recovery ❤️‍ Iggy and Kate.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend seeing Jess Ellis! We have been seeing her for the past 6 months with my German shepherd. Every concern or issue she is so quick to call me back or do what she can do to help, hands down by far the best vet the reception are so helpful also

Fantastic experience: Our cat become increasingly unwell over the weekend, I called Monday morning and had an appointment at 9.30. We had a diagnosis very quickly, unfortunately our cat had to be euthanized. However it was done with great care ,dignity and respect to us all. Thanks to those who cared for us all. The little frame and candie on the desk were a beautiful touch too .

Negative experience: Extremely disappointing and distressing experience I brought my goat to this clinic with abdominal pain and colic symptoms. At that time, she was still standing, conscious, had no seizures, no neurological symptoms, and was passing stool. I was seeking help and trusted the professionals to act carefully. Unfortunately, after the consultation and treatment, her condition deteriorated dramatically within 24 hours. She developed severe neurological symptoms and distress that she did not have before the visit, and she passed away shortly after. The treatment provided raised serious concerns: • No detoxification or fluid therapy was performed despite a possible poisoning scenario • Medications were administered that, in my opinion, were inappropriate and risky when the cause was unknown • No clear diagnosis or explanation was given • No monitoring or observation plan was offered I paid $258 for what felt like a generic, thoughtless protocol, not a careful or individualized medical decision. Instead of stabilization and caution, the treatment appeared to worsen her condition rather than help. This has been an incredibly painful experience. I trusted this clinic during an emergency and was left with more questions than answers — and the loss of my animal shortly after. I would strongly advise other owners of farm animals to ask detailed questions, request clear reasoning for medications, and be cautious, especially in cases involving possible toxicity or unknown causes.

Negative experience: Charge way to much to come out. Charge a fee but then charge a travel fee on top of that! They won’t give any advice whatsoever even with a picture. Just out to grab your money like a lot of other places now. To much greed.

Negative experience: Do not go to this vet they like lap on extra 60.00 more on to your bill after there finished with your pet.

Negative experience: Don’t take pet budgies here. Completely clueless and a waste of time and money. Clearly lacking experience but still willing to manhandle my budgies as part of a 5 minute consultation. Expensive as well. I’ve had a better experience with avian care with the vets on Mair Street

Fantastic experience: First time dog owner here. Came into Ballarat Pet Farm Vet to ask for some information regarding a dog I recently adopted, and Tara was fantastic! She truly went above and beyond anything I was expecting, helping with the microchip number, and to contact the previous owners, setting me up with the right forms. I was a walk-in, at lunchtime, and she took the time to not just answer my questions, but really help me set me and Miles up for success. Excellent customer service, we will be back!

Negative experience: Peoples pets are not a cash cow to milk for profit! I wouldn't take a dead animal here again let alone a live one, if you value your pets life, STAY CLEAR!

Negative experience: Good Vets but sometimes they don't do what they say they are going to do like ring you at a certain time to discuss an urgent issue

Fantastic experience: Such caring vets and staff. I brought in a beautiful RosellaBird whom had been hit and left for dead on the road. After taking him carefully to the Ballarat Pet and Farm Vet I gave to the lovely ladies at the front whom took him and immediately started talking to him. They kept him in overnight and after doing test and consulting with the Ballarat Wildlife people they found he had a contagious disease and broken wing. The Pet Vet called me the following day to tell me their findings and explained to me that there would be no recovery for him. I want to say THANK YOU for keeping in touch and also explaining to me everything about the beautiful Rosella. You were kind, compassionate and showed empathy towards myself and your little patient .

Fantastic experience: Really helpful kindly vets and staff.

Negative experience: The female vet nurse that was seeing my dog, dismissed the severity of my dogs sickness. The vet nurse was visibly scared of our dog even after we assured her multiple times she is more than friendly and would not hurt a fly. Our dog has gone down hill and we feel the vet nurse was incredibly incompetent and dismissive of our dogs condition which is now going to cost us multiple vet visits. Absolutely not good enough when an animals life is in your hands. Do not recommend if you are to go there with a larger breed dog.

Fantastic experience: I have recently changed vets to Ballarat Pet & Farm Vets, after reading some positive reviews. Dr Anna has been nothing less than sensational with her care and attention for my large and unruly dog. She always takes into account his personality and needs, and is very flexible about how we manage his care. Dr Anna and her wonderful vet nurses are willing to come up with new solutions and always fully explain the options for my dog's specific health issue. All the staff are polite, friendly and helpful. It is actually a pleasure to visit the vet instead of a chore! (I am not related to any of the staff.)

Fantastic experience: I took my little boy Hamish to see the vet. She was very kind and understanding as Hamish was very nervous. Kim at the front desk was extremely kind and efficient.

Fantastic experience: Calling the vet's after hours line in a panic is usually very frightening, however the calm & knowledgeable vet (Megan) was amazing & put us at ease.

