Fantastic experience: Cant recommend The Unusual Pet Vets in Murdoch highly enough. Very lovely, friendly, helpful staff. Dr Luke was very thorough, attentive and professional. I was updated regularly on my pet's condition and comfort. Results were prompt and communicated regularly also. Thank you to each and every staff member for looking after our much loved pet.

Fantastic experience: Dr Holly looked after my pet budgie and she was fantastic! I have been to the Unusual Pet Vets for many years with my pet budgies, and they have always given thorough, top notch care to my pets. Even though I tried other vets, I felt that the vets at Unusual Pet Vets just gave higher quality care. I have seen many vets at UPV but Dr Holly has been the best by far. She gave so much love, comfort, and attention to my budgie, not wanting to traumatise him at the vet, but allowing him to warm up to her as best as possible before commencing the consultation. She was very thorough, asked lots of detailed questions, and I’m really thankful for her care. Would highly recommend!

They assisted me through so much when it came to the care of my little lovebird and there was never a time I felt lost or worried thanks to them and their care. Even through the toughest times, the Unusual Pet Vets made everything so easy and comforting and I cannot thank them enough.

Fantastic experience: This is The Place to go for your "unusual" pet. Every team member of UPV were so caring and friendly, and they made the time for our urgent visit. We met Luke the vet this time and he's our new favourite chook doctor. He was incredibly patient and gentle with our nervous chicken, gave us estimates of suggested treatments and gave us no pressure to undertake more treatment than we were comfortable with.

Fantastic experience: I am limited on my selection for vets because I have an exotic pet but I wouldn’t pick any other practice even if I had the option. The Murdoch location is comfy and clean and the veterinarians are knowledgeable and friendly. I can often get an appointment the next day or sometimes the same day because they don’t see cats or dogs. They’re fantastic and I highly recommend visiting them if you have an exotic pet.

Fantastic experience: Super knowledgeable staff that fill me with confidence that my birdie is getting the best care. I've tried other very reputable avian vets in Perth and they are not as thorough with their check ups which have led to health complications with my other late bird

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak more highly of the wonderful veterinarians and vet nurses at UPV Murdoch. Recently our Guinea pig Donut required surgery to have an enormous cancer/tumour removed. Dr. Luke found the life threatening tumour initially and conducted a successful operation. Vet nurse Sita is who we mainly dealt with post-op following a scare we had the following day, calmly answered my barrage of questions and anxieties regarding Donut’s condition so calmly and kindly - immediately putting me at ease. We have had interactions with the other veterinarians and nurses too in the past, and I can confidently say every single one of them have been patient, compassionate and incredibly dedicated to our little critters. Your animals will be in great care at UPV Murdoch ❤️

Fantastic experience: We love the Unusual Vet , they are always warm and welcoming. They make us feel like our bunny Lola is as important to them as she is to us . In our experience they only want to help our little girl have a comfortable life and they try to keep cost down when possible. We couldn’t recommend DR Briony Jones enough.

Fantastic experience: We brought in our lizard for surgery, and although she sadly didn’t make it, the care we received was excellent. From the start, the vet was amazing. We were expecting a full recovery, and they provided us with detailed after care advice and support. Last week we received a small imprint of our lizard’s foot in the mail. It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture during a really hard time. Thank you to the team for the compassion you showed us and our pet.

Fantastic experience: Chelsea and Doctor Luke have been nothing but amazing and helpful. We live over an hour away from Murdoch Unusual Pet Vet but the comfort, assistance and reassurance provided on the phone made the commute an easy decision. On arrival we were warmly greeted as were our Macaws. Dr Luke took his time in chatting and getting to know us and the birds. Even bringing resident Jeffrey (macaw) out to see us after our appt. I cannot rate these guys highly enough, we will be bringing our flock here in the future. Thankyou

