Fantastic experience: I brought my rabbit Udon in yesterday and had a great experience with Dr Harry. He took the time to explain Udon’s condition clearly and offered several treatment options that were practical and genuinely in Udon’s best interest. His advice felt very honest and thoughtful, and it was clear that he truly cares about the animals. As my partner couldn’t attend the appointment, I asked Dr Harry to email a summary of the consultation, treatment plan, and costs so we could discuss it together. He sent everything through promptly at 6:15pm the same evening, which I really appreciated. I’ll definitely be coming back to see Dr Harry and would highly recommend him.

Fantastic experience: We had to take our chicken, Gwen, to the Unusual Pet Vets for the first time when she was very unwell. We unfortunately had to put her down but the vet and the receptionist were so lovely and kind. We were allowed to have a room to sit and grieve with Gwen before we had to let her go, and being able to have that time made it a lot easier on us. Gwen was then wrapped up absolutely beautifully, ready to bury. Not too long after, we received a lovely hand written card and seeds to plant in Gwen’s memory from this vet clinic. All in all, the unusual pet vets made this awful experience so much more bearable, and I will absolutely recommend them to everyone. Thank you to the team!

Fantastic experience: I had the best experience with Unusual Pet Vet in Osborne Park. My bunny was recently spayed by Dr Lucinda and her team, and the whole process was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, Nurse Neisha welcomed us warmly. Nurse Hayley was truly amazing she explained everything clearly, and her care and gentleness put me at ease. Thanks to their attention, my bunny even started eating straight after surgery, which is quite rare! I really appreciated the text updates about how she was doing, the clear post-surgery instructions email is amazing and very clear! My bunny sent home with Critical Care, pain relief, and anti-inflammatory medication to support her recovery. Dr Lucinda, Nurse Hayley, and Nurse Neisha genuinely love animals, and it shows in the way they care. I’m truely grateful I found this clinic and highly recommend them to any rabbit owner.

Fantastic experience: Saw Dr Harry today with one of our family guinea pigs. He was absolutely lovely, very thorough, informative and reassuring. It gave me peace of mind and was well worth the consult fee for the generous amount of time he spent with us. Did not feel rushed in and out. Added bonus - mother was chuffed at the comment that I saw ‘Dr Harry’. Thankfully this Dr Harry knows what he is doing.

Positive experience: Sorry - its a long one - My rabbit presented to the UPV on the weekend for an emergency appointment. I'd spoken to them on the phone first and they said bring him in, when I got there they took him straight in and gave him emergency pain relief. The nurses were really nice and service super quick. I was told over the phone the cost of an emergency appointment and I was happy to proceed. So far so good. Then they took me into the consult room, but Ed was somewhere else and it was explained to me that he potentially has kidney disease? but would have to run tests and keep him in hospital on a drip for 3 days at a cost of $2.5k. There was also talk of euthanasia but im not sure when they would come into play as I was pretty upset by this stage. My rabbit is 9yrs old and I don't want to prolong someone life if they are already older. So I decline the treatment and asked for painkillers to take home and I would look after him myself. Anyway, 24hrs later he was fine. Eating, drinking, pooing etc all normally. The things that helped was immediate pain relief and feeding him critical care pretty much constantly. Long story short, I know it's not simple as if he did have kidney disease and I took him home and he died I would have been ropable. But it would have been nice if their first solution for treatment was offering home treatment, same as if you have a kid thats sick, you get some Panadol and give them chicken soup and nurse them back to health before you go to ED. Anyway, my rabbit is tripping to trip me up, eating my garden and pooing in my bed like normal so it's all ok and I only spent $600. Winning!

She was so kind when it was time to put one of my girls down and made time for us on the weekend despite being very busy. They allowed me to spend time with my girl before she crossed the rainbow bridge and were so caring. Thank you so much for what you do.

Negative experience: Uncaring business that only cares about your money not your pet. For reference, I declined to “hospitalise” my bird because this meant he would have been left alone over night and although they offer (rip off) emergency appointments, these appointments offer no aid, they cannot do any blood tests on weekend and they didn’t even offer to check his crop. So basically they charge you a massive appointment fee with abolsultely no checks what so ever or any ability to because they lack any equipment on site. They take your money then tell you oh yeah can’t do anything on weekends sorry. But here please pay up for…. NOTHING. They did NOTHING. They couldn’t do ANYTHING because they lack any ability to. It’s misleading and cruel. Believe me, I went to a more professional vet and I got some more time out of my bird. The other vet even sent me a sorry card for my loss. Unusual pet vet continue to argue with me even with my bird already being dead so…. I don’t know what they’re trying to gain because my bird is dead no more money for you guys now…. If you read it carefully they made the assumption my birds death was my fault for not coming back the next day… he actually lived a little longer from another vets help so thanks for trying to fold the blame elsewhere. Very kind. Thanks for re surfacing my grief. Completely heartless company. Read other reviews on unusual pet vet or ask the bird community. No one reccomends them if they want their pet to live. Heartbreaking.

