Swan Veterinary Hospital has been an integral part of our local community for many years. In that time, we have helped thousands of people and their pets. We run by appointment and are open Mon - Sat. We are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. We also cater to walk-ins, but please note that appointments and emergencies take priority. Negative experience: Unsure how Dr Charlotte is allowed to work as a vet given incompetence. Couldn’t be more disappointed in the care that our dog received. On the 20/01/2026, our 14 year old Labrador, Molly was showing neuro signs (e.g. disorientation, back and front legs collapsing when walking, physical body ticks) when we woke up in the morning around 6:30am and these quickly escalated until 9:30am to Molly not being able to walk at all, incontinence, increased work of breath ++, escalated full physical body ticks, further disorientation, ? Hearing and vision loss - would not respond respond to us at all. It was a very scary time and we booked Molly in at swan Veterinary Hospital for their earliest appointment at 9am. We took Molly in and she was seen by Vet, Dr Charlotte - my mum provided context that she had given both of our labradors worming medication the night before and brought the packaging with her from the worming medication. My mum offered for Dr Charlotte to look at the worming packing in case it had anything to do with Molly’s symptoms, but Dr Charlotte declined advising that Molly could have consumed too many worming medications and still be fine. Dr Charlotte diagnosed Molly with likely having a stroke (which made sense to us at the time), which she discouraged any further brain imaging for (MRI brain) given Molly’s age (14 year old Labrador), and advised that we should consider making Molly comfortable and putting her down. My mum and sister asked if they could at least have bloods taken for Molly but Dr Charlotte advised that this wouldn’t help with anything so politely declined. Dr Charlotte put a blood catheter in one of Molly’s front legs and offered that we could have Molly put down at Swan Veterinary Hospital or at home - as a family, we decided to make Molly comfortable at home and organised a home vet to put her down. We all came home and were sitting together as a family in what we thought we’re Mollys last hours of life. 45 minutes before the vet was scheduled to come to our family home to put down Molly, our other Labrador Baci (6 years old) started showing similar symptoms to what Molly was displaying earlier in the morning. We made the decision to take both dogs to Cannington Veterinary Hospital where they advised that the symptoms both dogs were showing were in fact related to the worming medication that my mum had given them the night before - my mum (without realising) had accidentally put the worming gel that should go on the back of a dogs neck, in their food. Canning on Veterinary Hospital kept our Labrador, Molly for 12 hours to give her IV hydration and antibiotics - we picked molly up later that night and she slowly returned back to her normal self and she is still alive and well today thanks to Cannington Veterinary Hospital. We are absolutely gobsmacked that Dr Charlotte misdiagnosed what Molly presented to Swan Veterinary Hospital with and we were 45 minutes from having Molly put down, hadn’t our other Labrador, Baci started showing similar neuro symptoms. My mum has called Swan Veterinary Hospital to make them aware of the matter to which they offered a full refund from services provided by Dr Charlotte 20/01/2026. Safe to say we won’t be returning to Swan Veterinary Hospital.

Fantastic experience: When our Marley got cancer and the staff was so wonderful to Marley and our family. And now we have Luna who my mum took cause my son passing 4years and mum couldn't part with her. She looks after mum, protective of her. Luna has been there for our family, she’s seems to understand that we are struggling without my son and we want to do everything to keep her safe, loved, we can’t lose her, she’s means everything to mum and I.

Negative experience: We’ve been taking our dog and cat to Swan Veterinary Hospital for the last 7-8 years…We’ve been lucky to not have any stressful situations with our pets just general checks, vaccines etc. During this time our pets have been seen by at least 6 different vets, all except one has been outstanding. Over the last 2 years (roughly the last 6 visits) we’ve noticed a massive decline in the quality of reception staff, most of these creatures need a brush up on very basic customer service skills. Mixing reception staff with no people skills with people who are stressed due to their pets being sick or injured is a combustable mix, But some of the behaviour we’ve witnessed from reception is just flat out horrible. Gaslighting Narcism at its finest. We are now joining a number of clients who have left this clinic purely based on the toxic culture that has been allowed to flourish at the reception desk regardless of it being busy or not over the last couple of years.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful staff and Vets, very caring and they looked after our cat so very well. We did not mind the long wait as all others who attended needed assistance with their pets. All animals were treated with loving care, thank you for your expertise and true love for animals. Loved the two little kittens who entertained us, whilst they were waiting to be adopted, they certainly helped pass the time with a lot of giggles.