Fantastic experience: They were amazing with fixing Indie’s broken leg. Walking in I was quite emotional not knowing if he would have to be put down or have amputation done but they were so nice, caring and compassionate. Had 100% trust with Indie in their care. Even with the complications of my stubborn boy trying to do his own adjustments on his leg, it has healed well and he has no issues using his leg, putting weight on it, and picking up fruit with his leg. The job they do is incredible, in awe of them being able to fix this. Couldn’t thank this vet team enough for saving Indie’s leg (and his life, as there’s no way he could’ve lived without vet intervention). Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me more years with him ❤️

Fantastic experience: I went to take my guinea pig, Piggie Smalls in for a check up as he had an abcess near his tooth. The amount of care and affection that was taken was incredible by the staff. Sita took the extra time to ensure he was comfortable and was attentive towards him.

Negative experience: I brought my corella into your Murdoch practice on Friday 30th August as he was vomiting after drinking some milk. I believe you stressed him out so much that within 24hrs he died I should have kept him home and let him get it out of his system and I think he would have been ok. Now he's gone after 40years with me and im devastated. I think that most of the time you make matter worse so you can charge exorbitant fees.

Fantastic experience: Dr Briony Jones was absolutely amazing! The UPV treated my cockatiel (Latte) for a prolapse. They allowed me to come in as an emergency and they gave her pain meds, fluids and sorted out her prolapse. Dr Briony kept me in the loop with every step they took with Latte and provided thorough detail and even broke down cost for me. I was expecting prices to be way more than what they were. They were a tad high, but very reasonable. Dr Briony and the whole team were absolutely lovely and treated Latte and myself beautifully. I felt very comfortable having my birds care in their hands. I 100% recommend UPV and will definitely take my birds back for future check ups and microchipping.

Negative experience: You are still a bunch of bullies and Im never going to forget my negative experience with you.. And everyone else. I have had constant social negative experiences from mostly everyone in my life, including businesses like this one and I have trauma from it all and you dont care about my feelings and it hurts so bad. I have been very close to being suicidal. I dont want to live if this is how people treat others. And especially with me, I havent had much positives with social interaction. You might not understand it with people as much as with animals but people can suffer a great deal of pain from too much bad experiences in ones life.. You should not have treated us like that and told us never to come back again and refused treatment and you also didnt care that I walked all the way there without having any water. I am autistic, not a robot and my emotions are extremely heigtened. Plus I have rejection sensitive dysphoria but again you dont care which leads you to being bullies when people like me get treated like I did something wrong.. You have no idea what I have been through anc continue to go through on a regular basis. Dont be surprised if I do kill myself one day.. I didn't do any form of abuse with the staff verbally or written so why am I banned? I was upset because you treated me unfairly..

Thank you for your attention to detail, the prep for burial ( despite the fact it is a prey animal ) and the condolence card in our letter box the week after. You’ve demonstrated how little things make a world of difference for my 12 year old as she processed the loss in a positive way. ❤️

Positive experience: Friendly and professional vet. Consult charge was very reasonable given the expertise available. Quote provided for treatment was very pricey, e.g. $400+ for a guinea pig x-ray not including lots of other things needed (total would have been in range of $2K). I'm sure if it was a priceless pet then the treatment and care would have been impeccable.

Negative experience: Just a bit rude I definitely recommend checking that and try to speak kinder to people as you never know what they are going through. Will help with business a lot Edit: I just now saw your reply to my review and am very disappointed to say the least. None of the points you have made related to the fact that customer service is a thing. And that being unbelievably rude and downright unprofessional is not acceptable behaviour, as this is where I draw my line. I’m disappointed that this was your response and am now more upset and saddened by your lack of respect and understanding. There are plenty of reviews saying the EXACT same thing I said above. I don’t know if your management has changed and I now frankly don’t care. Be better.

Fantastic experience: I brought my fur baby Theodore to the unusual vet clinic in Murdoch as I was concerned about his wellbeing. Unfortunately he was very unwell and it was time for him to be put to rest and out of pain. It was a very hard day but the team at unusual pets were very compassionate and supportive. It was a day I had been dreading but I couldn’t have asked for a better team to look after my baby in his final moments. I really appreciate the support and follow up card sent in the mail.