Fantastic experience: The vet was so lovely and compassionate in helping my little guy cross the rainbow bridge today. All the other staff that came to help and console me were so caring and allowed me to take my time in signing forms and then saying goodbye. They made sure to go over all options and explained everything so thoroughly so I could make an informed decision. Positive experience: Normally I received fantastic service. Today I took my budgie for an expensive and dangerous blood test. The vet didn't even bother to introduce herself to me at all. Not before procedure or after. The receptionist took the bird to the back. I am disappointed about it. I thought it's common courtesy to meet the treating vet FIRST.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend this vet practice enough. They took my beautiful bunny boy in as an emergency on Saturday morning and cared for him greatly. Although after much trying my little man didn’t make it - I will forever be so grateful with how all the staff helped him and supported me and my family through the tough decisions we had to make. When my little guy took his last breath, they took prints of his splooshy nose for us and wrapped him lovingly in a calico wrap for us to take him to his final resting place. I am beyond grateful for the UPV’s caring staff. Thank you

Negative experience: I would love to see an Unusual Pets Vet located closer to Butler/Clarkson area. I live in Yanchep and I had an emergency with my bird but there were NO Aviarian vets available around my area. I lost my bird trying to get some help for her

Negative experience: Following amputation of my guinea pig's toe, I was told the follow up appointment to check on the toe would be free. Instead they charged me 50 dollars for rebandaging. When I queried it they said the consultation was free but the bandage was 50 dollars. The bandage was no bigger that a band aid. I felt this was misleading and expensive for a bandage!

Fantastic experience: A huge relief as a rabbit owner to have a vet who’s familiar with less than common pets, open 7 days a week. Everyone I’ve dealt with there have been so friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable and the website makes it really to book it for an appointment.

Fantastic experience: Truly caring staff who provide wonderful care at the saddest of times

Negative experience: i don’t want to be mean but i brought my stimsons python, calliope here twice for swelling to her head. The first time they said it was a lymphatic nerve injury and gave me anti-inflammatory injections (they charge $37 for 5 5mg/mL meloxicam). the second time they told me they thought there could be a gas build up, not fluid and tried to get me to do an x-ray and GI gas imaging procedure to which they wanted to put her under general anaesthesia and keep her overnight, which they quoted me $824 for (and anaesthesia is so dangerous for tiny animals). we went to wattle grove veterinary hospital for a second opinion, the vet hadn’t even held her and told me what she thought it was, one look and she ended up being right in that it was a jaw displacement, she also did the examination with me in the room, talked me through every hypothesis the other vet had and explained why it could or couldn’t be x y or z and did the x-ray the same day, the unusual pet vet would barely answer my questions, it was ‘we’d have to do the procedure to see more’ or ‘it’s hard to say’. i tried to email once we got home to ask a question and the response was to book another consultation. wattle grove charged me $75 for the same imaging procedure unusual pet vet wanted to do for $824, then gave me three weeks of the same 5mg/ml meloxicam injections for $29. i don’t say this to bash the veterinary staff at the unusual pet vet but i’ve got a huge issue with what they charge and i think they do it because they’re banking on people with unconventional pets not having any other choice. even their standard consultation is $145, that’s almost what i paid elsewhere for a consultation and my snake’s entire treatment plan. i am grateful to the veterinary doctors for seeing me for an emergency appointment and giving me their time, the nurses i interacted with were good but i don’t recommend going here if you can get in somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: I have just taken on board an abandoned rabbit and her 9 week old daughter. The Mum has issues with her eyes and I have decided to have Thr Unusual Pet Vets in Osborne Park assist with this. My vet has been amazing and really cares about my girls. She is sensitive to my lack of finances and sent me instructions on how much of each medication I have to administer each day. (8 lots!). My last visit to the vet was cut short due to a pet emergency. The vet said to send her all my queries and she would reply back to me. I feel confident in my vet and that Crumpet will receive the best of care.

Positive experience: Caring and kind staff. Prices for services is ridiculous my daughter had to pay after pay almost a $1000. Also l question if all those tests where necessary My daughter is very upset and feels ripped off.