Negative experience: The queue for reception is most chaotic. There is absolutely no system. There should be one line for checking in. A second line on one side for accounts and billing out. People are mostly good knowing who's been in the Q first, but the staff alwAys seems lost and has to look around to ask "who's next"! Furthermore, staff needs to be trained to acknowledge the next person in queue, whether she's getting meds, typing notes, etc... I've also noticed a change in practice approach to animal care. The vets seem very proactive in promoting ultrasounds. Quotes are getting very expensive too.

Negative experience: This isn’t my usual vet but I had an emergency situation today and couldn’t get into my vet. I brought my 11 month ragdoll in and she had very bad pain when being picked up and wouldn’t not move from a crouched position, she also had poo stuck all in her fur. she’s had constipation and diarrhoea problems before and all went perfectly fine with the vet who initially checked her over but once we left the vet never called us to let us know anything and when we did arrive 2.5 hours later they just gave us our cat no explanation as to what’s happening or if she had eaten or gone to the toilet. The receptionist just told us to give her pain meds and sent us home. It Wasn’t really professional at all and I did not feel a caring bone in any of the receptionist working today. Will be booking with my usual vet asap! Ps Go to mundaring vet hospital they are amazing!

Fantastic experience: I’m overly nervous and a worry wart when it comes to my pets getting sick. My cat is very nervous so when she fell ill, I had two trips in two days to get new meds and pain killers. Everyone was very understanding and caring. It’s an inviting surgery with lovely people working with difficult situations and scenarios everyday. I’ll be happy to take my cat back here for her regular checkups and immunisations.

Fantastic experience: Amazing vet. So understanding, helpful and go above and beyond. Had to send our sick dog to doggies heaven. Extremely sad time for us and they were so passionate. And let us grief in the room for as long as we needed. I went to another vet and when I was grieving they kicked me out after 30 minutes ill never go back there. Hence why we go to Swan Vet. The staff there enjoy what they do and care for your animals. Its not just a job and money. Thank you for giving us as mich time as we needed in the room to grief and the little hanging door handle was cute. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Excellent Vet Care with this Clinic overall and the Veterinarians are all amazing. Especially Dr Catherine who is very thorough and pays attention to detail. Even though I have to drive quite far to see them and sometime the waiting times can be long, their service and attention to my pet is beyond satisfactory ! They have no hidden fees, provide follow up consults for 50% of the normal cost and also give you options for more cost effective treatments and solutions to your pet's health. The mark-up they put on the medicine is very reasonable. You can talk to a Vet if required. They will always find a solution and a time for the Vet to call you back if they cannot talk to you immediately. They saved my cat with excellent surgery and aftercare. I cannot praise the Vet's, the Vet Nurses, the Clinic and the Practice Manager enough. THANK YOU Swan Veterinary Hospital. Malibu and my family are very grateful to you and will always recommend you. You are AMAZING !

Fantastic experience: The staff were amazing when I took my cat there . They gave me a quiet place to say goodbye. The thing that comforted me the most was a lit candle and a sign saying someone is saying goodbye to their pet so please be considerate and talk quietly. I would recommend this vet 100%.

Fantastic experience: Thank you for making time for us today to have our little cats stictures removed after another local vet denied we had a booking then told us to leave unless we paid $110. Swan vets saw us straight away and were so kind and careful with our new little cat and charged us nothing. I now know who our new local vet will be after just moving to the area. Our little cat was a rescue from the cat haven and were told it would be free to have the stictures removed at our local vet, the first vet said $110. Thank goodness for lovely people like Swan vets who seem to really care more about animals than the $$$s they can make.