Fantastic experience: Dr Jones and Dr Arnell have been amazing over the past couple days with my Silkies. Unfortunately I lost 2 of my hens due to disease but they picked it up easy with my remaining 2 hens! The staff are so kind and caring towards myself and my silkie girls! Fantastic experience: Great vet

Negative experience: I came to know this vet when I was told most vets don't take rabbits and was told to go here. Bringing my first sick rabbit there, I was told they didn't know what was wrong unless they did extensive tests, my rabbit died there and then. Over two weeks followed many other rabbits one of which I rushed there just before they opened like 10 minutes to opening where they charged me over $300 just because they opened 10 minutes early, my rabbit again died. Only to say again they don't know what it is unless they do test etc and possibly blaming my trees in the garden which my rabbits lived for years in and never had problems. 16 rabbits died over 2 Weeks because not one vet could say to me isolate each rabbit from each other immediately and quarantine for a few weeks. My rabbits had the horribly man made Calici virus which no doubt the vets knew. So when your rabbit has no symptoms until 1 hour before they start convoluting do quarantine your bunnies from each other because you might just save some of their lives. Don't waist money on vaccines as some of my rabbits were vaccinated but still died. I would never go back to this vet who made me feel like I didn't care about my rabbits everytime I brought one in. Just a money hungry vet!

Fantastic experience: The level of care and professionalism of all the staff was exceptional. Regular updates on our pets health... During the 5 days of hospitalisation I always knew our pet was getting the best possible care.

Negative experience: Our two budgies were mauled by a rat and my wife could not get in to emergency at our two local vets. She drove from Alexander Heights to this place in Murdoch. Syd had his leg torn off and was euthanised and John Snow was covered in blood but had a minor wound so was given anti biotics. For this my wife was charged $500. There was a $250 emergency consultation fee. I called them up telling them this was my wifes whole weeks earnigs and we are in a financial bind at the moment and could they waver the $250 fee....."No sorry. your wife knew the fee before poceeding" Do not go there unless you have deep pockets. ......Yeah..... Thanks for the reply but it still remains that you are seriously expensive and money comes first obviously .... so people need to be aware.

Negative experience: Positive: I was impressed on cost of visit and how quickly they could get my rabbit in After knowing my rabbits situation I knew I needed Perth only (3 hours drive there) to get there be told it’s (out of our budget(3k budget))to run tests I didn’t want, vet and I agreed to a new quote that would actually fix the issue allowing my rabbit to survive, then moved the bench mark every time we hit the target, re asking for the same stuff as before. Not only that (this bit is worse) we need pain killers stronger then meloxicam, the vet “got distracted” (then make sure next time) and I ended up with a empty bottle, again I live 3 hours away and it’s a compound item, which takes about a week for anyone to make( within 200km of me, I tried) this was all they could say, their salutation was oh just wait 5 days for the post (we used it once before having to put him to sleep) My rabbit is now dead because of this ever changing bench mark, honestly believe they just couldn’t be bothered and just wanted money

Fantastic experience: Efficient and reliable. After presenting with an emergency at other 2 other vets first thing on Monday morning who both fluffed around (one even after I made it very clear I thought it was worse than it looked with a very out of sorts bunny deteriorating fast, kept us waiting half an hour in the waiting room before telling us they couldn't fit us in, another who took extensive contact details by phone, then suggested we come down to be assessed by a vet nurse and the vet consult would probably be by telehealth at the same price but later in the morning!! Ffs ) The receptionist/nurse here was amazing. Told to come straight in, we were triage within a reasonable time and even though it was the worst news, I highly recommend these vets. Maybe if we had known more signs earlier and known to come here, we would still have our much loved bunny friend. We are heartbroken, but Thankyou for doing all you could.