Fantastic experience: I had Dr Sam Loughridge to treat my rabbit. He is natural animal person as my rabbit went up to him straight away. He did a great job explaining the issue and was very gentle and understanding with my pet. I find some vets to be a bit rough / cold but Sam is exceptional with animals. I fully recommend Sam to anyone with rabbits and probably all other small animals. On the downside the appointment was 20m late and I felt the fees were a little on the higher side ( as an example the 24hr pet vet was cheaper for a consult at 2am in the morning ) but I guess you also get what you pay for, the 24hr vet didn't solve the issue or have the ability to flush tear ducts. So overall if you want an exceptional vet for unusual animals to solve complex medical issues this is the best place I have found in Perth.

I opted for a at home burial. The shroud they wrapped her in was simply beautiful. They even made some little ink paw prints of her. This is my first time having to personally deal with a vet appointment to help a animal pass the rainbow bridge. The comfort the staff provided will stay with me forever. Thankyou.

Fantastic experience: I took my bun here for the first time last week when I became concerned by his strange behavior. I called UPV and they booked me in immediately for an emergency visit and were waiting on standby, where he was whisked away upon arrival. The vet returned after assessing him and explained the situation clearly, gave us our options, told us exactly the prices and showed us a clear breakdown of costs, and answered any questions we had. As our funds are extremely limited the vet offered us ways to cut the costs down a bit while still providing optimal care. Our boy had to stay overnight as a critical patient and was watched 24hrs by a nurse so he was always in good hands. He was treated wonderfully and we are so happy that he recovered and is back to his old self. UPV were there to answer any questions when we took him home, and even slipped in a quick check up the following day. They provided us with everything we would need for going home plus a written report on his stay and how to care for him in the following days. We definitely have UPV to thank for our boy being with us. The swift, expert care he received saved his life. The clinic is clean and comfortable, with several exam rooms. There’s lots of parking just out front. They also sell various things for small animals (mostly the cuddly kinds) such as beds, toys, and treats. I’ll definitely be going back here in the future, but hopefully not in an emergency again!

Fantastic experience: I came in with my very ill rat, Einstein, who unfortunately passed away. The vet took him in immediately and began stabilising him, and gave me the options. I decided euthanasia was the best thing to do in his condition. The vets and nurses were so supportive, understanding and patient. They gave me time with him and even took his little paw prints. They were very sympathetic and gave me a lot of time. I even paid much less than I expected to. Today I unexpectedly received a letter in the mail from them. It is a handwritten card with a beautiful photo of a rat on the front and a packet of Everlasting Daisy seeds that I will be planting over Einstein’s little burial spot. This is the most thoughtful thing I have ever gotten and I am so grateful for the amazing staff at UPV. Thank you so much for all you do, I appreciate you guys ❤️

Fantastic experience: Thank you so much UPV Osbourne park! My poor little bun Twitchy was so ill on Friday morning when I took him in, I really thought he wasn’t going to make it. With GI status and an enlarged kidney which was failing it didn’t look good for him. Vet Kelly was amazing!!! She was so compassionate, informative and did everything she could to support my little man and my budget. Yes this is an expensive place! But who can put a price on their beloved pet who is family! It was worth every cent and could have been a lot more expensive if it wasn’t for Kelly really looking at what was needed and the hole picture. Originally it looked like his kidney would be removed but Kelly wanted to give supportive care and review again at the end of the day to see if there was any improvement before making the decision as he was so Sick and the procedure would be risky. After 2 days and one night of supportive care twitchy got to come home with me as his kidney has reduced nearly back to normal size! He is bouncing around like his happy self again after the amazing support he was given at UPV. Kelly really listened to me and went through every and best options for my little man to have a fighting chance. Thank you to everyone there and especially Kelly as I was a mess and the support you provided me was exceptional! I have complete trust in this vet and could not recommend her more highly!

Fantastic experience: The Unusual Pet Vets provided great care for our ratties. They were especially kind when it was time to get our last rat put to sleep, taking extra time and care to explain the proceedure to us, and ensuring that our animal was as comfortable as possible. They even took the time to make a little print of her paws Can't recommend them highly enough for end of life care for small or unusual creatures. For some proceedures and medications, they are a little more expensive that other vets - I've always been happy to pay a bit extra due to the quality of their service. However, they are always very transparent about costs.

Negative experience: The difference in helpfulness between here and UPV Murdoch is incredible. Murdoch actually want to help you and they’re fair & reasonable. UPV Osbourne Park have always got a no-can-do attitude. Would rather drive an extra 40 minutes to Murdoch then visit Osbourne Park.