Negative experience: I’m incredibly disappointed and upset with Swan Veterinary Hospital. I took my cat there because his eyes had been dilated for a few days. The vet examined him but couldn’t determine the cause. We were told they couldn’t perform the air test on his eyes because they had run out of the necessary supplies. The vet advised that he needed to see an eye specialist, explaining that if his eyes stayed dilated for too long, it could cause lasting damage. She told me he needed to be seen within a few days to a week. We left the clinic, expecting the referral to be processed. When I called the specialist to check, I was informed they had received the referral, but it was far too brief - just one sentence. Because the referral didn’t specify that my cat needed to be seen urgently (within a few days to a week), they couldn’t offer any appointments before the 31st of March. This was incredibly frustrating, as I had been told by Swan Veterinary that it was important for him to be seen soon to avoid permanent damage. I called Swan Veterinary again, explaining that the referral needed to specify the urgency. It wasn’t the medical history that needed updating, but rather the timeframe for when he should be seen. I was then told the vet who examined my cat wasn’t available until next week to update the referral. If I wanted to get him seen sooner, I’d have to bring him back to see a different vet and pay another consultation fee. I was shocked! While I understand the referral was a mistake, it was a mistake made by the vet, not by me. I do understand that things can get busy, and I appreciate the receptionist’s efforts to help. We both acknowledged how bad the situation was, especially when I was being asked to pay again for something that should have been handled correctly in the first place. I requested that the issue be escalated. After some back-and-forth, I was told a message had been left for the vet who saw us the day before to update the referral notes. However, I was also told the vet had deemed my cat’s case “not urgent.” This contradicted what I had been told at the clinic, with my partner present, when the vet said my cat needed to be seen within a few days to avoid permanent damage. At this point, all trust I had in this clinic disappeared. I had to make an appointment at another clinic and pay again. The new clinic completed a proper referral, and my cat now has a specialist appointment in a couple of days. The most shocking part is that my cat has actually become blind. How could the Swan Vet have missed that? The other clinic picked up on it right away. As pet owners, we knew something wasn’t right, which is why we brought him to the vet. However, we’re not trained to recognise specific symptoms. The vet, on the other hand, is a professional with the knowledge and expertise to assess his condition. It’s truly astonishing that his blindness went unnoticed. We are still in shock at being asked to pay again because the referral wasn’t done correctly. Then, the vet claimed it wasn’t urgent, despite having previously told us it was. Being asked to bring him back and pay again for a new referral only deepened my disbelief at how poorly this entire situation was handled.

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank all the ladies that worked on the 29/01/2025. We came in with our beloved Rottweiler only to be treated with the utmost respect and even better customer service. The ladies on the day examined and put our boy as priority. The Vet thoroughly explained our boys condition and the best treatment. Unfortunately our boy couldn’t be saved. Negative experience: Sat there for over a hour even after telling them i needed to leave by a certain time the whole time i sat there with my dog who has a ear infection and cant put weight through his leg they seen 1 animal plus mainy more that walked in and went straight through needless to say my dog Didnt get seen this is not the first time when i told them i needed to leave due to work they offered me a appointment in 2 days even after telling them i would not be back until next week all they seem to care about is money

We also offer booked appointments for clients that are pressed for time. Unfortunately you chose to use our highly popular walk in service, which can have long waiting times. Fantastic experience: The best vet. Walk ins + pre-booked appointments available. All the staff are incredible, knowledgeable and kind - from the vets to the nurses to the front desk. Check ups are thorough and I know my fur babies are in good hands always. I'm incredibly grateful to the team. Swan Vet has been my go to for the last 10-15yrs and my partners family for even longer. Fantastic experience: We’ve used Swan Vets for the last 10 years for our beloved Harley. They have operated on many cancers over the years, and each time they charged us very reasonably. Yesterday, we had to put him to sleep, and the vet was so compassionate and empathetic throughout the whole process, and explained how everything worked. She gave us time to say a proper goodbye.