Negative experience: Used to be great towards us over the years, helping our pets and giving compassionate words after losing some pets. Unfortunately that's all cone to an end as the staff have joined a group we are in just to spy on our posts and misjudging those posts as saying negative things about them. They were just posts asking for advice as that's what the group is for.. This was the first breach of trust. Because of their misjudgement they have banned us from doing anything at all with UPV which has been very unfair. I am autistic and very sensitive especially when it comes to unfair situations. I have tried numerous times to say how upset and sensitive I am, showing them information that autistic people are generally really sensitive but they didn't give any thought or compassion to what I was saying and just blocked me... Today I even left home upset after having a meltdown and walked in the heat to the train station then again to the vets to try to talk to them in person but I was told toleave and at that point I was feeling sick, dehydrated and very upset but they still didn't show any compassion and just ignored me while I was crying. They didn't even call my mum and she was worried about me, not knowing where I've gone. This vet and its staff are bullies and they aren't accepting or compassionate to people who are neurodiverse as I've experienced. There is still one vet I do respect within the UPV though and that is Lucinda as she hasn't ever been mean to me.

Fantastic experience: Super satisfied with the customer service and attention to detail. The UPV's took first-rate care of my birds, and I found their prices to be very reasonable under the circumstances. It was well worth the 600 km round trip to access specialist care for my very unwell parrot. I thoroughly recommend this veterinary practice to anyone with an 'exotic or unusual ' pet. Thank you to Dr's Tara and Luke and the clinic staff for successfully diagnosing and treating Kandi.

Fantastic experience: UPV have always been incredibly helpful to me with my reptiles, fish and injured wildlife. My recent experience with Dr. Tara was above and beyond what I deserved as a painful vetmed colleague struggling with my own grief as a client. Nevertheless, she was informative, patient, understanding and very generous with her own time, even offering to stay back after her consults so that I’d not have to go through euthanasia of my pet alone. I’ll always be grateful to the past and present UPV Murdoch teams and will be using them for many years to come.

Fantastic experience: Unfortunately It was a sad couple of visits to the vet, as my son had to put down his pet bird. The staff at the vets was fantastic. Tried everything they could to turn her around but in the end there was nothing to be done. The compassion and care shown by these guys really proves that they are animal people through and through. The after care and check up on my son was also a nice surprise and appreciated. Highly recommend these guys to anyone.

Fantastic experience: During a very sad, horrible situation that no fur mum ever wants to go through, the Unusual Pet Vets staff did so well, they definitely made this painful time a lot easier to handle, the genuine care and love throughout the place is definitely sensed and the personal touches with every aspect of a fur baby dying was noticed, from the seeds, personalised card, little paw prints to even the type of bag with a flower that is handed to you in the end. All of it was appreciated and helped me through this process, so thank you very much. My first experience with the UPV was terrible, and it made me hesitant to ever go back, but this second time, it has completely made up for it. Thank you again, everyone there

Fantastic experience: On Friday morning I brought my 1 year old bunny, Wobbles into the Murdoch clinic. She was in very very poor condition. I had been to the emergency vet the night before with her and they did what they could to get her through to the next morning but said she likely would not make it and I have to prepare myself for the worst. Upon consultation at UPV with Dr Luke he ran me through a few possibilities and procedures, however he also told me that the chances of her making it through we low as she had a very progressed infection and she was not in good shape. Dr Luke and the nurses spent the day and night giving endless support and care to Wobbles and kept me very well updated along the way. The next morning she was getting better however still not in great shape. Dr Brandon took over and again offered her around the clock care the whole day and night. Today (Sunday) she has returned home pretty much to her normal self thanks to the love, care and huge heart in what they do at the UPV.

Fantastic experience: Had to come twice a week for a few weeks for my bunny Buster, the vet nurses were great and sorted his eye out. Were able to help when my regular vet couldn't; definitely will be my first stop next time any rabbit problems come up. Buster is a happy boy now. :)

All of our questions were answered and everything was explained to us. We will always take our animals here whenever they need anything.