Fantastic experience: By stroke of luck we were sent to Ballarat Farm and Pet Vet using a local after hours switch line. And for this we are grateful. Both Vets Jess and Anna were fantastic and the level of diagnostic care and treatment they gave our cat was life saving. The care for our cat was professional and experienced. Plus they were super supportive and kind with us humans who were distressed. Thank you all so much and we are so grateful to now call you our Vets.

Fantastic experience: We are not Pts of BPFV however we called our after hours number and presented to your clinic. Dr Kate was and is a champion. We took our kelpie out to Lake Burrumbeet for her first camping experience and we think developed Botulism, after she may have drank stagnated water... Marley was incredibly, incredibly sick and the communication and CARE given was outstanding. She even called to say she had another idea and turned her car around and went back to Marls. I recieved a text later on in the night, and then the phone call this morning to say Marley had made it through the night. Dr Kate, well done you are and asset to your field, and the clinic. Our gratitude always .. The Jenkins family. Ps- 6 year old Marley taken only hours prior to falling ill.

Fantastic experience: My dog was experiencing anxiety, on heart medication, unable to settle, unable to climb/jump. Play with other dog, possibly hurt self. A Saturday, I got into see vet straight away, full physical and total respect and soothing care given. Thanks, Kate, for your professionalism in looking after my dog and easing her symptoms.

Fantastic experience: Jess was a-mazing with our lame steer. Really calm and friendly, she had more problems finding things in a 'shared' not so organised van than with the cow in the cattle crush. She left us with clear instructions and meds (although supplies of consistent syringe sizes for 4 days were scant) and our steer seems to be on the mend

Negative experience: My Wife and I have been taking our Cats to BPFV for about 6-7 year and have always had excellent service and treatment and advice from all the Veterinarian’s. Included in the service is the receptionist(s). I had to visit BPFV on 22nd of April to request a change to a Script. The receptionist was typing at her station, didn’t look up to acknowledge that she’d saw me. After a few minutes another receptionist saw i wasn’t being attended to so she left her station to help me. I had to come back the next day to speak about the Script outcome and the same receptionist was working. She was on the phone, again she didn’t make any eye contact or acknowledge that I was there and she’d get to me when she could. Her conversation didn’t sound urgent, more so about products available from your business. I waited for 10 minutes and left. Customer Service 101, always acknowledge that you’ve seen a Customer. Your business provides a great Veterinary service, don’t be let down with poor front of house service. I hope you see this as positive feedback. Kind regards Rod

Fantastic experience: Fantastic veterans. Highly recommend Ballarat Pet Farm Vet. My rescue pooch had an ear infection & was missing fur because of a skin problem that hadn't been treated correctly. In less than 1 week, the ear infection was well on the way to clearing. weeks. The fur was growing back within 3 weeks. All thanks to the veteran for the correct directions on using the right treatment's required. 3 months later, there was no missing fur.

Fantastic experience: My senior bull arab injured her shoulder and was booked in at her regular vet two days later, but collapsed during my lunch break and could no longer stand. She was letting out awful noises and shaking. I was bawling my eyes out and rang my regular vet who advised they couldn’t assist, and went on to ring three other local vets who all said they can’t assist and to try getting painkillers off my regular vet. Going down my list I rang these guys and I cannot thank them enough. From the initial receptionist on the phone who immediately assisted and got us an appointment within thirty minutes to the lovely vet Jess who communicated everything to me along the way. Super easy to communicate with and communicated the cost the whole way through. Could not recommend these guys enough. Juno is doing great a few weeks later and back to herself

Fantastic experience: Visited tonight after hours when our elderly staffy girl declined in health rapidly late in the afternoon. Dr Anna is an exceptional vet. She articulated the potential diagnoses ahead and treatment options so perfectly and with empathy. Vets have a very difficult job and my heart goes out to them. This is a wonderful clinic and we appreciate the care and patience they provide. Wonderful place.

Fantastic experience: Not our regular vet, but we came in through the after hours vet program and unfortunately needed to have our (very old!) cat put down. The service was amazing! Prompt, kind, empathetic and they explained everything clearly to my 7yo without 'dumbing' it down. The professionalism was spot on, at all times costing was made clear and we were given all the time we needed to think things over. They were also connected in with a great service to take care of her remains which really helped. Based on our one experience, would recommend for compassionate pet care!

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting never going back again. Will tell everyone to stay clear of this vet Was told to desex my German Shepherd puppy at 7 months old because he was too protective of me, So i did so because i thought they knew whats best, He ended up being allergic to the antibiotics they gave me when i said something was wrong and brought him back in the next day they just told me to up the dosage of antibiotics and thats its normal what his doing. The next day Took him to another vet and they knew exactly what was wrong with him straight away as soon as they saw him but it was too late. He died afew hours after. I was left with a huge bill and no dog because the Vet had no idea.