Fantastic experience: I have been here a few times. Today the service from the vet and admin staff was great. Although they are a busy, older vet practice they remain affordable with good service. In the past when I got multiple quotes for an operation for my dog, they were the cheapest and most professional option and provided great care. Today I was thankful for their walk-in service as I wanted an immediate appointment for my dog. Their wait room can be very packed with pets and people so keep this in mind if your pet is anxious or reactive. There are some areas to wait outside. They had plenty of free parking and a ramp to access the entry. There was a cat available for adoption on display in the waiting area which may be distracting to some dogs.

Negative experience: Revolting service and really poor vet standards. Save yourself a lot of pain, agony for your pet, as well as time and money by going to a good vet. When I did that the new vet was shocked at what this place has been doing and gave me a sensible, well explained plan that made sense and was nothing like what this appalling practice did. I first started coming here 5 years ago when it was excellent, and it's sad it has gone so far downhill now with both service and clinical quality. Most of the vets here have no idea, forget relevant details, don't record medical issues and get the diagnoses wrong. They're all about getting you in by charging only about $5 less for a consult but then it's all in to make money off you, including running extra tests and procedures without permission, and not really listening to your pet's issues relevant to diagnosis or acting in their best interests. They extracted extra teeth without asking, ran extra bloods I had already run previously and didn't ask first, screwed up another blood test, gave me medical advice with no basis, that conflicted with the advice of the ultrasounds run by the specialist. They didn't bother to explain and when they were forced, it was vague, made no sense and didn't consider why they had two completely different options for medical care that they put on me to work out when I asked for explanation. They kept pushing me to take irrelevant, expensive tests that the ultrasound said was not likely to be an issue, prescribed me with long term anti inflammatories that they didn't tell me would do long term damage, and also failed to tell me that the liver sample they wanted but didn't align to specialist advice was highly invasive and traumatic to my elderly, underweight pet who was clearly not up for unnecessary traumatic tests. Then a staff member who didn't bother to identify herself called me, didn't know which pet she was talking about or who she was calling to speak to. Told me they'd stuffed up the blood tests but didn't know why, told me six times not to return on the public holiday even though I responded twice I was not available on the public holiday anyway. At the sixth time I asked her to please move on from the public holiday as I wasn't seeking to come in then, she got very aggravated and said "wowww don't abuse me, that's so rude" and hung up rather than actually do her job. What a horrendous downturn this vet has taken, I have come here for 5 years when it was excellent and I drive well out of my way to be treated like this, and it's not even well priced anymore and they don't tell you prices unless you force them to. They don't even allow appointments anymore because they want to maximise the money they can force from everyone waiting in a crowded room that they don't manage the wait for and various animals sit in terror of each other. Now I see why the reviews keep saying the standards have dropped considerably when the counter staff don't even know what they're doing, have an attitude problem, get angry at customers for the privilege and then overcharge you for what they haven't provided. I've had so many issues with front counter staff including repeatedly providing inadequate medicine doses (which I paid for but obviously didn't get) and messing up pet records. A week later and I still had no answer about the blood test I paid for but they haven't provided, and after complaining they still didn't bother to reply until a third follow up. Nice way to rip off your customers and torture innocent creatures to make a few bucks. When they finally responded to my complaint they simply said I clearly wasn't happy with them so they would transfer my records to another vet rather than address or even resolve any of the issues raised with them, after screwing up multiple treatments and delaying for a week and a half what they told me was urgent vet care. Clearly they lie and then run when they get called out. Absolutely disgusting and should be reported to the Veterinary registration board.

Fantastic experience: We want to thank the staff at Swan Veterinary Clinic for the care, empathy and support we received when having to make the hardest decision to put our beautiful boy Buster to sleep. Today we received a beautiful card with his paw print and a little clipping of his fur in a little jar. Although this started the tears again, it was a very appreciated gesture. Negative experience: I don't recommend their walk-in service. I got there when they opened at 9 and I waited almost two hours because 'an emergency came in', which I heard from someone else waiting. No apologies, no friendly updates of waiting time, no water offered, none of the usual customer service pleasantries from the people who work here (eye contact, communication, empathy). When I saw the vet I was in and out for a simple issue but was charged $80. Yes the issue was solved, but I feel ripped off. The level of human customer service was 0. The other people waiting with me were friendlier to my dog than the staff.

Negative experience: Awful. If you need to put your beloved one down peacefully, contact dr shanan and the Perth vet centre team, they are lovely. Don’t engage with these lack of empathy people.

Fantastic experience: Thankyou to the best team at Swan Vets i appreciate all your care you have given with my very loved pets thankyou for the text message updates for appointments and surgery updates you guys are the best! I was also a walk in with my pet and they were helpful with updates on time (even though i was waiting for an hour) they had a chart in the counter to let us all know the wait time. I noticed that they served pets that were a higher priority than mine which is completely reasonable seeing as i was a walk in and other very loved pets needed the attention, very open about quotes for their practice. reasonable in price and payment plans available. Fantastic experience: I honestly can’t speak highly enough of Swan Veterinary Hospital. This clinic is run by a very professional and friendly team of genuine animal lovers. Above all else, these guys put your animals first! Real vets, not profiteers. It’s an industry in which opportunism and greed are rife, whilst integrity and compassion is generally in short supply. My dog doesn’t even mind coming here that much, and he’s the real critic.

Negative experience: Had a absolute appalling experience where they texted and said my dogs surgery went well but when I got there he was shaking and howling so took him to another vet who said he wasn’t given the appropriate amount of painkillers or the stuff that knocks them out,he’s a large dog so i will never go back there again as the staff are totally inadequate and I tell anyone asking for a good vet to don’t even bother with that incompetent lot

Negative experience: After what appeared to be an excellent official quote for services needed, I returned 24 hours later to be charged more than double that quote. Not a happy chap. The staff were fantastic throughout but I was so fed up about the 100% plus costing.

Fantastic experience: You guys rock. The best vets in Midvale by a long shot. We take both our Rottweilers here and will never go anywhere else. These guys care about your animals and charge a reasonable fee. Without vets like you guys we would struggle as one of our dogs is diabetic. Keep on keeping on guys. Positive experience: Was unable get an answer to the surgery on the phone, online booking form wasnt working, when I get eventually get a dialing noise on the phone, was put onhold and the call was eventually disconnected. When I attended the surgery with my two cats the next morning I had to take a booking as a walk in had to wait 3hrs which stressed the poor cats. Veterinarian care here is awesome, but maybe the communication side of things needs to be considered

Fantastic experience: ⭐️First review I’ve ever felt the need to write.⭐️ If you’re wanting a clinic that has 100% compassion, kindness, affordability and the highest level of treatment from all veternerians and nurses, I couldn’t recommend anywhere else. From my rabbits years ago to my dog Remi who has had more then one health issue this year, I truly have nothing but good things to say. Fantastic experience: Have been our family vets forever. Despite moving to another suburb I still bring my dog here as they have the best quality of care. Prices for consults, medications and supplies are significantly better than other clinics. Having seen basically every vet here, all are knowledgeable, friendly and are great communicators. Due to all the above it's a very popular clinic but they still do walk-ins, just exercise some patience if you have a long wait.

Negative experience: I arrived far to early for my cats appointment today. That was my fault and l dithered if l should stay or should l go. Anyway the staff were great they said they would let the vet know and to hang ten. I did and was seen soon after. The vet was lovely well as miss cat needed her annual needles and an inspection post hip surgery. Thanks every one.

Negative experience: Dodgiest practice two of last three visits their cost estimate has increased, once from $1000 to $1980 when i picked dog up. Then $290 to 390 day before surgery Don’t trust them money grabbing grubs!
